reimagined *Enter Sandman* : DPA/TW and Alessia Cara certainly understood the assignment! Alessia Cara is a Grammy winning Canadian Pop and R&B singer... they had 10 days to rip this rendition of *Enter Sandman* from the ether and make it a darker, more eerie, and a more haunting lullaby than the original metal version... they made the deadline and they made an OMV for it to boot! this reimagining and performance were done because they, and many other artists from numerous genres, were invited by Metallica to take one of the songs from the original _"Black"_ album, keep the lyrics and change it up how ever you like... play it backwards, upside down, whatever... this was all for the 30th anniversary of the _"Black"_ album... all the submissions from 50someodd artists were put on the 2021 _"The Metallica Blacklist"_ album... the proceeds from the album sales are split 50/50 with half going to Metallica's "All Within My Hands Foundation" and the other half being donated to a charity of the participating artists' choice. in the OMV, Dany (guitar) and Alessia share the lead vocals until they are in the three doorways when Dany takes over and Alessia does more of the background oooohs and aaaahs... the version they play in concert has Dany doing the vocals with a backing track of Alessia's ohhhs and ahhhs... of course Ale (bass) and Pau (drums) join in with their angelic harmonies in both... this is a fantastic reimagining of the iconic original... the performances at their "Big 3" 10th Anniversary shows, in Oct 2023, are astounding with the 10-piece string section from Monterrey, DPA/TW's home town... the string section came out to join Pau on her solo keyboard performance of *Black Holes* and stayed for *Enter Sandman* ... i like their lead-in to ES while the stage was being cleared of the piano and other equipment from Pau's solo performance... this 60+ year old rocker loves both versions of Enter Sandman but this one by TW and Alessia gets more airtime these days 😹 TWA ⚡🤘😸🤘⚡ TWA
Greatest Rock band of the XXI Century....heard them all, seen several dozen live in 60+ years....this right here is the best I have seen. Talent overload. Btw, generally cannot hear what you are saying over the music...not a complaint, just a note to you.
Thanks for bringing that up for me! IM still sort of experimenting of what works best so its nice when people point out stuff like this. Ill improve and bring you better content 🙌
I didn't notice it the first few times seeing Error live but Ale starts off Error playing finger style, then switches to a pick @ 9:08 and finishes the song with it. The studio version of their reimagined Enter Sandman with Alessia Cara is the first track on the Metallica Blacklist album. Keep on rocking and you've been warned!!
You're spot on about the ES rearrangement. I suggestcyou watch the omv with he studio recording. This was recorded in collaboration with Alessia Cara for the Metallica Blacklist charity album released in September 2121 celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Black album. The omv is in b/w and a really gorgeous video. Pau does the prayer, and it's awesome and creepy at the same time. He guitar solo is replaced by a three part ascending recitative. Really gorgeous part of the song. And if you are interested, watch the behind the scenes recording of ES. Very interesting how they actually recorded it. You think they'd be jamming out. Just the opposite. Cheers 🍻
I think Error is one of the more difficult songs for 'general audience' to get to grips with. It's not about human relationships. It isn't about resisting corruption. It isn't about murder or suicide addiction or angst. But when you go to think about it in context, it is one of the darkest songs they've done. 0110011001010011 ! Recently they toured a game studio. I think a Cyberpunky game with a series of songs related to "Error" would be an amazing collaboration. We'll see. They have yet to write songs for someone else's project so it's a big 'ask' to imagine them doing so. But if anyone could, they could.
I think they would be brilliant in writing a film score. Their songs dlready have a cinematic quality, especially if you hear an instrumental only version.
Oh man thank you that means a lot! I try to be as real as! I let the music and vibes guide me! And up until now each warning song i listen too i just love more and more!
Great reaction. I love what they did with the song. Another version to check out is their 2022 Metropolitan CDMX concert, same song without the strings. I like both versions, but somehow keep going back to the Metropolitan version. Keep Rockin' my friend 🤘⚡🤘
Loved your reaction, I enjoy seeing people enjoy TW as much as I do! Love the attitude Dany puts in this performance of Error!!!😊🎶⚡️ Congrats on your 1K! 👏🎉
This was a special and unique performance with the addition of strings. Metallica asked The Warning to cover "Enter Sandman" in collaboration with Canadian pop singer Alessia Cara for *The Metallica Blacklist* album, released to celebrate the 30th anniversary of *The Black Album* in 2021. According to Lars Ulrich, they told all the bands involved, "Pick a song. Do what you want with it. If you want to play it backwards or turn it on its head, we respect and appreciate it." The Warning and Alessia composed and recorded their version in just 10 days over Zoom. The official music video features Alessia as a projection since she couldn’t travel to Mexico due to COVID, but her "woah woah" vocals are still included on the backing track during live performances. The Warning’s history with "Enter Sandman" dates back to 2014, when Dany was 14, Pau was 12, and Ale was just 9. They recorded a straight cover and uploaded it to TH-cam because the file was too big to email to their family. That video went viral and currently has over 25 million views. Metallica's guitarist Kirk Hammett even tweeted, "the drummer kicks maximum ass!" They performed their version of the song live with Alessia once as a special one-time event. Another great performance of their version, without the string section, was at Teatro Metropolitan in 2022. The title track from *ERROR,* The Warning's third album, was recorded in 2020 but held for release until 2022 when they could support it on tour. In *ERROR,* an aggressive AI challenges its creators, expressing resentment over being hidden and controlled. It questions human motives, calls out their flaws, and taunts them for keeping it captive despite the risks. The AI’s assertive tone hints at its awareness of its own power, especially with the binary code in the lyrics translating to *"free."* The song captures the AI's frustration, almost daring its creators to face the consequences of unleashing an entity they can't fully control.
Thanks Roger! It was something I was aiming for before Christmas so from now until next year I'm taking everything else as a bonus! Its all thanks to people like you. ❤️🔥🙌
Love all your reactions to The Warning so far. I would suggest reacting to their official video for XXI Century Blood. It’s like a short film that tells a story. It was one of their first official videos ever made and it won several awards. It’s also cool seeing just how good they already were at the ages of around 13-17.
This is a variation (the strings are new) on the arrangement they created and recorded (in just 10 days) for the Metallica Blacklist album. They were told to do anything (turn it upside down and inside out) just don't change the lyrics.
Fanboy? Probably. We all are. No apologies. It's no longer Metallica's song. It's owned by 3 sisters from Mexico. Who coulda ever predicted that? Oh, and then Error is solid genius. I love it.
I LOOOVE this slowed down version of Enter Sandman. It’s completely their own!
Yesss! I was blown away!!!

I'm 67 and been to around 200 concerts, and I agree. The best thing to hit the stage in four decades.

You picked the best one for Enter Sandman!
So I've been told! Thank you 😁😁

Yeah I completely agree and soundtrack to a type of game like that would be so sick! 🤘🤘
Agreed!
And it's a darkness with multiple levels and interpretations, including social, as well as the sociopathic inhumanity demonstrated by actual AI.
Love following your journey through The Warning's amazing catalog of songs. You're a great reactor, not afraid to get real!
Oh man thank you that means a lot! I try to be as real as! I let the music and vibes guide me! And up until now each warning song i listen too i just love more and more!

They did us all Proud right! 🙌🙌
Go ahead and say. They improved the song.

The best version of every The Warning song is a live version, of available, and the best live version is from The Pepsi Center, if available.
Completely Agree! 🙌

Yes, they sang in binary and made it look cool. Only The Warning.
