I am in a similar situation. I'm so shocked. My daughter just told me she's moving into my Moms house for the rest of her senior year of highschool. Told me she's tired of watching me struggle financially. I lost my Dad to covid in 2020 and he was such a champion for me. I just feel so sad.
@John Smith I think it'll always hit us from time to time, just less frequently. It would be a good time to sell the house. Eliminate those triggers, scale down. Do some traveling.
Me yesterday. My daughter moved in with her dad to spend time to get to know him more l. After being with me for 18 years..I get it but I miss her. Day 2 and her room is empty with only a few items ( we built together)😭🤦🏾♀️
Ive been going through this as a caregiver in recent years. I found quite a few things helped. One is noise, turn on fans, the tv, washer/dryer, air vents, music. Whatever works. A noiseless inactive home takes time to get used to. Another is to start thinking about yourself and what you want, hobbies help a lot, having pets help. Play with lighting levels, house temperature, etc. Get out of the house when you can, go for a drive or a walk, treat yourself with your favorite foods. Exercise helps too. Redecorate the house, organize and declutter as needed. And most importantly, you have to pay special attention to your emotions and relearn how to regulate them based on your new lifestyle.
@@lgempet2869 it's day to day. It's grief. I have forced myself back to my hobbies and I stay close to friends even if it's just a texts but it's important. I love my job and my pets. Fake it to make it. I talk to one of my girls once a week. The other two kids call less but I have to respect what they choose because the last thing I want is to spook them off with "hovering" or God forbid I cry.
Many parents, especially fathers, have their kids taken from them at a much younger age by force, without reason, and cut off from all communication. If you think its painful having to live your life with your children a phone call away from you afrer having experienced the joy of raising them from a young child to a responsible adult, imagine how it feel to have lost them before having a chance to enjoy all those moments and never getting the opportunity to reflect on those memories, all the while spending those years of yourife in torment not even knowing if the life you created is still alive. Your nest may be empty but some lunatic burnt my nest to the ground with gasoline and a flamethrower and then pissed on the ashes while they laughed as they watched me unravel and fall apart. If you feel like your emoty nest has left some empty void in your life in need of filling grab a bucket of water and start puting some fires out because there are too many helpless souls out there to count out there who are desperately seeking assistance from a kind soul amidst a pit of ruthless venomous vipers. At least you got to watch your little birds fly from the nest. You have no idea what a blessing that is.
@@AshleyJohnson-up6fe It gets better. It just takes time. Do something you truly like to do on your own. Even if it's just take a relaxing bath, read, or get lost in a movie or tik tok

Having to find who I am in this new chapter/journey in my life feels kind of daunting. 😞
Mine is about to move out. I've been a single dad. Right now I'm just sobbing. She's my world. I don't know what to do.

How can a single mom of twins cope with empty nest syndrome?
As a single mom of twins who just transitioned them to college, I would love to know the answer to that as well.
