Mind and body may be separate but they are a symbiotic unit. The mind needs the body and the body needs the mind. Each has profound effects on each other. The painfully short lifespan is so we cherish our lives more. Our choices would mean more. If we lived forever what would be the point of taking action? There is a reason immortality is considered a curse and not a blessing in works of fiction.
Very true, but you have to agree that there is hardly enough time in a normal lifespan to really even get the chance to make meaningful decisions. By the time you have enough wisdom to appreciate the things around you, you're old, frail, and on your way out. Then we add in the monetary system, which basically takes away all of your freedom to pursue the great things life has to offer, because you're too busy being a slave for a ridiculous system. I realize if humans had long life spans, we would have more pressing problems, such as gross overpopulation. It's already bad as it is. Maybe if we were engineered differently from the beginning, things would have a better outlook. Oh well, at least we have good music to hold on to before we cash out.
