Fear a’ Bháta (2022)

The Shared Music of Dalriada project offered young musicians the chance to explore the shared musical heritage of North Antrim and Southwest Scotland.
Following on from virtual performances in 2020 and 2021, the intake of musicians for 2022 met in person for a residential weekend on Rathlin Island. This track, Fear a' Bhàta or, The Boatman, is an eighteenth century Scots Gaelic song, arranged here with verses in Scots Gaelic, Irish and English.
This project is funded by the CCGBC Good Relations programme, supported by The NI Executive Office (Together: Building a United Community), and delivered by CCGBC Museum Services in partnership with Glens of Antrim Comhaltas. It's so beautiful to see how the traditional music from our ancestors passes on and on, especially considering how endangered Gaelic is. Such a charming performance, thank you for sharing it!
