Oh thank you for sharing this slice of your travel days and your lovely villa - Scout looks like he has always been part of the family and River is like the best big sister !! We are so exited to see more of your time in Turkey - Lots of love from us 💕 Marianne and Chris xx (and Trudy !!) xx And great to see new road trip buddies !! Woo Hoo xx
Scout has settled straight in, don't think he missed a beat! River keeps him in his place, like every big sister should 😂 Missing you guys as always, sending a big love from all of us. Will Facetime you this week! xxx 💕
What another amusing and amazing video. The ruins were beautiful I had to go back and watch again. And the beaches, too bad we don't have smellavision.. Especially the food looks yummy. You always start my Sunday making me hungry. Love the fact you roll down the sand dune, skinny dip and Ben get's the shower. Thanks for the ride see ya next week. Peace and keep the faith, Cheers Dean
Another fab video! The four of you are so cute together (thinking of the scenes on the bed with the pups and you both dancing in the kitchen - brought tears to my eyes - I know, I'm a softie) and it's so wonderful to witness beauty through your eyes from a world that's often crazy. You keep us all sane and inspired and I'm so grateful for that. Shine on, my friends... xxxx
Thank you so much for these words Jane, this must be one of the best messages we've received! Really made us smile. We're honestly so happy to hear that our videos can bring even a little bit of relief from the mundane world! Sending you lots of love from Turkey! xx 💕
Sophia is sure getting her share of bumpy roads. I loved that Patara beach you went to, I like body rolling down dunes as well. How nice you got to hook up with Philly & Keely, I don't follow them so now I will have to go watch their videos to see what they have been up to. Kisses and hugs to River and Scout, I think they need their own TH-cam channel. Have a great week all of you, must be off to the hospital now and visit mom. Take care!
Isn't she just! Hope we're not shaking her to pieces 🥴 You'll love Philly and Keely's videos, they're so much fun. Hope we get to meet up with again for a proper convoy 💕 Sending a big love to you and your mum Adele! Hope recovery is going well xxx
We visited Tuscany in November and had to drive our rental Fiat Panda on a dirt road that had just been used for a rally car race. That was quite an experience and fortunately we were able to return the rental car without any damage.
Brilliant video, so enjoyable to watch. See scout has settled with you, what a different life she has from a few weeks ago. You certainly got out and about despite the weather. I think Tread the globe went to the little village with the grain stores and the lovely restaurant. Looking forward to next Sunday
Thank you Jane! Scout has well and truly settled in! Although his guard dog tendencies are well and truly coming out, he'll bark at the slightest noise whereas River will be fast asleep. Trying not to let the bad weather stop us, otherwise we'd never leave! The Turkish winter is proving to be wetter than back home 😆 xx
I love that vanlife let you meet so many new friends! It must be such a great opportunity to befriend other adventurous people like you. Even though you have a similar lifestyle compared with other vanlifers, all vans look so different and all the things you explore are so varied! (And oh my god you had me cry laughing when Ches rolled down that little hill, it looked so ridiculously hilarious!) This was a very fun vlog this week, until the next one (and let's hope for better weather) xx 💕
TH-cam and van life are such unique worlds, when you meet people doing the same thing it's almost guaranteed you'll be friends! And yeah it's so true, all three of us live in a van and travel Turkey, but if you watch our videos they're all completely different and we're seeing completely different things. Erm.. that was a big hill Jenny! It felt much steeper than it looked 😂 Big hugs to you 💕 xx
Bol yağmurlu bir video olmuş ama çok güzeldi, bol gezmeler sizlere güzel videolar bekliyoruz, ADANA çok güzeldir, orayada mutlaka gidin, bol bol kebap yersiniz.
Love watching you guys. I'm afraid we can't travel now because of Covid we came back to states about a year and a half ago after living in in Gozo, Malta and then Spain. We meet in Greece over 30 years ago and love the Mediterranean. Thank you so much!!!
I really hope international travel opens up again soon, we feel very lucky to be travelling as I know it isn't the case for most people. Greece is one of our favourite countries ever! We love that place 😍
Joyous.. that's what word I'd use to describe this week's video.. joyous!😍😄 Absolutely loved seeing everything you've been up to this week you guys, it's so stunning there. The villas lovely too but I bet there's nothing like being back in the van on the roads, taking in each destination as you go😍✨🚐🌍. Stay safe you four 💕xx
Awww you guys are so so cute 🥰🥰 we loved every minute with ya and just wish we had more!! Honestly you are so much better at explaining history of places than we are haha, by the time we get around to making our video of Patara ruins you will see 🤣🤣 the dogs playing on the bed while you are trying to talk made us laugh, they are so bloomin adorable. Much much love to you all 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you guysss 🥰 Had such a lovely time with you, our only complaint was that it wasn't long enough! Sending a big love to you both, hopefully see you soon! xxx 💕
Thank you JIllian! Turkey continues to deliver on fascinating places to get lost in! Haha I'm on a mission now to make a salad like the one we had so I can get Ben eating it 😋 Wish me luck lol xx
One thing it's nice to see you both having good time out love the video vanlife is good we did have motorhome my be one day we my have van. Any way have nice time both of you see you next Sunday.
Hi you 2, I'm a very fit and healthy retired engineer armed with a fully fitted and totally off-grid capable motorhome (580aH battery bank, 640w of solar panels, 60a Sterling Power charger, 3000w inverter, 8kw diesel heater and so much more). Having seen everything the UK has to offer (and it's lousy weather), I am now getting ready to move permanently to Turkey to thoroughly enjoy my retirement 😎 My plans are...... arrive in Turkey at the beginning of March and start looking for a suitable rental property so I can then apply for a Residence Permit. The problem I want to avoid is being rushed into doing that within the allowed 90 days. I noted in one of your videos that you were applying for a "12x month tourist residence permit". That would be my prefered option giving me time to search out a totally suitable rental and not being rushed into ending up with something unsuitable. Did you manage to obtain the "12x month tourist visa extension" and were there any pitfalls with the process? Having spoken with with the Turkish consulate in London I already knew about the problems with my UK driving license and renewing the motorhome insurance in Turkey but hopping into Bulgaria for a couple of days solves both of those issues. The one big advantage I have with moving to Turkey as a fully retired pensioner is that I can import the MoHo onto Turkish "blue plates" without having to stump up any import duties 👍 Any advice you are able to offer with the "tourist extension" would be gratefully received (ie.... how did you do it without a "residential address")? Cheers Dan
It's so nice to see you all meet up,it must be good to swap stories and tips. When you watch the different videos it can be confusing when you all post at different times,ie.Marianne and Chris being in England but posting about Turkey. It seems the whole world is travelling in Turkey which makes me so jealous.
It's always fun meeting other van lifers - especially those who do TH-cam, as we always tend to have a lot in common. Really hope we can meet up for a proper convoy soon. Yes so many people are in Turkey! And we all seem to be doing different things and exploring different areas 🥰
Had to check the video description for Philly's & Keely's names -- I was hearing "Fili & Kili!" 😆 I was thinking, "Wow, big Tolkien fans!" It was probably the blue-gray clouds, but the beach & dunes reminded me a bit of Florence, Oregon. That part of the Pacific does *not* go turquoise in the summer, though! Do I remember correctly Chris & Marianne seeing those same goat huts?
Hahah to be honest sometimes I think that when I say their names 😂 Ah we'd love to come to Oregon one day! It also reminded us of some big beaches in Northumberland in the UK, which also do not turn turquoise in the summer! Yes I think they did! Think they were here in the summer when they could enjoy the coast to it's fullest 😍
Super excited to see you guys having such a wonderful time, Ben, who new you were a showering rock star. I'm truly grateful to have found you both and I'm pretty sure both pups are elated to have you as their humans. Loving Turkey thru your eye's ❣ just know you 100% have a place to stay in South Oz 💞
Thank you my love! 💕 Ben is a karaoke rockstar! 😆 Give him a shower or a car journey and it's like The Voice! Sending lots of love to you in Oz, from a rather rainy Turkey! xxx
I love your "commentarys", you always make everything so interesting. I love how River and Scout have bonded too....you were just meant to find him 😊oh and I loved your singing too George haha...see you next week, guys 🥰🐾🐾
Thank youuu Barbara 🥰 They really have bonded well, love seeing them play together. Hope you're having a lovely week, thank you for the kind words and support as always! Sending love xxx 💞
Hello I'm anew subscriber from tread the globe 🌎 I've been watching there videos . I love Turkey 🦃 I'm hoping to go this year. I'll be watching and smashing that like for both of you guys enjoy your trips I'll be watching thank you so much for the content it's amazing
Hey guys, hope you’re good! Yeah the access road does look a bit of an adventure each time you use it! Love the view though! That’s actually a great deal! Just over a couple quid for the access to patara. I do love old ruins like I said over on Instagram but to see them on this video is such a view! 😎😍. You’ve gotta spend a good amount of time on a catch-up and dinner.. the drone aerial shots of the beach are amazing.. but windy though 😂 and well done Ben for the arrows back to the van.. Scout and river playing is so funny! That rain is properly heavy.. and yeah visibly isn’t going to be the best if it’s that bad out… wow, that wall of grey cloud! Never seen such a difference! Finishing off with a cup of tea though.. nice! Karaoke shower 🚿 haha 😂… that hill looks so steep though up to the village! Interesting 🛖 huts. The food looks so good too! You’re famous!! Anyway have a good week! 👌👍
Hello! Thank you for joining us again Mark, hope the weather back home is better than it is here 😂 Ben's the karaoke king lol It had to be on the video at some point! Hope you have a lovely week Mark, sending love from all of us to you xx 💕
Thanks for another great chapter in your travels. Loved your coverage of the ruins in Patara. Reminded me of the trips were made there 2 years ago. Your description captures it well, describing the freedom you get to just walk around the ancient city so freely. What's great is the beach doesn't get too busy, even in high season, perhaps you might get a chance to go back when it's 30C. Do you have time to see how far you can walk up Saklikent Gorge, not far from you? The waters are amazingly cold as is snow melt from the mountains which I believe travel in underground streams. The gorge is the second longest in Europe! Take care.
Thanks so much for the kind words James. I hope we get to visit this area again in the summer, the winter really doesn't do it justice! We won't have time to go to Saklikent gorge, Philly and Keely went there I think and said that you couldn't get far because it was so flooded and everything was closed. So sounds like that is one for the summer too!
Those buildings are ambars, grain storage buildings. We had breakfast at Şahika today! Murat said he had had three lots of TH-camrs this week! we played hide and seek with our little visiting granddaughters in the ruined church at Patara the other day, and at the dunes the day before. We must have just been missing each other! If you are still around do come by! ❤️
No way! We really must have been driving around each other almost! I sent you a message on here, not sure if you picked it up but for some reason I can’t text or WhatsApp you on the number you gave, as I was going to suggest going for lunch before we leave. Unfortunately we have to be Dalyan tomorrow so won’t be around Kalkan anymore. I hope our paths cross again somewhere 💓
Hi Chesea Ben,what a beautiful beach the dogs loved it so did Chesea rolling down the sand dunes great fun is it nice to meet up with friends do you prefer to travel alone on convoy? Sure think you done right turning back in that weather not worth the risk, did not know Ben could sing lolol did you say you did not have to pay for your meal because he watches you on TH-cam how bloody nice is that wear you are do they get a lot of tourist in summer I prefer it like it is now ,great blog loved it thank you for the ride ,till next time take care keep safe, John 🌟🌟🌹👀👀🤩🤩🥃🥃🥂🥂🐎🐎
Hey John! We love both to be honest! We travel alone most of the time so to be with friends for a while, who share the same interests and lifestyle as you, you can't beat it. Hope we get to meet with Philly and Keely again soon. Hahah Ben loves a good singalong, I had to get it in the videos at some point 😆 And we paid for the meal, he just told us that he's seen our TH-cam videos! Thanks for coming along with us John, see you next week! xx
If I was in your shoes I'd park that bloody van up and hunker down in the villa till April! The weather looks bad, perhaps you should try to flee south. Ferry to Cyprus? Dogs are on form aren't they? Ben's arrows on the beach reminded me of Jeep trips I made on the British Columbia/Alaska border many years ago. Before satnav & mobile phones, if you got lost you could freeze to death. I built a little cairn by every junction in the track so I could retrace my route. Fresh snow would hide the cairns so I had to dig around to find them. Not a perfect plan, but I'm still around so it must have worked well enough. Happy camping!
Haha I think we'd take rainy van life over the same four walls for 4 months. We're already going a little stir-crazy 😂 I reckon the weather is worse here than back at home. No plans to head further south to Cyprus, still have Scout's paperwork to organise here before we leave. Love the cairn idea! You and Ben would make a good team lost in the desert 🤪
Fantastic area here that you have covered in this vid. Could your fan in the Rest. not tell you for what all those A shaped huts were originally used for?
❤ GR8 VID ❤ LOVED IT ❤ at the beginninh you say youve got "itchy feet" so its time to get on the move. Your channel is a combination of "Itchy Boots" & "Sailing La Vegabond" ❤ Gorgeous peeps covering massive ground.❤
I think this this is one of the biggest compliments. itchy Boots and Vagabond are our two favourite channels. Both are big inspirations for us - both in day to day living and videography! 💛
Hi guys ! I love your videos I've been following your adventures for 2 years now, you are so inspiring !!! And Jessica, I've gotta ask, where did you get your jacket?? 😍
This is amazing to hear! You've been with us through so much! I'm not sure which jacket you mean but if it's my big, puffy one, it's from Free People 💛
Lovely video again. I’m really enjoying your travels through Turkey. My partner loves your logo and I was wondering how I can get a sticker? I’d like to get one for his birthday 🙂
14:25 All dog owners (and parents, for that matter) know exactly what that face means... 😁 The more I see of the way things are going, the more I want to ditch & drive, or just get a cabin in north Sweden.
Hi Guys, Really enjoying your travel adventures. We are hoping to take out camper to Turkey this year, did you manage to get campervan insurance for Turkey in Uk as we are struggling to find insurance for Turkey, would appreciate knowing who you have insurance with.. Cheers Jezz ps, beautiful part of the world we have apartment in Calis( Fethiye) not far from you guys!!
Hey Jezz! We got border insurance. It's the cheapest option at around £30 for 90 days, but it's only 3rd party. I know some people managed to get UK insurance, fully comp, but it's very expensive at around £500 for 90 days, so depends if you're happy with the risk or not. I think John and Mandy and Courts and Meeks (both YT channels and on IG) paid the higher insurance so might be worth dropping them a message, as I'm not entirely sure who they went with. Good luck!

Hey Guys, you are my new favorite TH-camrs after Chris and Marianne. You are amazing too. If I can give you feedback, I would like to say. It would be great if you could use a microphone. External noises are too loud and it's a bit of a nuisance.
Ah thank you so much, what an honour to be up there with those two! We do have a microphone 😆 But the wind was just too strong at the beach. I think the audio was good the rest of the video?
@@OverlandingSophia As I get older it takes longer to do things, and the videos were posted on the same day but had a considerable time difference in the events they showed. Mind you, that is a Good Thing as I have seen collaborations between TH-camrs publish parallel videos of the same experience very close to each other, and I noted criticism of that in their comments. Apologies for my poor humour after 3 glasses of Chablis. Great to see Scout so active and happy.
Usually, when traveling to a country, all other regions are partly the same. Usually when you go to a country, all other regions are partly the same. But Turkey is very different, the Marmara region is the Mediterranean and Aegean coasts, the Black Sea and the eastern side. Wonderful cultures, food, landscapes.. And most importantly its geopolitical position. No wonder 7 countries attacked simultaneously in the 1900s. The Turkish War of Independence(19 May 1919 - 24 July 1923) was a series of military campaigns waged by the Turkish National Movement after parts of the Ottoman Empire were occupied and partitioned following its defeat in World War I. The campaigns were directed against Greece in the west, Armenia in the east, Russians fought with Georgia (Georgians) and Armenia , France in the south, monarchists and separatists in various cities, and Britain and Italy in Constantinople (now Istanbul). WOW.

It was amazing! Wish we'd known to book ahead for breakfast 😍
Çok güzel olmuş video ellerinize sağlık biraz yağmurlu günler gecirsenizde bu zamanlarda baharda çok güzel olur oralar👍
Thank you! We are from the UK, we can handle a little bit of rain 😂 Can only imagine how beautiful it is on this coast in the summer!
@@OverlandingSophia so strange you couldn’t get through! Happy travels and indeed, I look forward to our paths crossing again somewhere! ❤️
Thanks for coming along with us John, see you next week! xx
Amazing vlog guys lovely beach the dogs had a fab time lol 👍🏻🏴👍🏻
Thanks guys 💕 Think we all enjoyed the beach! 😆
Thanks for the vlog as always 12 Legs! Reckon you should be on mainstream TV. Look after each other you lovely canines and human beings 😃 xxx
Ah you're too kind! 😳 Hope you're having a lovely start to your week 💛
Lovely video ...
Thank you! 🥰
no oceans in Turkey 🥰🥰
My mistake 🙈
Hi guys ! I love your videos I've been following your adventures for 2 years now, you are so inspiring !!! And Jessica, I've gotta ask, where did you get your jacket?? 😍
This is amazing to hear! You've been with us through so much! I'm not sure which jacket you mean but if it's my big, puffy one, it's from Free People 💛
That restaurant looks incredible, I'll contact you for the name of that one for sure!
I'll send you the link! Apparently the breakfasts are next level 😍
Poor Santa, they kept calling him a turkey so he had to move to the North Pole. Well, I guess he showed them. lol, Fun Show.
You and your jokes Eddie 🤪
Lovely video again. I’m really enjoying your travels through Turkey.
My partner loves your logo and I was wondering how I can get a sticker? I’d like to get one for his birthday 🙂
Thank you so much Lisa! Yes we have a sticker shop section on our website! 🥰 They'll be coming to you with a Turkish stamp! xx
My gosh, how many miles have you driven since you left the UK? It''s been a wonderful journey!
Now that's a question! I think we've done around 10,000 miles since we left! 😳
👍🙂🙋👏
Those huts are summer homes for locals, summer pastures , it's a old way of living
They were grain sheds!
14:25 All dog owners (and parents, for that matter) know exactly what that face means... 😁
The more I see of the way things are going, the more I want to ditch & drive, or just get a cabin in north Sweden.
Haha it's a face of - stop filming and let's get going 😆
Hi Guys,
Really enjoying your travel adventures. We are hoping to take out camper to Turkey this year, did you manage to get campervan insurance for Turkey in Uk as we are struggling to find insurance for Turkey, would appreciate knowing who you have insurance with..
Cheers
Jezz ps, beautiful part of the world we have apartment in Calis( Fethiye) not far from you guys!!
Good luck!
Did you visit the first parliament building and the light house in the world?
The one built by Nero? We couldn't visit it, as it was under construction 😔
🖤
What year is Sophia ??
She's 2012!
Stop talking about food it’s destroying me I am so jealous ! ❤️
Haha sorry not sorry 🤪 The food in Turkey is something else!
♥️👏👍🇹🇷
O gördüğünüz küçük evlere benzeyen yerlere biz türkler "Nayla" veya "serender" deriz. Köylüler içlerine ürünleri ve tahıllarını saklarlar. Yerden yüksek yaparlar çünki hayvanlar dadanmasın diye.
Thank you for this information! Maybe the goats we heard were hiding around the huts, trying to eat the grain inside 😆
@@OverlandingSophia herşey için çok çok teşekkürler. Biz sizleri çok sevdik. Umarım yolculuğunuz ve maceranız harika geçer. Sizler de artık bizden birilerisiniz.
We have been making videos for about 6 months now and would love to hear your thoughts on our channel - only if you’d like to! ☺️
Those little huts you see are granaries
The little houses you've seen are granaries.
It is strange watching Chris and Marianne and your channel who released videos on the same day. Clearly a generational gap ....:)
Hello! Thanks for the comment, not sure what you mean about a generational gap though?!
WOW.
Don't blame you for aborting van life and get back to safety and stability... the weather all over is just too unpredictable to continue travelling...
Ah it's not that bad Anne! We're back in Sophia this week, come rain or shine!
💜
