Undertaker vs undertaker was a cool angle for kids. If you are 20 30 40+ and expect to be fooled by everything on a wrestling show you might have a problem
I highlight was the Leslie Nielsen spots. Loved those! Not really a fan of the angle outside of those, and it was a mistake to place it as the main event. Can't denie I digged it as a teen though.
I agree. I was 14 when that angle was going on and I thought it was a fake undertaker that Dibiase paid for some dastardly scheme cuz Taker had such a distinct face, so was right but for kayfabe reasons, thinking it was just a heel trick on Paul Bearer lol. My cousin was 6 years older than me and was fooled entirely, and we argued about it.
1994 Clash of the Champions and Summer slam a week between each other. And me and my buddy living in the middle 90 miles from Cedar Rapids and 136 to Chicago. We event to both, great memories
@@SeamHead33 it's so funny when people try to say shit like this. This dude had just as much if not more tudo behind-the-scenes with WWF as Patterson. I was 9 years old during taker vs taker, I loved it. It was the height of sillyness in wrestling... not everything has to be Stone cold vs HHH levels of seriousness.
I was 9 too. Didn't know what was going to happen at SummerSlam 94, but we did order Domino's Pizza that night because Pettengill was a great pitch man.
The Taker/Yoko casket match was nuts, but I'll be damned if people still don't talk about it to this very day, and in a weird way, it helped to set up Taker's character for years to come. For example, when Kane and Taker had their first match at Mania XIV, JR made the great call "I haven't seen one, two, three or even a group of people manhandle the Undertaker like we are seeing here at the hands of Kane". It was understood that Taker was a guy that needed multiple people to take him down, so if Kane could handle him by himself, how powerful is Kane? And I thought their Survivor Series 94 Casket match was awesome. The involvement of Chuck Norris was a nice bonus, and there was plenty of drama throughout the match too.
Yea, as a kid I absolutely LOVED that casket match & the stuff they did with Undertaker. It made him seem invincible & God-like. It was just great stuff! 👹☠️⚱️⚰️
Lol yeah Yoko was WAY too heavy for most wrestlers/people to lift up, especially tombstone! 😂 Your back would be eff'd up just trying to flip Yoko upside down in your arms to perform the move 😂 Ridiculous!!!
I really did enjoy watching The Undertaker versus the Undertaker and the story leading up to the Pay-Per-View. Being a teenager and watching that back in the day was awesome. I thought the WWF at the time that a wonderful job. I've always been an Undertaker fan and will till the day I die. Bruce and Conrad I love your show. Bruce good luck to you back in the WWE. I've been really enjoying these podcast the last several weeks.
2:11:35-i think Conrad’s overall point is: at this point, we DIDNT KNOW there were 2 Undertakers so the pizza boxes are essentially letting the cat out the bag.
As a kid my dad would never watch WWF with me, only WCW. When I finally talked him into ordering Royal Rumble 94 and he saw The Undertaker being lifted to heaven he said "That's exactly why I don't watch this shit."
I saw Undertaker vs. Yokozuna at a houseshow in Germany in the spring of 1993. Yoko and Fuji came out first and nobody in the audience knew who the opponent was going to be, because WWF had not advertised the card beforehand. I guess most people probably expected somebody like Jim Duggan or maybe Virgil. Great Leslie Nielsen story, Bruce. He left us too soon. My son and I loooove watching the NG movies. His peeing scene at city hall brings me to tears from laughing.

Everyone knows how well respected The Undertaker was & how he kept everyone in line including Vince @ times & how he kept order in the locker room. I'm trying to think of who on the current roster that would have taken Takers place as the locker room leader & I can't really think of anyone.
...and I agree they need to bring back managers, some talent is over looked or even let go because they can't cut good promo's, that's where the Bobby Heenan's come in, some talent shouldn't be so quick to be pushed aside due to verbal skills, if they would just bring back the manager's, that and women's tag teams should make a come back, be a lot more appreciated then a possible return of the X F L... im just sayin' :)
The Return of Taker was what SS94 was all about Bret can whine all he wants but Taker was the bigger attraction throughout all of 94 even though he wasn’t even there for more than half of it.
