Tired of people saying Colby "looked scared" and "was too hesitant" and completely taking away how Leon controlled like 22 minutes of that fight. Wherever that fight went, it was based on where Leon wanted it to be. Pressure, front kicks to the body, leg kicks, jabs, and straights. Colby didn't do anything because Leon didn't let him do anything. Colby got a takedown stuffed, ate a head kick for it, then got taken down himself. Colby got beat up, plain and simple.

This moment reminds me from a scene from Tekken the movie where Yoshimitsu was fighting against some other fighter and the fight ended because the guy wouldn't move at all, everyone thought he was dead.... and the views and attention went through the roof. Seeing the stats, Tekken declared that every fight should be to the death. Dana is a real-life Heihachi!

This is what I love about Dana White. Taking responsibility for the seating arrangements. Any other company there would be lawsuits, fines, and suspensions.
The only reason Colby looked slow and sluggish was because he is slow compared to an actual elite striker like Leon. In every exchange, Colby was getting clipped, that brought down his confidence. Plus Leon was in a perfect position to defend takedowns, moving forward at all times but not overextending.
Leon’s more technical for sure but you’re crazy if you don’t think Colby looked off tonight, I said it from the beginning he wasn’t even applying pressure. When he fought usman and usman broke his jaw he still applied pressure so you can’t even act like he just didn’t wanna get ko’d.. it was weird seeing a guy known for being a pressure fighter fight like that, I feel like it’s almost the same thing that happened when Izzy fought Strickland it was weird man. The Paddy vs Tony fight was embarrassing. It should have been on the prelims, it’s crazy how many people honestly gave Tony a chance, it was great marketing by UFC, the first round allowed UFC to make Paddy look like Conor 😂. I used to like Colby's brand of "Chaos" where he constantly switched up wrestling and 50% punches to wear people down with his crazy cardio. It was a great fighting style - where the hell was that?
He didn't fight a 38 year old or a guy with horrible knee issues. That's what happened.

Colby looked the same as in the first rounds of the 2nd Usman fight, those long layoffs really hurt his career, he missed his own prime.
Colby looked like he did in the first few rounds of the 2nd usman fight. First fight with Usman it was a freaking war all 5 rounds and he got outclassed in the 5th and lost. The 2nd fight against usman he looked scared to engage and was in survival mode the first 2 or 3 rounds, then usman rocked him and almost knocked him out and colby went to chain wrestling/ barrage of punches. And went to a close decision and he rightfully lost. Colby reminded me of a scared fighter that was afraid to engage like he was the 1st part of the Usman fight. Colby looked decent in the 5th ride because he chain wrestled and actually engaged. He should have been shooting double and single legs the moment that first bell rang. Horrible game plan and his coaches were freaking drones. They should have been screaming in his ear after the first round to move forward. Colby looked like a scared puppy.
This fight plays out this way 10/10 times. Colby did what he could

It's not just the time off. It's the heavy damage he took when Masvidal assaulted him. He took multiple bombs to the head, totally unprepared, getting one of his teeth knocked out. That will definitrly have damaged his CNS.
The issue for Colby was then that he had a case pending against Masvidal. He COULDN'T fight until that case was settled. Had he done so it would substantially have reduced his claim which likely was at least a million dollars.
He and Masvidal settled out of court recently, effecficely meaning that Colby could take another fight.
Masvidal damaged Colby badly, likely as badly as he's been damaged inside the cage - and he slowed down his career with the legal proceedings. The BMF got his revenge.

The weird thing I noticed is that Colby doesn't have an mma coach or a wrestler/grappler on his corner. He only has his striking coaches with him. Against Usman it was good as prime Usman is impossible to take down, but against leon he really should only have been wrestling. These wrestlers keep falling in love with their striking but dont realize they're levels behind natural high level strikers like Leon, wonderboy, alex Pereira or even Izzy in the past

There was a lazy Colby moment after a takedown where he got cracked with a left high kick. I think that slowed him down significantly. Maybe in the second round I think. But agree Colby was looking like a shell of old self. Leon looked very good.
