- Bomani Jones is the host of Game Theory on HBO and a longtime writer/broadcaster who can talk about absolutely anything. The guy has three advanced degrees in economics. I wanted to know how he’s created this amazing career for himself. We get deep talking sports but things get really heated when we get into music…

Bomani is a unique broadcaster he has the education background to articulate himself so that everyone can understand him and he doesn't shy away from being himself.
Sounds about yt
Bomani is beyond a broadcaster. He's an orator with a magnificent and captivating voice! He is intelligent and genuine as well as educated with charisma. That can't be said of many in that industry.
Great Conversation
Boiling this conversation down to his beef with you severely diminishes his unique and brilliant views on sports and business as a whole. This man is so underrated'! Thanks for having him on the show
Bo say "u gotta let me finish these sentences, that's how these things work." Hard!! True!!
Hilarious! A very cool and calm way to say, "Shut the hell up!" 🤣🤣
@joyce2680 yes!
@@gumbofunk
When I read your comment I LMAO because I knew you and I were right there. 👁2👁
Bomani Jones is so good on everything.
Rakim is my greatest MC. He is the median point in Hip Hop. When you think of the genre, you have to think about what happened before Rakim and what happened after Rakim.
Bomani on his way to becoming THE GOAT.. keep it moving. Bo!!!
I am so happy for Bo. I used to call in to his show on am radio in North Carolina 15 years ago.
We needed another hour of the music discussion!
Chuck was the truth. People sleep on Chuck's skill and his teaching ability when the Rhyme Animal destroyed the MIC
17:40 incredible point by Bo. It's so freaking true. People act like being doubted is the worst thing you can do to somebody lmao
Shout out to ƁOTH these men for addressing the conflict or tension from the past and settling it.very mature way to handle it
I desperately need to hear Tourè and Bomani talk music more.
I really like this. Very entertaining. I can't believe I actually sat here and watched the whole thing.
Really good conversation/interview! Toure is good - give this dude a show!
You guys should get together REGULARLY. I thoroughly enjoyed you both!! 💪. PLEASE DO IT AGAIN SOON!!!!
Race baiter????
Absolutely enjoyed this conversation…ALL of it!!
I needed to be in the studio to participate in this conversation. This was great. It was me and my friends all day.
Bo nailed the importance of universally digestible music.
There is a higher level of appreciation to more 'complex' music if you are a creative or musician because you have a perspective of being an artist and the level of complex dedication goes into the work.
But at the end of the day if I have to explain why a song is great to a regular person, what good is it if they can't really comprehend why it's great versus a 'simple' but well written song that anyone can enjoy and understand within the first couple notes. Which you can agrue could be as or more difficult than the latter
You explain to relate and teach.
The other person has the responsibility to receive and learn.
Weekly podcast with these 2 would be 🔥
This conversation is so good.
“Complexity is not intrinsically valuable. Simplicity is intrinsically valuable.” That is a BAR.
Simplicity is the path to mastery.
These two need to do another show together focused on music. I love when Bomani gets in his music bag.
That was a good interview.
I agree, Toure interrupted with his own thoughts way too much.
He didn’t even let bomani name his top 5!
Yo, the music conversation was worth the price of admission by itself
I thoroughly enjoyed this episode! New Sub! 🎯😎💪🏾
Tremendous conversation on so many subjects. Particularly music at the end. Outstanding.
One of the best dialogues that I’ve heard in a very long time right here.
Speaking on what Bomani was saying about the kicker and punter position. Those inner cities pop warner youth teams don’t even mention being a punter to those kids. The average child starts playing football around 5-6yrs old, and the only positions that are glorified to them are.. QB, RB, WR, CB etc…. That’s why I think we don’t have the many black punters or kickers.
They use to have other players kick the football. Now players specialize on the kicker position.
Bomani is so smart. What a fun conversation. Toure you interrupted him too much friend. It was a bit frustrating at times. But a really enjoyable interview.
Great interview. You both need to do a full segment only on music top 10
I could listen to these two diacuss music for hours. They need a music podcast together.
I could have watch 2 hours of them talking about music at the end
My generation, Chuck D, KRS-1 and Rakim! Can’t be beat!
Hell yes. Chuck D is 8nmy top 5!!! That base in his voice holds more memories and also many current events since his supergrouos & running round Africa with Zac delaRoche AND his Top 100 hits he busts out when he feeling it....and he sounds even better now. ChuckD going out with his boots on and thats so kickass 🎉Hail the 👑
good interview
Great interview
I enjoy listening to Bomani and his thoughts on sports and culture.
They really fanboy’d over Prince at the end 😂 love it
They need to start a music podcast together.
Kudos to Bomani....... solid brother and does a great job of getting his point across.
Bomani... YOU right about EVERYTHING spoken on Chuck D.
A yearly music review with these 2 would be amazing. 1 hour strictly for a year end review. Hour 2 use as a limited scope about and artist/album or genre would be fascinating.
Rakim, Chuck D, KRS, Redman and LL are my top 5!!
"jargon is gate keeping" - genius
Way to go to the both of you young men
Chuck D is in my top 5
Bomante got ‘em with the chuck d lyrics
I love Bomani Jones, thats my dude. Bomani dad was gangster, not celebrating valentines day🤣🤣🤣
I love the Prince conversation, and after listing the Sign Of The Times tracks I have to play that album as soon as I get off work. I have to have a best 5 or 10 albums for Prince, I can never decide on just one!!!
Bomani reminds me of Roland Martin and Dr Gregg Carr, they can pull some stuff up from way back.
Bomani explaining KRS1!🔥
M.O.P Should be mention in the best rap duo conversation
It was 7:45 we were all in line,
to greet the teacher Ms. Kathleen;
first was Kevin, then came Lucy,
third in line was me. All of us were ordinary compared to
Cynthia Rose; she always stood at the back of the line, with a smile beneath her nose.
Prince
Starfish and Coffee
Not A word on Ronnie talk to Russia. But what a great convo on music!
Prince!❤
30:11 i broke my arm at 12 playing tackle football at Fort Bragg NC back in the 1990s
Thank you Bomani for your well explained rap takes 🎤💧
De la soul number one? I highly respect that !!!!
Mine is Chuck D, Rakim, LL, Kane and Luda
Great interview, really wanted to hear the comparison between Sam Cooke and Rakim
I think he explained this in a blog or his Evening Jones podcast in that Sam changed how people sang and Rakim changed how people rapped
@@skylerb97 def Evening Jones
Anytime else think that the "comedian" that turned down game theory is Dave Chappelle? 🤔
@@skylerb97 thank you!
THe argument on Babe Ruth's greatness has a contemporary comparison and he's arguably the best player of this era, Shohei Ohtani.
Chuck is in my top 5!
My problem with Will Caine that he's purposely provocative and tries to get a rise out of the panel.
I believe if they just ignore him the viewers will complain and he can't claim reverse racism.
👏🏾 Chuck is in my Top 5👏🏾
Mines too 💯
I always thought Babe was back
Mr. Jones! 😉😊
Here for Bomani…what’s up with this 1980s yellow border?!
Not sure if it’s because I side with Bomani on all of his points when it comes to music or he’s just right but Toure missed on many of his points. Maybe all.
Bomani is right about Brown Sugar and Kendrick albums and he’s absolutely right about the complexity issue. But Bo you wrong, it’s Sign o the Times. But dead on about Little Red Corvette and he and I are totally in sync about If I was your Girlfriend.
My favorite version of If I was Your Girlfriend is the live version he did on the Sign O’ the Times concert movie. I didn’t care for that voice change on the album. I get it though
@@Kickinthescience i love the voice change. I think it’s something that adds tension to the song that makes it unsettling but yet so provocative. What a track!
Crazy. Ridiculous. The Heat big 3 were together 4 years and went to the finals 4 times. Thats dominant.
@1:24:07 I've always felt the exact same thing about Kendrick. He's an incredible rapper but I've never heard a Kendrick song that I liked.
WHAT?!
Are you calling Kendrick the black Eminem? 😂
You are not alone Bomani…brown sugar over voodoo and GKMC over butterfly. And to further the hate, it was written over illmatic
Bomani is COOOKING!!! 1:16:01
Top 5 best or top 5 favorite? Those 2 lists are different for me by a mile. My thoughts on the best don't even crack my top 5. Its like who makes music I like more vs who I think spits fire like a gotdamn dragon 90% of the time regardless of concept or song structure.
Can't believe he said Bo was from Dallas. Thought Bo was gone put hands on him.
Hes talking my kinda talk!!! 1:16:18
I f**k with Bomani!
Even if I don’t agree with him always .
COOK BOMANI!!!!!! 1:20:04
Now here’s where ya lost me bomani 😂😂😂 brown sugar and voodoo are both great 1:24:29
1:20:20
You've identified the problem,
Top 5)and a
Mt. Rushmore) is the solution.
Can toure let him talk Jesus
Patrick Mahomes children are Black so it's possible Babe was
The Ralph Wiley love is needed. He was a bad man.
Mobb deep, Gangstarr ,
KRS1 !!!!!!! FACTS!!
I'll go you one better, J. Edgar Hoover its said was passing for white as well.
The writers on Seasons 1 & 2 are not the same. Season 1 writers were amazing.
Really enjoyed season 2, more. Need 8 episodes!
FAM IM AT WORK pulling up color photos of BABE RUTH GTFO. FAM...
I agree wit Bo about Brown Sugar album & GKMC being better than the sophomore joints of both artist. D'Angelo(Brown Sugar) & Kendrick (GKMC)
And ATCQ is a group.
I disagree wit my dude Bo about B.I.G's 2 albums. Ima vote for LAD over Ready To Die.
Yeah, if Babe Ruth passed thru certain places in Opelousas (or anywhere in SW Louisiana for that matter) he'd be the darkest in the room.
They skipped over the controversy album
Football is
The ball of yarn for the pride less lion.
Toure is spot on abt JZ.
Wowwwwwwwwww😮 1:29:07
Bo Know money!
Bo👌🏾
Like Bomani’s Top 5, but…. we can’t forget Ice Cube, Scarface, Kendrick, Eminem. Duos: Outkast, EPMD, ATCQ, Dogg Pound. Toure has lost his damn mind about 2Pac!
100% right about Chuck D.
Go listen to “The Donald” and “Black Spasmodic” and tell me Tip “raps like a producer.”
