5 apps for 5 bucks. I already grabbed this and I really like it. Mainly because the sounds, but also the interface is super clean and easy to use and understand. I’ve been using it to build multilayered synths in AUM, it’s pretty great especially at the price. Which is $4.99
Bargain of the month indeed! I haven't had time to try the layering thing myself yet, very very busy week, but I wanted to get this video out there! Looking forward to exploring this app more deeply for sure
Rob is really an awesome person, kind and full of creativity! And as a developper, he always listens to his customers and that is very rare and enjoyable!
Wow, I just discovered your channel yesterday and have watched a bunch of your videos. I really like how you explain and demonstrate the apps, your signal chain/process, etc...one thing I appreciate a lot is your demo’s are not over wordy or presented with sales hype, and now, you introduce the latest (greatest?) ‘Scaper...Yay! I’m a fan/owner of 4 other ‘scapers, and love playing them to relax, imagine, and drift away. To my ears, their warm, analog sounding, dream-like tones, make the “light as a feather” ride, through time and space, syrupy sweet!
I’m a big fan of touchscaper for both the sequencer and the synths. Rob’s ear for ambient synth sounds is excellent. Having the ability to access the synths as AUs independent of Touchscaper would be a welcome addition to the collection.
Great concept to make the integrated effects available to other apps, this story should get around. So much value within a compact and easy to handle package. And what an incredible bargain pricing. No doubt, Rob belongs to the top 10 iOS developers. Thanks again for this helpful overview in usual quality.
Velocity Keyboard, which I use in this video, has a nice keyboard mode which you can set up like guitar strings, that might be a useful way for a guitarist to start playing synths with minimal adjustment.
@@GavinskisTutorials I'll definitely check it out now, thank you! Alternatively I've been playing synths with GeoShred (it is also an AU host if I don't use AUM) or foregoing the guitar string look and using a chord/note player like SoundPrism Pro. I'm doing everything, apparently, except learning to play keys!
I like your videos a lot because you speak clearly and fill them with a lot of info. This one was a bit frustrating because I really wanted to hear this app in action and it seemed to take forever. If it's the first video on a particular app, I suggest giving us a quick glimpse of the sound right away so we know what you are talking about. Keep them coming. You are amongst a very short list of youtubers who I watch right away when I open youtube. That's a big compliment because I definitely don't thumbs up every video I watch and can be quite critical.
Always loved the sounds in Touchscaper + so of course I'm going to love these as well.. Rob definitely has an ear for sound and he has found some great ones here.. The synths + effects he used while creating Waverley are gorgeous in their own right.. the way Rob has combined them here for us is.. a bit magical.. "less stuff to tweak = more time to play" - I like the simplicity of the apps.. you could get in there and tweak a bit if needed BUT it might be as simple as - pick a preset - start playing.. easy.. and that you can obviously use many instances without any issues.. awesome! Good demo of Rob's new goodies.. thanks..
Yeah, sometimes I spend ages on finding the right sound I want, here the number is limited but they are very well curated. Always pros and cons with everything, good to have simple options sometimes.
Robs other apps are great ,he delivers great sound quality and has certainly sampled a lot of valuable synths, this will fill in nicely and actually sounds a bit fat and lovely, thanks for you great demo as always.
A brilliant new pallet of sounds and effects ,ideal for rapidly sculpting analogue accompaniments or standalone compositions in the AUM environment... also a superb add on to touchscaper . Rob you are blade lunner 🙏🦄. Gavinski ... you are Nexus 7 🙏😎🧘♂️...I bought it immediately .
Thank you for your clear review of MU. Since I don't use sample based apps, preferring to make my own sounds, this saved me time. (Even though I followed your steps to get a free copy of MU, -lease exclude me from your drawing so someone can get it that'll use it.)
Sure, no problem, thanks for commenting, and there will definitely be others who share your view. In general I certainly prefer actual synths to sample-based ones too, but I will for sure find uses for this and I like the sound
Gavinski’s Tutorials Maybe I missed it, and I apologize if I did, Is the 50 samples it? I know the app description said it does have sample making ability. So is it a closed system using just those samples? Thanks.
The manual said it DOESN'T have sample making ability! Though some other people have misunderstood this. I think the app description could have been written a bit more clearly and consisely, perhaps. So you can't load your own samples, but Rob is planning to add more things in future, probably as IAPs.
Gavinski’s Tutorials I thought about MUs, after we talked, and I watched your video again. (I kept thinking of the movie Bladerunner (Vangelis)). Recently I started using GrooveBox to create finished pieces but to use them just for their harmonic content and then I modulate (globally) the devil out them and that's working well for me creating Ambient/Soundscape type pieces. Here, being sampled based really makes no difference (sometimes I can be too much of a purist). Hello Doctor Gavin, I was wondering if you could help me please? I’ve developed this problem where I can’t go for a shower anymore without setting up Touchscaper and letting it do it’s thing while I get washed. What should I do? Here, use this twice a day What is it? Mood units. Why are you giving me this? Well, you need something while you brush your teeth 😉
Hilarious. When I started reading I thought it was gonna be your usual spiel about me turning you into an app addict, was a nice surprise to see the road you went down here lol 😂
Gavinski’s Tutorials y’know, I took a long break from recording and discovering this iPad music thing is like Christmas every day. Kid. Sweet shop. It’s great to be astounded every day.
@@GavinskisTutorials He has A LOT of respect...but...how many people outside the small small world of Audiobus Forum community know about apps like Touchscaper and all the other “scapers”?
Interesting question. To me, it depends. The important thing to the listener is the end product. As a musician, the journey is a big part of the enjoyment. There's a lot to be said for doing things that have your own unique stamp on them. What do you think?
@@GavinskisTutorials I totally agree. Synamax did analysis videos on how songs from famous video games and shows often used commercial drum loops or beats. There are countless songs made using sample-based instruments on sequencing programs called trackers.
Yes, I think a lot of people in the electronic music field obsess over using original sounds because they sometimes lack composition skills or songwriting skills etc, so fetishize the production element to compensate. Again, though, I think sound production is an art in its own right, both approaches are valid and interesting in different ways.
@@GavinskisTutorials I'll check that app out once I get it! I wonder he will add bell, ringmod, or xmod samples in the future. An additive generator audio unit a la Korg DW8000 would be nice! Edit: I realized you're not the developer lol.
Good comment, I don't actually have Syntronik but I'm aware of it, and I guess this could indeed be seen as a light version of that but with the added bonus of having the 4 AU fx that can be used with other stuff too

Yes, the limits might even be a good thing in some cases, though in others, you might miss using something more tweakable
Like how on earth did I miss THIS one? Ida written up an expose in five languages, glyphs, emoticons and unicode characters to win this one.
Hahahaha, are you a writer by trade? You should be
Hello Doctor Gavin, I was wondering if you could help me please? I’ve developed this problem where I can’t go for a shower anymore without setting up Touchscaper and letting it do it’s thing while I get washed. What should I do?
Here, use this twice a day
What is it?
I know the feeling, so enjoyable when you first get into this and there are literally tons of apps you want, such a joy to explore them
Not supposed to take your pad to the bathroom! (moisture gets under display I’m told)
Tmi 😂 remind me never to buy a second-hand ipad off you 🤣
Nice! 😎
This developer desearves more respect...
He is very respected! He's getting pretty well known too, but yes, great that more people are getting to know his work
@@GavinskisTutorials He has A LOT of respect...but...how many people outside the small small world of Audiobus Forum community know about apps like Touchscaper and all the other “scapers”?
True! In fact there are only a handful of devs that are really well known, for example Sugar Bytes, Bram Bos etc...
I'm a big fan of Touchscaper. Would love to win this as well.
Good luck Ian! And welcome to the channel
Does it matter if good music has to use real synths or samples? What do you define good electronic music to be?
Hahaha, yes, you can maybe email these suggestions to him, these are good ideas for sure 😍
Great idea for an app. Sort of like Ik Syntronik lite, and I way prefer these uncomplicated graphics over the bells and whistles IK approach.
Good comment, I don't actually have Syntronik but I'm aware of it, and I guess this could indeed be seen as a light version of that but with the added bonus of having the 4 AU fx that can be used with other stuff too
You won! Email me at 953211370 (at) qq.com and also send me a screenshot showing you're a subscriber to my channel which will also prove who you are! Probably a good idea to also reply to this message to let me know you have sent the email, cheers!
@@GavinskisTutorials Ah, I don't think TH-cam sent me a notification of your second reply. I'll email you shortly, thanks!
TH-cam notifications for replies to comments are super unreliable
Analogue Boards of Canada type sounds are my thing
+100

Email sent
I didn't get anything. Can u check you didn't make a mistake with the email? And maybe write your email here
I use the Moodscaper app all the time...to calm down.
Yeah, apps like those can be a form of mediation
I wonder if it has multi sampled real Instruments like flute, piano, orchestral etc.
Hi Ak, no, and the developer has no plans to add that. It's just going to play the samples it already contains, though the dev will add more sounds over time, most likely as IAPs.
You can use audiolayer for this kind of sampled real instruments
Will likely buy it but would be nice to get a freebie. Love Moodscaper.
Is it available for purchase already? Can’t see this on AppStore!
It is! If you can't find, search for Moodscaper then go to the developer page

Still didn't get an email from u
Still waiting for an email from you bro
Hi Portwain, if I don't finally get an email from you in the next day or so, I'll have to give this code to someone else. Hope you're well!
Sounds good. WIll buy if I dont win.
Definitely not an app that's gonna break the bank! Good luck with the random number generator though!
Would it be incestuous if I used Touchscaper’s midi out to drive these?
You'll definitely be going to hell for that, but it might be worth it
Oof those granular effects
Yeah! Pretty much all the 'fx' synth patches are very tasty
Can I take moodunits to a dark place? Of course I can
Especially some of those fx presets, ripe for a bit of destruction. I'd like to put a few of these through FRMS actually
As great as modscaper
But a lot simpler!
