A very revealing interview with Marvin Gaye during a visit to london in 1976.
Originally intended as a one hour show Marvin was so relaxed and forthcoming it was re-scheduled for two hours.
Surely one of music journalist Paul Gambaccini's career highlights.

All 4 parts of these interviews are the best interviews Ive ever heard on him...first and foremost they talk about the music.Love every word that he says...I grew up with Marvin and Motown and Im a musician so this is very insightful..plus of course knowing alot of the personal stuff everyone talks about over and over its great to get back to the music.

Right. That's my point. In this interview he says Jan had Marvin III. I think it may have been a slip of the tongue and he meant to say Anna. And yes I'm aware that Anna didn't give birth to him.
Has anyone noticed that when the interviewer asked him if "Save the Children" was inspired by his own children, Marvin said I had my son Marvin, then he laughed and said, "well I didn't have him Jan did." Jan isn't Marvin III's mother and he didn't even know Jan then. ????
I thought the same thing. But I think Marvin had to mean was “I didn’t have THEM. Jan had them..” because everyone knew that Marvin III was his son with Anna.
No he was actually with Anna but they adopted him But Marvin III was with Denise Gordy & Marvin Gaye as Anna was 17 yrs older than Marvin & couldn't conceive children. Janis' children with Marvin are Nona and Frankie

@116057832063711560275 Yes, I noticed it. I think it was a slip up. By this time he already had his other two children with Jan though so maybe that's how it got confused. Also, Marvin III really was his son; He had him with Anna's niece and then Anna and he legally adopted him as his own.
They said it was Anna’s teenage niece and I don’t believe it was Marvin’s biological child. He looks nothing like Marvin but they claim that Marvin is the biological father.
@@klesure08 you’re right. I meant niece. I believe the niece was her sister’s child. He doesn’t but I would have to see his biological mother. He might’ve taken after her. None of them have his singing ability.

Didn't he get Anna gordy sister pregnant at 15 the family didn't want any scandal so they adopted Marvin 111 but he is the biological father.

@@RandomGuy-ct7ns Actually it doesn't. He almost made the mistake of saying he didn't have any because Marvin III isn't his biologically. There's a reason he was so adamant that his child with Jan be a boy. If he already had a biological son, the need wouldn't be so great that his next one be a boy. Marvin and Anna adopted him from Deniece. He loved Little Marvin as his own though.
