    I just picked up a 2002 ml55 with 62k miles a few weeks ago (my 2nd AMG, also own a 500+hp c32). I have a different issue that kinda feels like limp mode except it shifts fine but throttle acts weird until I shut it off and on again. I tried replacing the accelerator pedal sensor but that didn't work, going to try replacing the pedal assembly and quick shift button next

      Hmmm hopefully those parts you are charging aren’t expensive because I don’t think those parts are what’s causing it. I would start with the simple stuff before moving up to the expensive diagnostics. How is the throttle acting like?

      I have a 2002 ML 55 AMG that I have owned since 2014. Since 140K on the odometer, I have driven at speeds above 125mph at least 30 times, have driven above 130mph at least 10 times, above 135 maybe 4-5 times, with my two highest, top speeds of 139 and 142 MPH. I achieved the top speeds of 139 and 142 above 150,000 miles on the odo. All stock, all original, except muffler delete and resonator deletes with two chamber hi pro muffler where the resonators used to be. The only other mod is larger 22 inch wheels and lo pro tires that are .9 inches greater in diameter than original set up. This would explain the higher top speed, since its as if adding an additional gear to the trans. For a 20 year old vehicle, SUV, 5200 lbs, with only 342 Horsepower and high miles, this thing moves like a steel bowling ball on jet fuel.

      @@HeyboysGarage I replaced the throttle position sensor, pedal, and kick down button... Still having the issue but I've ruled out the kick down button or anything transmission related. I've narrowed it down to only happening after the throttle position reaches 100%.. what happens is the pedal response becomes super delayed. It eventually catches up after holding down for a few seconds and goes back to normal after turning off the ignition and still shifts smoothly too

      @@UpperZenith according to science, increasing the wheel diameter affects the gear ratio.. increases acceleration but actually lowers top speed. Throws off your speedometer too, so what you're seeing as 130+ is not the actual speed you're going. There are plenty of calculators online that will show you the difference based on tire size difference

    Ive been searching for a solution to my ML55 AMG limp mode for 10 years. Tried many many attempts to solve this problem. I had heard of the 13 pin connector a while ago. I suppose I need to go ahead and check it out.

    • @HeyboysGarage
      @HeyboysGarage  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah 13 pin is one of the first few places to look at with the limp mode issue. Or the fuse box location there is a fan that keeps the module cool in there. Sometimes a module in there goes bad which causes the issue. I saw it on a video, I would have to look around for that video

    I have a ML500 Sport, It wont shift, goes into gear fine though but wont shift out of first no matter what, replaced the conductor plate and the 13 pin connector to no avail any help would be great

    • @HeyboysGarage
      @HeyboysGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Possible issue. Check the TCU it transmission fluid is in it. You can check the ESP module to replace with a used part on eBay but check for same part number. Last I would check inside the fuse box . There is a fan in there that’s supposed to cool certain modules in there. There is a a module in there that goes bad because of heat not sure which one, but that could also be a cause of the limp mode

      I would clear all the codes and drive the car again and see what codes you get. I know it's been a month but did you come up with any success?

    As an Electrical Design Engineer, electrical and fluid or liquid MUST NOT go together in the design and if they do for some reasons there are ton of ways to detect the leak via a sensor to inform the leak into TCU code rather than Transmission code P0715. I saw several DIY people are changing the Conductor Plate and still have Limp mode issue. I can't believe fluid leak going to TCU and Transmission Connector ON MERCEDES... that sucks. This is a stupid design by a well known dependable car company like Mercedes. Uh well corrupt corporate grid system doesn't care anymore just wants fast profit, cheap labor and part design. My 2003 ML320 has only 145K miles and goes to limp mode periodically and after clearing the P0715 it runs and changes shifts for 10 to 20 miles and then again goes back to Limp mode sometimes to gear 1 and sometimes to gear 3. Transmission doesn't do that that in my opinion it must be something like Heyboy discovered electrical issue-- but these Transmission fluids are not supposed to be conductive to mess-up TCU for God sake, awesome discovery Heyboy. This is an awesome video.

    • @HeyboysGarage
      @HeyboysGarage  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks! yeah the only reason the leak leaks into the TCU is from owners not servicing the transmission. Part of the service includes the o-ring gasket on the 13-pin connector. Dude to heat over time gaskets fail and cant keep a tight seal. This 13pin connector is connected to the conductor plate which is soak in fluid that is why they leak travels through into the 13-pin connector which is the wires to the TCU. Whenever you change your transmission fluid every 40k miles make sure you change out the 13 pin connector as well and you will not run into this issue.

      Plugged it up and ran fine. If yours throws a code I would clear the code. These ML’s are a little different because they were made in America and not in euro. I feel you can get away with many different things without a headache
