I am on Windows 10 and the Xbox 1 Controller automatically works since windows fully understands the controller by just plugging it in. For other controllers it may not work although I have not tried. JoyToKey is also a tool to bind controls to a controller, which helps for other games.

Yeah I played on the Wii version first as well, graphics are so much better on PC and loads so much faster.
