Loved your reaction Tim. Welcome to the world of Lovebitwes. There are about another fifty exceptional songs to go.and they are all on the same level as 'Holy War, every one a banger. Not only do they wear dresses but play two hour concerts, moving and sometimes running around the stage and changing the pedals on their effects boards wearing four inch high heels. This band is one of, if not the most talented, versatile and innovative band around. Their live performances are flawless and fans generally prefer their live perfomances to their studio recordings. I am 77 and grew up with rock and roll hearing Check Berry and Elvis when I was around eight years old and have never looked back. I was a teenager in the UK in the 1960s, witnessed the fantastic explosion of talent, saw the Beatles, Stones, The Who etc but was never a fan of any one band. Roll forward fifty years to November 2017 when I discovered Lovebites and I was fatally bitten and have been a dedicated fan ever since. I would swap having seen the bands I saw in the 1960s for a ticket to a Lovebites concert. For a little variety you should check out "Swan Song" (with the piano intro), "Set the World on Fire", "Epilogue", "Winds of Transylvania", "Edge of the World", "A Frozen Serenade", "The Crusade", for starters. Were you to check out these songs in this order you will appreciate their versatility, power metal, speed metal, thrash metel, power ballads, whichever genre they play they ace it.

The history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands. They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.) Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄

Japan has always had great musicians, in all genres. The pandemic lockdown has given Westerners time to sit in front of a computer and see new things. Japan has an amazing rock scene, whoever goes there can go to a different rock concert every day in any big city!

Zepp is the name of a bunch of venues in Japan, plus a venue in Malaysia and Taiwan. Zepp is a subsidiary of Sony and the venues typically hold from 1500 - 4000 people. A lot of rock and metal bands go on Zepp tours; Nemophila and BAND-MAID both did so in 2022 and Babymetal has done so in the past. DiverCity is one of two Zepp venues currently open in Tokyo, Zepp Haneda being the other one with Zepp Shinjuku opening in 2023. This is the second song in their fifth live release, "Five of a Kind." The tour this comes from was shut down shortly after this show thanks to covid. Unfortunately, in August of 2021, bass guitarist Miho left the band due to undisclosed reasons. The band immediately went on hiatus. During that time off, Asami, the vocalist, got married and had a child. Miyako, the brunette guitarist, did the same. The held a lengthy audition process for their new bass guitarist, the "fifth element," and while the auditions are over, nothing has been announced yet. Meanwhile, Miho has performed as a guest in a couple of groups, the most recent being a temporary group called Down Dope Squad featuring Saki from Nemophila and Yoshi from Aldious. It's interesting that you say Asami has the perfect voice for power metal. LOVEBITES is her first experience with metal. Previously the closest she got was singing backup for two different rock bands (she sang live backup for a group called UVERworld at Budokan in 2011), but she was mostly a soul and R&B singer. In her own words, she wanted to try something new, so she released a demo of herself singing Halestorm. Meanwhile, Miho wanted to form a new group once her former group , Destrose, finally called it quits. Miho called on one of Destrose's drummers, Haruna, to join her, and the two of them knew guitarists Midori and Miyako from the rock/metal festival scene. Midori's band - whose name I can't remember - had split up, and I think one of Miyako's groups, A Drop of Joker, had ended as well, but since she was in another band called 21g and had a project called Sonic Lover Reckless starting up, she was brought on as a "support member." Miho found Asami's demo and liked what she heard, so Asami was added to the group. Lastly, 21g fizzled out and SLR never went anywhere, so Miyako fully joined LOVEBITES. That's their origin, more or less.

I don't care much about 21g or A Drop of Joker either, but those are easier to remember. SLR wasn't bad, though, good enough for me to import the CD + DVD edition and swear not to reveal where I got it.

I watch all new Lovebites reactions at this hour every day (19:00 UK time). What I’m about to say I find myself saying regularly, but there is only one way to put it. This is the best band of my 62 years on earth. Seriously. 50 tracks, zero duds. Positive lyrics, beautiful women with equally beautiful personalities. No two of those tracks are the same, and they cover every aspect of metal, all self composed, and all performed perfectly. Every time. By best band I mean precisely that. Best ever. @@lard1892 First of all, who in DragonForce is Japanese? DragonForce is British and guitarist Herman Li is Chinese. The comparisons come from the fact that both bands play an extremely fast form of Power Metal and both guitarists for Lovebites have insane technical abilities, much like the guitarists for DragonForce. After Lovebites toured with DragonForce in 2019, it was pretty apparent (To me) that Midori and Miyako had learned some "tricks" from the DragonForce guitarists and now I see them used in their songs quite a bit. The other comparisons come from people who react to Lovebites videos and I've seen it in written reviews as well.🤘

Iron Maiden and DragonForce had children, and they are called Lovebites. In my opinion, Lovebites is better than either of them IMO. Enter the rabbit hole and you will not be disappointed. They are my all time favorite band, and I've been listening to metal since I heard Zeppelin in 1971. At least for me that says a lot about the pedestal I put this band on. Nah, they are definitely not of the wacky kind. You are probably referring to Babymetal here, whom I certainly respect, but wouldn't call a personal favourite. And as much as I like this song, it's only scratching the surface. They have so much more to offer. Loved your reaction Tim. Welcome to the world of Lovebitwes. There are about another fifty exceptional songs to go.and they are all on the same level as 'Holy War, every one a banger. Not only do they wear dresses but play two hour concerts, moving and sometimes running around the stage and changing the pedals on their effects boards wearing four inch high heels. This band is one of, if not the most talented, versatile and innovative band around. Their live performances are flawless and fans generally prefer their live perfomances to their studio recordings. I am 77 and grew up with rock and roll hearing Check Berry and Elvis when I was around eight years old and have never looked back. I was a teenager in the UK in the 1960s, witnessed the fantastic explosion of talent, saw the Beatles, Stones, The Who etc but was never a fan of any one band. Roll forward fifty years to November 2017 when I discovered Lovebites and I was fatally bitten and have been a dedicated fan ever since. I would swap having seen the bands I saw in the 1960s for a ticket to a Lovebites concert. For a little variety you should check out "Swan Song" (with the piano intro), "Set the World on Fire", "Epilogue", "Winds of Transylvania", "Edge of the World", "A Frozen Serenade", "The Crusade", for starters. Were you to check out these songs in this order you will appreciate their versatility, power metal, speed metal, thrash metel, power ballads, whichever genre they play they ace it.

The history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands. They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.) Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄

Japan has always had great musicians, in all genres. The pandemic lockdown has given Westerners time to sit in front of a computer and see new things. Japan has an amazing rock scene, whoever goes there can go to a different rock concert every day in any big city!
Good reaction.... Lovebites has no bad tracks , Every new song I listen to becomes my favorite until the next song, I'm 70 and haven't heard a better metal band than Lovebites. Listen to "Set the World on Fire" then go from there.

On a scale of 1 to 10, Dragonforce is 9.9 / 10, but Lovebites are at least 12/10. Check out their music videos and other songs from their live performances. They play from powermetal, through heavy metal, trash metal to metal ballads and real masterpieces with the addition of piano and acoustic guitars.

Zepp is the name of a bunch of venues in Japan, plus a venue in Malaysia and Taiwan. Zepp is a subsidiary of Sony and the venues typically hold from 1500 - 4000 people. A lot of rock and metal bands go on Zepp tours; Nemophila and BAND-MAID both did so in 2022 and Babymetal has done so in the past. DiverCity is one of two Zepp venues currently open in Tokyo, Zepp Haneda being the other one with Zepp Shinjuku opening in 2023.
This is the second song in their fifth live release, "Five of a Kind." The tour this comes from was shut down shortly after this show thanks to covid. Unfortunately, in August of 2021, bass guitarist Miho left the band due to undisclosed reasons. The band immediately went on hiatus. During that time off, Asami, the vocalist, got married and had a child. Miyako, the brunette guitarist, did the same. The held a lengthy audition process for their new bass guitarist, the "fifth element," and while the auditions are over, nothing has been announced yet. Meanwhile, Miho has performed as a guest in a couple of groups, the most recent being a temporary group called Down Dope Squad featuring Saki from Nemophila and Yoshi from Aldious.
It's interesting that you say Asami has the perfect voice for power metal. LOVEBITES is her first experience with metal. Previously the closest she got was singing backup for two different rock bands (she sang live backup for a group called UVERworld at Budokan in 2011), but she was mostly a soul and R&B singer. In her own words, she wanted to try something new, so she released a demo of herself singing Halestorm. Meanwhile, Miho wanted to form a new group once her former group , Destrose, finally called it quits. Miho called on one of Destrose's drummers, Haruna, to join her, and the two of them knew guitarists Midori and Miyako from the rock/metal festival scene. Midori's band - whose name I can't remember - had split up, and I think one of Miyako's groups, A Drop of Joker, had ended as well, but since she was in another band called 21g and had a project called Sonic Lover Reckless starting up, she was brought on as a "support member." Miho found Asami's demo and liked what she heard, so Asami was added to the group. Lastly, 21g fizzled out and SLR never went anywhere, so Miyako fully joined LOVEBITES. That's their origin, more or less.
Midori was in Gekijo Metalliche. ( Which means: "Metal Theater" or "Metal Fury". )

I don't care much about 21g or A Drop of Joker either, but those are easier to remember. SLR wasn't bad, though, good enough for me to import the CD + DVD edition and swear not to reveal where I got it.

I watch all new Lovebites reactions at this hour every day (19:00 UK time). What I’m about to say I find myself saying regularly, but there is only one way to put it. This is the best band of my 62 years on earth. Seriously. 50 tracks, zero duds. Positive lyrics, beautiful women with equally beautiful personalities. No two of those tracks are the same, and they cover every aspect of metal, all self composed, and all performed perfectly. Every time. By best band I mean precisely that. Best ever. I have just one question. Musically, what is an archipelago? 😂😂 Seriously though, a reaction truly worthy of the band.
Most of them are self-composed. Mao and a few others contribute to their songwriting. Not that it takes away from them.

@@lard1892 First of all, who in DragonForce is Japanese? DragonForce is British and guitarist Herman Li is Chinese. The comparisons come from the fact that both bands play an extremely fast form of Power Metal and both guitarists for Lovebites have insane technical abilities, much like the guitarists for DragonForce. After Lovebites toured with DragonForce in 2019, it was pretty apparent (To me) that Midori and Miyako had learned some "tricks" from the DragonForce guitarists and now I see them used in their songs quite a bit. The other comparisons come from people who react to Lovebites videos and I've seen it in written reviews as well.🤘

Iron Maiden and DragonForce had children, and they are called Lovebites. In my opinion, Lovebites is better than either of them IMO. Enter the rabbit hole and you will not be disappointed. They are my all time favorite band, and I've been listening to metal since I heard Zeppelin in 1971. At least for me that says a lot about the pedestal I put this band on.

Nah, they are definitely not of the wacky kind. You are probably referring to Babymetal here, whom I certainly respect, but wouldn't call a personal favourite. And as much as I like this song, it's only scratching the surface. They have so much more to offer. Also if you want more great metal from Japan with insane musicianship, then give Galneryus a listen.
