Love, love, love the direction that you went with this video. Not going to lie, I was skeptical with the description and thumbnail. But I shouldn't have doubted you'd come through with solid information. There are a lot of wild claims and fearmongering out there with food and nutrition, and I find I have to be very careful with the content a consume on the topic. So thank you for using your platform to discuss these things in a very relatable and level headed way!
You are one of those youtubers that i wish so badly you grow and bloom on youtube like crazy. Your videos are always so informative and it feels like you put in the work with each upload. I wanna see more vlogs and your personal life. I am going to be your biggest cheerleader cheering you to 100k ♥️♥️
Love this video! Been wanting to eat a more whole foods based diet myself, so it's nice to get some meal ideas too. I think meal prepping is definitely the most important part of this, because if you don't have it on hand and somewhat planned out, you're going to reach for the highly processed pre-prepared things instead. Love seeing you every day for vlogmas! ❤
I would recommend reading Ultra-Processed People by Chris Van Tulleken. It really clarified the difference in processed foods. Processed foods are fine, usually it is the ultra-processed food that you have to try and steer clear of. He clearly defines the difference so it makes sense. I think your confusion is in that your diet was pretty great to start and you didn’t have much to change other than obvious stuff that you probably rarely eat. Keep rocking what you were doing and just read the labels now and then. Also, there are clean veggie protein powders that are just a couple of ingredients. They are fine to add to stuff like yogurt and eggs where the taste is hidden. Definitely not as yummy as vanilla whey, but help to up your protein if needed. I love your videos, thank you so much for sharing your energy and inspiration.
its seriously so hard to eat non processed foods! I really loved your take on this topic especially because you showed how sometimes we may not be able to escape it. I do find myself looking at more labels but truthfully its so hard (and SO expensive) for me but I do try and limit the amount I have now knowing how bad the ultra processed foods can be!
I'm not from the US, and the fact that there's such a big difference between cheaper and more expensive brands is insane. I specifically often buy store brand, because on the items I buy, they tend to be less processed/have less added sugar. My store brand cereal has considerably less added sugar, more fiber, more protein, and fewer ingredients than the fancy brand. My store brand peanut butter has peanuts, the more expensive one has added salt and oil. On top of the store brand being cheaper, while it's still made by big brand factories.
Don't stress about color added to salmon. They are required to say that, but a salmon's primary food source is shrimp, which causes the coloring. In farmed fish, they receive the same compounds.
Morgan, Fun video! But why no broccoli, peppers, string beans, cauliflower, zucchini, etc.. Where was the veg on the plate other than arugula, tomato, and spinach? The vegetable really helps with fullness as there is a ton of fiber. Noticed it was missing. 😊
I think some people over complicate it. Avoiding ultra processed foods and sugars would benefit everyone in this country. Learning how to read labels is super important though. They sneak stuff in whenever they can😩 For snacks I do, yogurt bowls with fruit, hard boiled eggs, dry roasted nuts/seeds, jerky, natural peanut butter with dates, cheese, homemade pickles, smoothies, etc. I actually try not to snack and just eat bigger meals, and I find that works better for me anyways.
Hi Morgan, love your channel! I have a suggestion breakfast meat idea I learned. Chicken, cooked or boiled on a pan, and then you add a little " Frank's Red Sauce" once fried a little, then I add my eggs. I did not think this would taste good, but it does 😊
Love this video Morgan! I’ve been more conscious of ingredients lately and it definitely is eye opening. For the most part I can do the swaps like you showed, and eliminating unnecessary condiments etc. but it’s been a challenge to find a great protein coffee alternative 🙃 I typically make a quad shot of espresso with my breville machine and then add a quest protein vanilla shake to get 30g of protein but it’s full of allllll the awful things. If anyone has any ideas or something they love that provides a healthy dose of protein (preferably in coffee) please let me know!! 🫶❤️
This was excellent Morgan! I felt this episode so much. I’m striving to buy less processed foods with minimal ingredients. I used to buy Aldi’s cottage cheese but after reading that it has bio engineered ingredients I stopped. Now I pay more money for good culture but it stinks to have to pay more money. Even things like Pam spray aren’t good for us. I need to switch to buying a spray bottle and put olive oil in it.
In our student gradebook there’s a little symbol for kids with allergies and it’s like half the class. Growing up I barely knew anyone with food allergies. Clearly there is something going on! It’s really sad.
When I try not eating processed food my rule is just reading labels and if the ingredients are something I could buy and make it myself it's okay, but if it's got a bunch of stuff that I don't recognize I avoid it. But I'm also not strict about this. I do this for foods I eat on a daily basis but I do also have some cup noodles and freezer foods for occasions.
try the flavcity protein powders - they are made from whole foods, 100% grass-fed whey protein, they don't wreck the gut, and they are delicious! And the FlavCity guy is such an anal health nut and feeds them to his daughter you know they have to be high-quality! they may not make you break out like your other protein powder did. Or lineage provisions has an excellent Protein Powder!
@@morgreeen FlavCity has a sample box you can choose up to like 12 of their flavors and try before you do a full buy - that could actually make a fun video ha! or turn them into the creamis
I'm not normally one to leave a negative comment on a video but this video is beyond frustrating. I love that you're bringing awareness to the messed up system that is americas food. It shouldn't be so expensive to eat clean, healthy, safe foods. Not to mention the fact that majority of the population doesn't read the chemicals and poisons that are listed on ingredients lists. However you have massively misunderstood what people are referring to when they say they aren't eating processed foods. You are looking strictly at the definition of the word processed and not what people are actually talking about and because of this misleading so many people. My advice is look into the ingredients on labels and the effects those poisons have on the body and ensure you're reading quality research that is not funded by food corporations or the drug companies. Maybe a little deeper dive next time you approach such a serious topic to ensure you're sharing the most correct advice. You have such a huge platform I hope someday you use it to spread awareness.
They aren't. They're required to list anything that changes the color of the salmon, but salmon's natural food is pigmented pink and is what causes the color seen in the fillet. Like how eating too many carrots could make you orange.
I think just limiting the ultra processed stuff is the biggest difference. Don’t feel bad if you can’t afford the ‘cleaner’ food or it’s not even an option we’re you live. I grew up having to utilize programs like food banks regularly, powdered milk, loaf of bread and the grab bag of canned goods. Being so grateful for everything and making that whatever we could. This whole thing of trying to make it absolutely zero is in my personal eyes unrealistic and a bit elitist. Having to feel like your a bad mom if you can’t afford the ‘better’ option when life is so expensive as it is and only going to get worst. I have vivid memories of helping processing chickens as a child. For us to live with the convinces and life style we are used to now. The preservatives are needed to keep things shelf stable to get stuff all over the US, for them to in turn last how long we need them too once we pay and get them home. Support your local butchers, farmers etc. Also if you do have a garden/eggs and an abundance of something try reaching out to food banks and shelters to see if they take those type of donations. Some do and love it while some might only take shelf stable cause they might not have facilities to house a large amount so they don’t.

You should buy WILD caught salmon. They usually don’t have colorings only the farm raised.

Ok hear me out. Would you ever cut your hair to be the same length as your shorter face framing pieces? That would look amazing on you!!
So I reeeeally need a haircut (scheduled one for this month) but I think I’d be afraid to go that short lol

I loooove this mindset
I get my cottage cheese, sausage, some other meats and milk at my local farmers market in DFW. Maybe yours local to you would have some!!
This reminds me of the book I just listened to on audible "ultra processes people"
Would you recommend the book??
To get nuts without added oils just get raw ones. Roasted will have oils.
Thanks ❤

$16 per pound of salmon is a lot. sam’s club has a huge slab of salmon you can cut up and it $10/pound
Well you can’t really eat potatoes raw so the air fryer is alright for the potatoes.
So true lol
Why is there a whole adios mf of oils in the cashews 😭😭
what
The cashews have oils because they are cooked and not raw! 🙂
Why tf are they changing the color of salmon? I’m so over our food. Looking forward to what RFK does :)

modern day carrots are highly processed because they will not occur in nature as you find them in the grocery store. go carnivore
