Sometimes, it really saddens me to see projects like this fail in the end. The issue with Malaysia is that they often go for big projects that bring BIG MONEY into political pockets-just like the one in the Malacca Strait. Why does Malaysia still need to reclaim land when they already have so much?
u did not mention before 2008, during BN PM Abdullah time already announced monorail project, but Penang voters slapped BN gov with low supports, that's the why the projects called off.

@@jylaw9495 well that’s because all the decision making and power held by then BN UMNO federal government and of course DAP and UMNO look each others like enemy. Btw, Penang state government don’t have the power and money to do all these mega projects since everything is so tightly controlled and need approval by the federal government. Unless Penang can gain independence in order to get back its autonomy then Penang government might have chance to do all this projects

A simple excuse given and repeatedly used for 15 years: Penang Dap not the fedeeal gov, yet still promises lots of things. But anyway as long as Penangites are happy with all these beautiful dreams that is ok.
@@jylaw9495 Every Penangites know that DAP led Penang government really tried their best and they really wanted to make contributions to developed Penang. It’s not that DAP making a false promise the main issues are the previous federal government which causing a lot of problem since every single approval of development of mega projects held by them. If wasn’t for DAP led Penang, Penang won’t be developed as it is today. Remember Dr.M still called Penang darul Sampah ever since held by Gerakan led government?

作为中国人在槟城生活，觉得这里最大的问题是公共卫生，很多臭水沟，没有行人道，当然这些缺点都被槟城人的热情友善说替代，很好的地理位置，缺乏统一的规划
80%都是私人土地，确实很难统一规划。

@@andikaandi3416 因为要建设一座现代化城市是需要从排水系统公路便利设施开始整顿，涉及到的区域广且复杂。而且现有的土地很多都是私人的，要收购回来得花费很多金钱和时间，倒不如直接从土填起也可以更好的规划执行。

根本是多餘的，十多年前Batu Kawan 填海就是為现在発展而设的，下重本钱的第二大橋也是爲了工廠擴建和人口遷移而建的，应该大力発展Batu Kawan和其周边才是，把它变成类似香港本𡷊和九龍，况且其地质经過多年沉淀，己非常堅固了，而且它並不在非常危险的飞机降陸航道内！新的梹𡷊填海，外企更本不会耒投资，因为更本過不了他们自己的风险评估，最终会不歡而散，只会是多座高尚公寓，增加槟岛人口，加剧道路堵塞，百害无一益处！别夢想輕快铁会解决交通问题，人口稠密的亞㳖淡，発林，龍尾，打鎗埔，青草巷都是设经過，但偏偏要经過还没建好的PICC, 明眼的都知道为什么了！
