My father died at age 48 from this disease, in 1980. Back then the treatment was all experimental. They gave him a ton of potassium, and it did nothing. His spleen weighed 9 lbs when it was removed. 3 months later he developed leukemia after the splenectomy. To anyone suffering from this disease now, I pray for your health and I am overjoyed that there are treatments available today.
Prayers for everyone affected by this. 😢 My mom has this and she's doing OK but it's still scary. Anyone who has a family history of this has been affected by Chem trails that affected the JAK-2 gene. There are correlations to people who were directly affected by Chem trails, mutating germ cell (eggs and sperm), so the offspring of those exposed to the mutating toxins have polycythemia. This is what causes the myeloid cells to be abnormal and produce too much hematocrit. It's crazy how many issues are created by toxins put into out environment NOT put there by accident.
Thank you for your great explanation... Buy may I ask you a question ⁉️ Is RBC hypochromia cause confined to venesection ? Due to treatment or we can find RBC hypochromia in the early stages of the disease
Thank you 🙏 ....my haematocrit is 48% and my haemoglobin is at 16....and I have a minimal splenomali....i didnt get the diagnosis yet....i m afraid that my doctor is not doing more bloodtests for the diagnosis...bc what if I have it and we never find out....
I have a question and would be grateful for a reply. The question might be silly....has it been investigated that if a huge population is randomly screened for JAK 2 mutations (V617F & exon 12). The rare ones among the population who have these mutations will also have polycythemia (vera)? In other words, can people have either of these mutations but not show signs of polycythemia?
My blood pressure s so high, they won’t let me donate blood. Besides, I’m not convinced my blood won’t pass the condition on to someone else. BP meds make me tireder, faint, and dizzy. My tinnitus practically deafens me to high pitched sounds.

I'm 15, with multiple chronic conditions, but recently I've been having increases quite quickly in my Hgb, Hematocrit, and platelets. I had a cbc and my Hgb was 16.8, my Hematocrit was 46.6, and my platelets where 216. I'm aware that these aren't super high, and my platelet levels are normal, but the next day I went into the ER and all my levels had increased quite a bit. Platelets went up to 260, Hgb went to 17.6, and Hematocrit went to 49.9. I was told everything is normal but I'm not sure

High hemoglobin and erythrocyte counts can be caused by many factors and can be difficult to determine the cause without a complete medical history and physical exam. I would suggest please checking with your family physician for assessment/plan.

Hi Naveen. It might be the units that are the confusion. 18.5 g/dL (which is 185 g/L) Hgb would be considered high in both men and women. Hope that helps :)
