Got the Villager this summer and love it! I'm 73 and only 5' tall - with a shortened boom, it fits me great. Wish I had electric assist but it wasn't in the budget. It's a perfect trike for my casual everyday riding. An unexpected bonus - because the seat back can be unclamped and folded forward, it fits in the back of my Prius, and I can lift it up and roll it in by myself. I ordered the single-handed brake control, so I control stopping and locking the brakes with just my right hand. That leaves a hand free for camera, water bottle, etc., as well as applying both brakes evenly.
Great reviews. I ride a Trail and a 559 and have owned the Trail for 4 years and the 559 for 18 months. 10,000 miles on the Trail and 6000 on the 559. Awesome, dependable high quality machines with incredible support from the manufacturer and my local vendor. Switching to a tadpole trike has changed my life. I’m 69 years old and can ride like the wind. These trikes have gotten me into the best shape of my adult life.
@@jimmysapien9961 the 559 is the newer trike with a better seat for comfort and adjustability . The 26” wheel makes it faster. The Trail is awesome, not too much slower and I have found a great seat cushion to put over the mesh to increase comfort. The Trail seems somewhat more stable with all 20” wheels but sometimes we just need speed! Both great . It’s like asking “which kid do you love more”? Both big time winners.
Thanks for the informative review of Catrike line up Micky. Since I live in Florida, I need to visit Catrike's factory. Enjoy your channel. I also need to visit/ride an ICE e-assist trike as well.
Micky - you are Awesome. Great presentation!! Very informative. I’m trying to make up my mind - CatTrike 559-Dumont or an ICE TOUR X …w / motor assist. Thank you Sir
Okay, what will one like at 11:00 run me in price with all the fenders, mirrors, blinky lights, bells and whistles? Oh yes and seat for comfort, My wife wants to ride bikes with friends and wants me to be with them but I have some severe health problems, so can you help me out here? I don't know who to see or what to look for. Almost forgot I would also need elec assist.
I have an 559 on order, should be here sometime around September. How much weight does the e-Bosch add to the 559 And does it affect the folding of the 559? Thanks, and great video.
I removed my Luna cycle mid drive electric assist today. It was fun, but the added weight with no suspension and 100 psi in my tires, not a comfortable ride....
Dear Mickey, where are you located? Can you help me with finding a dealer on East Coast? I want to do Business with you! I have A problem with C.O.P.D. That limits me. can we install a a rack for oxygen tanks! Small tanks, I would love to have a phone call With you. Let me know what we have to do?

Thanks Rob. There's also a good shop in Florida, Trailsidetikes.com I think they are right next to a bike trail for test rides.
Great summary of the models but I wish the CT folk would do a lower bottom bracket to seat height model for folk who get numb feet. Thanks Micky.

Yes I would like to know?
The Bosch motor system adds about 17 lbs in weight to the trike and doesn't affect the folding feature.

What year did the. Speed carried come out
The Catrike Speed was released in 2003.
-- Easier to get in and out.
Absolutely! The easy entry and exit is one of the best features-makes every ride that much more enjoyable and accessible. Glad you're loving it!
You didn't give the cost of each.
Costs can change especially with post-pandemic freight charges. Just take a peek at the Catrike website to see :)

You didn't talk much about the brakes?
All of the Catrike's have BB7 disc brakes - great stopping power and a high quality component :)
