- Today I'll be attempting to get the messiah achievement for completing outlast 2 on insane difficulty. This achievement was near impossible to achieve, so watch as I try my best (and fail) at not getting sent back to the beginning again.

I would play Outlast or Outlast Whistleblower on Insane difficulty any time but Outlast 2 is just something different. It almost seems a bit as if there is also luck involved when trying to outrun or dodge some enemies. At one point it is kinda difficult to shake her off when you need to push the cart to climb the gate. You just have to be very patient and careful. And at another point you need to get Laird and Nick to enter a cabin and then quickly jump out of the window and make a run for a ledge to escape from Laird and Nick. The last challenge in this game is to outrun Martha one last time and you need to know how to navigate the maze.
I never actually managed to complete Outlast 2 on Insane, I only once managed to complete it on Nightmare without dying a single time which is basically the same. And screw the Messiah achievement, honestly.
Agree, and also i died when escaping to Nick and Laird because my character wouldn’t strafe to the left. On 2 other runs i died because of jumps and only once to an enemy while i was healing.
What I can say is they all have a pattern of where they’re gonna go and when they go there. You gotta run through it so many times that you can remember all the movements or you could pull up a speedrunners video and play along with them but eventually you won’t need to do that. If you move by an inch something that wouldn’t hit you, see you or move a certain way while chasing you could because of that minor change in your own movement. It’s also hard to track all this while the nerves are high and they’re at their highest when ok insane and nightmare. Martha at the end I died to 3 times on insane difficulty cause my nerves were so high at the end I couldn’t just calm down and let her walk down the hallway before I tried to loop around. It’s literally so fckn easy to not get killed by her at the end if you stay calm and patient. Don’t get caught up waiting around waiting around by the window at nick and lairds cabin either, work on hopping out asap so you get used to their movement pattern and get a solid foundation of when to and when not to go, wait too long and you’ve put yourself dying or not up to chance.
@@nyquilforhands3480 Oh dear... Yeah, that last part with Martha has also always scared me. Most of the time I made it through there unharmed when I played on Nightmare. But dying there on Insane must be so bitter... It's also one of the reasons I don't dare trying another Insane run.
That was great, those chase sequences felt so tense, specially when you see their flashlights approaching you.

This is one of the most "trial and error" games I've ever played. I don't know how people can speedrun/achievement hunt this game and keep their sanity.

I remember trying this when the game came out.. i gave up but recently got back in to it and beat it on insane without using batteries… probably the most satisfying gaming moment for me in my life..

As someone who did these same achievements, insane mode and insane mode only 1 battery, I can say this was extremely annoying. Laird was the most inconsistent part of the run. When you grab the rope, there is a slim chance he will aimbot you randomly as you're running back to the shack. When lairds section was done, I was pretty much Scott-free for the rest of the game. I also added in the achievement where you cannot hide so I could kill three birds with one stone. Granted I did this run on the PS4 rather than the Xbox One. Each of them has their own set of glitches you have to overcome. So, I'm part of the .01 percent or whatever it was. Congrats.

i just beat messiah today after 3 or 4 tries. it wasnt too bad tbh. may have gotten lucky a couple times, but it was a fun challenge and so relieving to beat

In the first outlast games you can prepare yourself through nightmare mode until you cannot die or even get hit (much) but in outlast 2 in nightmare is more advanced earlier
