Best sport out there!!! Every boy that plays loves the sport. Movement, speed, shooting, and some physical contact. So lucky to be involved in coaching this sport for youth boys.
My son was a hockey player who picked up lacrosse as a 6th grader when we moved to Maryland. He picked up the game easily, including the technical stick handling skills, game speed, physical nature, and the tactics and strategy of the game. Proof…he was a four year starter in Maryland HS, 1st team all county, second all time points in his HS and played at a National Champion D3 program in college. He’s still playing at a high competitive level in adult leagues - box and field- and coaches youth club. The teamwork he learned applies directly and meaningfully to success in business and life. Advice to parents, expose your kids to both lax and hockey (girls and boys).
I say this as someone from the lacrosse hotbed of Long Island. The basic truth there is no potential pot of gold at the end for lacrosse. There are no million-dollar contracts. In other sports, a lot of kids specialize because of the very small chance of going pro. With lacrosse players, if they are also good at Football, Basketball, Soccer, Hockey, etc they will keep playing that sport throughout high school to leave their options open. And I am surprised no mention of Dante Trader Jr and Michael O'Connell. Kansas Guard Elmarko Jackson was also a great high school lacrosse player.
Don't compare Lacrosse to sports like Football and Baseball, that only makes Lacrosse look devalued in the eyes of casual sports enjoyers. I'm saying this as a Long Island guy, Lacrosse has more enjoyability in terms of watching and playing it. It's a shame ESPN is throwing Lacrosse under the bus.

My high school football coach told us to play lacrosse to stay in shape for the offseason and I never looked back

Played Dante my junior year of high school when he was still a sophomore, that man can RUN
Lacrosse doesn't get enough popularity for players to earn million dollar contracts. That should change in the future
Lacrosse is 100% more excited for kids than baseball. More kids are choosing lacrosse of baseball. Lacrosse is on a rocket right now
the youth is taking storm for lacrosse, the future of lacrosse is looking really bright for popularity
