World map with local time dependent LED backlight (theory)

I am constructing a world map with LED backlight for our living room. The idea is that instead of having a monochrome backlight, I would use a WS2812 LED strip controlled by an Arduino, to set the backlight color differently according to the local time of the given point on the map. This part of the video explains the the mathematics behind, and the circuit design.
