as soon as Amethyst said she knew all the lyrics as soon as the song came out I just knew she was winning this.
Don’t act like she killed it. I feel like she tries hard to be funny at the weirdest times. Neither slayed it. They were neck in neck I would have rather seen any of the other girls do this song.

im not gonna lie, irene was the last person i thought they would eliminate out of the other queens in the bottom. the producers gave her a lot of screen time, she has a strong relationship with mistress, and i thought it was obvious she was going to be one of the villians.

yup but that ice water screwed her…and she didnt do that good in the lip sync. Its a shame bc she is really talented but she didnt show that here too well 😢

I was truly surprised that Irene left so early. Hard song to lip synch to and she put up a great effort❤️
To quote a famous drag race winner- “theres seven words in the chorus girl” its an easy song to lip sync to. As an artist you should look at it like this to determine a lipsync winner; If theres a coffin around you, break out of it. Miss dubois was stuck in that coffin the whole lip sync.

@@brayanvillegas It’s not about there being “7 words in the chorus” (despite having a whole rap), it’s still a hard song to lip sync to because the energy is consistent and low-key. There is only one “pick up,” and it’s a rap where you have to let them see you know the words. It’s not a dance track, it’s not a park and bark, it’s not even a goofy goober. It’s just… stale as a lip sync song and you have to create your own energy or you get washed away by the song’s “blah.”

That lip sync from Amethyst is literally the best one you're gonna get to a song with this low of a tempo.
Then Salina lipsynced to "It's all coming back to me now" and things got interesting.

I think the thing that sold it was amethyst’s look it just worked so well for what she was trying to do and the song just worked for that look.

Props to Amethyst to showing a different side of herself in this lipsync! I felt like her talent show and her performance here showed two very different sides of her abilities. Very impressed.

Looking back on it, why were they trying to make it look like this lip sync was close ? Amethyst hit every beat of the song and embodied it really well. Irene didn’t even look like she knew every word

That’s why I kinda lived for this elimination- nothing against Irene, but I like that they took a risk by sending home a queen that a lot of people pegged as a frontrunner. It makes the season more unpredictable

Tbh. Her drag aesthetic is better than Vanjie’s. Vanjie was just funny and entertaining. Irene had an amazing drag aesthetic and threw amazing shade !!! Glad she had a lot of screentime on the first 2 episodes :)
If not this season, the reaction to her by fans means they will likely bring her back in the future.

I wasn’t surprised about the outcome, Amethyst had a better talent show performance and she also delivered in this lip sync. Irene’s talent show performance fell flat and although she was decent in this Amethyst earned her stay.

Irene is my favorite of the whole cast though so it was really sad and shocking to see her go I thought she would take the whole thing but it was just an unfortunate mistake. Irene Dubois going home is one of if not the best moment/decision modern drag race has had/done. Hell, that two hour premiere was near perfect with the entrances, confessionals, talents, and even Irene having to sashay away. Because while there is uproar over their wasted potential and short run, no one is saying Irene didn’t deserve to go home since her talent bombed. It was a fair decision, made even more since Irene was competing against all 15 queens unlike other premieres. And even that, she bombed because of a mistake, not because they’re inherently unfunny (and production allegedly made it look much worse in post so who knows). When everyone at home realized that the queens, Irene specifically, wouldn’t be given a safety net of random chocolate bars, split premiers, or random double shantays this season, even if they were stars or had the potential of going far, we knew this wasn’t going to be a typical season of modern drag race and were enthralled.
And while Irene is getting the shorter end of the stick by being the one eliminated, they no doubt have gained massive amounts of attention because of their short run. She is an icon and this will not be the last time we see Irene Dubois and since they weren’t able to show of all they have on the show, I bet more people are willing to go to her shows and bookings to see what we missed out on. Even production knew her star power, Irene had the most confessionals in the episode.
And for those who say Amethyst should of went home, 1) they were pretty evenly matched during the lip sync for your life and most importantly, 2) we are told why she stayed right at the beginning of the next episode. Her (past) relationship with Robin Fierce, not even I could pass up that free storyline.
I like the lip sync. I really would have preferred another Ariana song but I think that the queens did pretty good with this one.

I may be in the minority, but I actually hate the "classic drag" mouthing of lyrics on tv. It makes sense in the club when your audience is further from the stage (ok so MAYBE for the judges), but when the cameras are doing closeups, it just looks goofy to me. 😂 I couldn't take Irene seriously doing it to an Ariana song.
