It's just the easiest for beginners and the quantum frameworks(Qiskit, Cirq etc.) you will be using are made on python.

I suggest taking Physics, but both the subjects will be beneficial no matter which one you choose. All the best!

To start learning Quantum Computing, no. Just a little basic Quantum Mechanics which all the resources I've mentioned will cover.
