    Brilliant sculpt! Really hope there is a casting mold follow up for this guy. The casting mold design/construction are always my favorite part of the process.

    I LOVE the time lapse of the actual setup and sculpting! It's not a process I'm familiar with and it's really intimidating so seeing the process helps

      Stoked to hear it! Starting a sculpture is very intimidating to me as well

    Amazing job. Someday, if you ever have time, consider doing a video where you discuss and analyze, say three, of the mugs/scuplts that most inspire and inform your approach to design. In other words, pop the hatch on that interesting brain and let us see inside.
    Always love to see you work and your enthusiasm.
    Mahalo.

    This was such a Terrific Tiki Technical Tuesday (T^4?) - I loved the detail in your decision making process, and now I’m really energized to do a “face jug” for my own creepy collection. I’m apparently not fully up to speed on my @vantiki lore, and I’d love to hear more about your SFX backstory in future videos.

      I sell my mugs on our website:

    • @vantikistudio
      @vantikistudio  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m afraid I didn’t film the molding process for the jug - it was complex, and I was already behind schedule. Shooting the process is fun, but it makes everything take twice as long 😅

      I knoooow!! I have an episode that has been nearly done, and I’ve been putting off finishing it as I planned on doing an animated sequence for it. Well, as you may have guessed, I haven’t had the time to do the animation, so the episode has been parked on my computer for (gasp) months!

    Hi!! I am just recently getting into ceramic mold making for small figures and had a question for the pro! In the past, I see you've used Chavant Sculptex for help in your plaster molds for small figures. However, where I live Sculptex is hard to find. I'm wondering if you think Chavant's soft NSP is as good as Sculptex? If not, why? NSP is available near me but not Sculptex, and I can't really tell what's different between the two... but I am really hoping you can help me!!! thank you tiki man!!!!

    • @vantikistudio
      @vantikistudio  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Aloha! I’m sure the chavant soft would work great - the goal is really to use a clay that is softer than your model, and that can be smoothed out nicely. One last thing to make sure of is sulfur intent in the clay, as some silicones will be inhibited by sulfur. Chavant NSP is Non Sulfur Plasteline so you are good to go!

    Why not coat the wooden eyes with glossy polyurethane to prevent absorbing liquids?

    • @vantikistudio
      @vantikistudio  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That could work, but I do lots of scrubbing and brushing with both alcohol and mineral spirits - I’d worry about scrubbing away any coating I put on the wood. Also, wooden spheres usually have wood grain texture

      I’d love one, but I feel like that’s putting the cart before the horse. The horse is learning zbrush, and I’ve struggled to learn it for years.

      Good point. It would have been great for the geometric shapes in this one, but you don't do much geometric. Love your channel, I'm going to be doing a slip cast soon based on what I've learned here!
