Every time you want to try out a new character, you might find yourself asking the question of "what abilities are best for _______." I see the question all the time, so hopefully this video can serve as a one stop shop to answer it.

Viper Ning: S2, S3 | U3
Temulch: S1, *S2 | U3 (S3 playable but really not in as good a spot as S1/2 right now)
*I have to say it, Temulch S2 is underrated, it forces the opponent to play around it and will often catch even the best of players. I go between S1 and S2
Matari: S2 | U1, U3 (U3 being more defensive)
Tarka Ji: S1 | U1
Kurumi: S1 | U2
Tianhai: S1, S2 | U1 (S1 combo breaks=best, S2 parry memes, S3 spicy combos)
Yoto Hime: S3 | U3
Valda Cui: S1, S3 | U2
Yueshan: S1 | U1, U3
Wu Chen: S3 | U2, U3 (U3 can work in ranked, U2 most versatile/best in tourney)
Justina Gu: S1, S2 | U1, U2 (U3 can work, U2 best against zippy currently, U1 most versatile)
Takeda Nobutada: S1, S3 | U1 (S2 can work but not recommended over S3)

If you have a specific question about a character's best abilities for duo or trio I can try to answer in the comments (but I never really play anything but solo so I'm no expert on that really...)
Watched the Wu Chen part and came to the comments to see if this was solo or teams focused lol

nice overview, i like the notation with S for skill and U for ultimate.
it's worth noting that currently a large part of the community use F for skill and V for ultimate, based on the default keyboard keybinds.
also, in solos you're probably choosing between cooldown reduction or grapple distance in (solar) talents. some abilities benefit from cooldown more than others, and it's kind of similar with grapple distance. i prefer cooldowns but recently with holoroth and the chasing meta, grappling distance can be way more useful if cooldown reduction isn't that valuable.

I kinda wished yoto’s ultimate variant has a do an install super similar to valda where she runs around with a roided greatsword. That would be a cool update hahhaa but we probably wont see that coming anytime soon

TOD refers to touch of death, which would mean killing someone with one combo

Check the date of the video. There is such thing as new characters. For Tessa I’d recommend S1 U1
