A cold (heh) bar that you slept on was "What's a little sawdust when we face annihilation?" which refers to law you can pass in the game that puts sawdust in the flour you make the bread with. It risks people getting sick but makes more of it, keeping hunger at bay for longer. "Fun" fact, this practice is an IRL thing from times of great famine and hardship. Lotta europeans during WW1 and 2 ate their fill of sawdust bread during those years.

depending on the type of tree sawdust is actually edible. pre grated parmesean often has pine sawdust mixed in so it wont stick together in the packaging.. pine is actually a very edible tree. the sawdust is edible. the inner bark is edible. the pine cones are edible young or aged if you take the seeds and the needles are also edible when they are still young and fresh. the older pine needles can be used to make tea although it is quite bitter.

I remember that execution scene from the trailer for frostpunk, that's not steam. That's the freezing air beyond the Generator's reach. They quite literally froze that guy alive.

It's legit upsetting. This track awakens emotions in my already very cold heart.
My reasoning is almost exactly what Austin mentioned at 4:28. This song comes off as incredibly hopeless due to the impossibly cold situation... but the entire point of it is also to be hopeful. Yes, there's two factions warring against each other and our brothers and sisters are still dying in the frost, but we still have a chance to _not fuck this up!_
This track kicks so much ass, yo.

One of my favorite bars is "grieving is a luxury we spun to weave our cloaks"

This was the first Stupendium video I ever saw, and it sold Frostpunk to me. I'd seen it on Steam and wasn't interested, until I saw this. Then I had to check it out.

PS. A great song to pare this with is Dan Bull's song for the same game. They go together like bread and butter. ✌

Also Stupes' and Dan's collaboration, "Faith and Order", in which Stupes' character also re-uses some of the imagery from that last verse, but refracted a bit.

Awesome reaction dan Bull also did a frost punk song with stup as the chorus i personally don’t like the remake of stups song i personally prefer the original but it’s a great song they also did a vs type colab on the different political points

    • @lorrainebrunner2490

Same. And the undertale song too. It feels like the remakes are kind of more... isk.. like, "tryhard" than the originals, ya know? Like the originals you can feel the passion and liveliness behind, and with the remakes there just isn't that. Except for Find the Keys, that one was definitely better than the original, no doubt.

@@lorrainebrunner2490 I don’t think there tryhard I just personally don’t like the auto tune and double voice of the remastered stuff it’s just not for me

That's the thing though... The original two were Faith VS. Order. Both trying to prove that they're justified in the extremes they take to save the city...
Meanwhile, this remaster shows a city that survives WITHOUT resorting to the extremes of Faith and Order, It's a city where hope it as it's highest point, where every man and woman of the city simply refuses to just, give, up.
''The generations after us aren't cast into the cold
So burn us in the furnace, let our souls ignite the flame
Use our bones to stoke the embers
Use our blood to oil the chains
We are nothing now but engines rending flesh to find a way
And as we fall we die to light a brighter day''
The last scene opens up, with the Captain standing in the foundry wearing neither the red of Order, or the purple of Faith.

Stupendium is amazing.. but do not ever forget.. Dan Bull is the genius behind the lyrics.. Stupendium does alot of good shit.. but rapping and rhyme schemes are almost always done by "Dan Bull".. and don't you forget it.. listen "civilization rap" it averages between 2-3 rhymes per two sentences... and you know what.. song was made so it makes sense backwards as well.. The only song with more rhyme schemes is "Bo Burnham - Words Words Words", which averages 1,5 rhymes per 2 sentences, but averages about 3-4 different meanings on every sentence.. and yes, there are some rhymes that has 7 different meanings, and they still work with the "words words words" of the song.
