If you like the UAG Scout case that J Williams did a video review of and you have a Best Buy store near where you live you can order the Scout case from the Best Buy website for $19.99 with curbside pickup or have it delivered with free shipping. On the Best Buy website they have the Scout case listed for the Moto G8 Power which is wrong. The Scout case is actually for the Moto G Power and is military grade drop tested. You can get 20 percent off making the Scout case $15.99 plus tax. Just type the discount code in exactly like this 20percentoff. I hope this helps.
I just picked up the G Power for $49 from Google Fi. My G7 is a little over a year old, bought for $99 from Google Fi, but I dropped it on ceramic tile last week and cracked the screen. That in itself isn't a killer for me, but since then the cell radios and bluetooth have been disconnecting at random. I think where the impact was was perhaps at a critical area and has caused a weak connection, this the "upgrade" to the G Power. For $49 I'm betting it's worth it.
If you have a Moto G7, should you upgrade to the Moto G Power? Of course!! If you have the Moto G7 Power, should you upgrade to the Moto G Power? No need to unless you like to upgrade every year. The main reason why I said is not necessary is because the Moto G7 Power has band 71 for those on T-Mobile and now with the Sprint merger it'll future proof the phone 1-2 more years. The regular Moto G7 doesn't have band 71 and the signal on the Moto G7 is worse than the Moto G7 Power.
To me, I'd say it's worth upgrading to the G Power. Had the G7 Power previously and while it was a fantastic device, I had a few issues with it. (Mostly the lack of storage space and poor cameras, yes even with Gcam) The G Power addressees nearly all my grievances with the G7 Power. I've said in different videos about the G7 Power being the device that I took my ball and went home with in the world of smartphones, but now the G Power looks to finally be a competent big battery phone that isn't relying solely on its battery as the selling point. I think I finally found a phone I can see using for 2 years or so, and it's damn cheap too.
Yesterday I switched from G7 Power to G Power. I just switched back a few minutes ago. The first problem was the hotspot could not be used and my provider could not solve the problem. That was the deciding factor for switching back to G7. I bought it because I wanted the new features 64gb with 4gb RAM and to upgrade to Android 10 and none of those are worth not having the hot spot. And the new processor is no big deal, at all, not a noticeable upgrade. Battery life is great but that like all the features with G7 are not improvements. The new G Power also feels cheap and I absolutely hate the camera "dot" to the left that is an eyesore. I do not recommend G Power if you already enjoy your G7. I have been a Straight Talk customer for a decade and the G7 is their best performer with supported features.
I saw someone else comment the same thing on a different video. They actually came back and said they were able to use their hotspot after their new cycle began and you have to have the $55 plan on straight talk. Did you give it another shot or get the hotspot figured out?
I bought the g power direct from Motorola about a month ago, when they where giving 10% off to Essential Workers and First Responders! Love the phone! Best bang for the buck! This is my second G Series Motorola, my last one was a g 5 plus, had it for 3 years and still kicking. Looking forward to a long lasting experience with the g power. Motorola customer service was fantastic! As I had to contact them in order for them to email me a discount code, they where experiencing some issues with their site during the early days of the COVID pandemic. This has been rectified BTW.
Watched your vid yesterday & made my decision to buy the Moto G Power from Motorola today. Can’t wait to get it in the next few days. Thanks for the informative video!
dead on commentary. I'm one who you're talking about. I can afford any phone i want. I can do that because i spend smart. I have zero need for even a $400+ or $300+ phone. Moto has served me well. Love the only minor OS tweaks too. And yup it's not a super wiz-bang plus it will walk your dog & change the baby's diaper phones. Just need a phone i can text, email, call, browse & shop a bit. To me when phones are now MORE expensive than some models of say, a Microsoft Surface Pro machine, we have huge issues with common sense. My single actual daily above all need to to run the monitoring software gor my Dexcom CGM. that is monitored 24/7/365 via Bluetooth. The battery life here is worth it's weight in gold should i encounter any charging issue away from a power source. And that happens. You guided us to the Moto e5+ which gave me 2 full days a few years back. Now it's not more than 26hrs (still great really) but the extra time also gives me peace of mind knowing baring real tragedy I'll see my glucose levels. Value is my goal....this one is a no brainer? Thx & be well!
I broke my G7 power today, and debating on what to do. The battery served me very well, def the best part. But now I am debating on buying the same phone, but then I see the G Power option and not too sure of a difference. Its a little more pricier, not a lot, but the battery is the same as far as I could tell. looks good. I think I will end up getting the G power
Thanks. I was just thinking the other day what the difference in these two phones are since I have a G7 Power. I still highly recommend the G7 power, especially if you can still get it cheap on Metro. I'll put disney plus, netflix, or twitch on at bedtime at not even 100% battery and it's still going with screen on when I wake up the next morning. I'd be curious your thoughts on G7 Power vs E5 Plus. I loved the blue E5 Plus but I liked the G7 Power screen better but both had exceptional battery. Smoothness? I find Motorola phones to be smoother than even my flagships of say 2-3 years ago.
I was just going to ask you to compare . I have the G7 metro variant think what my issues are apps refreshing because it has 3 gigs of RAM. Which G power has 4 gigs of RAM. I just hope the one extra gig of RAM makes a difference when it comes to apps refreshing. G7 power only has 32 gig rom where G power has 64 gigs rom. G7 power is 720p display and G power is 1080p. I am upgrading.
I own both. I upgrade cause the g7 camera was yeah g power big upgrade. As far as battery seems about the same. I never charge over night only on my 30 minute ride to and from work and always have over 60%battery.
I have both and the g power storage is a big bonus! The cameras and sound were a major difference but the g7 power battery outlasts my g power not sure why. The g7 power actually feels better in my hand without a case. I just got the upgrade to android 10 and it has cooler features than my new g power that came with Android 10. But the storage is better for me I ran out on g7 power. I do use my phone ALL day long and Ive never gotten below 50 percent. I have a two year old who hijacks the tv so I watch youtube all day. I have wanted to get a pixel or a higher end phone BUT I can never have a phone that I have to worry about battery again. I used to have 6ft and 10ft chargers on my old lg and I always had to be conscious about using my phone afraid my phone would run out and for two years on both g7 power and g power I never think about. I LOVE moto actions and think about this. Why spend a grand on an expensive new phone? You can buy a top of the line laptop or computer for that price!! Even if people get insurance there is a few hundred dollar deductible on expensive phones. I don't want to have a phone I'm afraid to even use. MOTO rocks! Oh and my g7 power has a faster fingerprint sensor thats more accurate. Both phones are a close win especially with both having android 10 now
Well the G7 Power has the smaller display, lower resolution and weaker processor. Thats why it lasts longer than for example the G Power with the same sized 5000 mA battery!
Great video thank you. I've had a G5 now a G6 I definitely need to upgrade to the g power Motorola is so underrated I love that they have phones for under $300 that are awesome!!
I'm still using my Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom from 2017 with a 5000mAh battery and I still haven't found a substitute but currently looking. I easily get 10-12 hours screen on time.
Was yours buggy as hell? I had to reopen apps twice to get them to work etc.. great battery life though and that's the most important. I had the g7 power and the moto e5 plus with 5,000mah and they both sucked bad with battery. I can't even trust if these phones will even get good battery life anymore
@@Charlie-wq3cg The only real problem that I had was updating apps. I would usually have to restart the phone to get the apps to update but I think it was because it only had 3GB of ram. @@Charlie-wq3cg The Moto G Stylus is a pretty good phone, especially for that price. But you will get a smaller battery with slower charging, a plastic back, a slower processor, only 4GB of ram, and no macro lens. But for $50, you can't go wrong with that.
I put love 10 plus a screen on hours a day on my g7 power and the battery starting getting inconsistent and I'm running out of internal storage so I upgraded. Should be getting the phone today. Little bummed about the 10w charging but it should be ok. Really excited for the camera upgrade
So would the Moto G Power , V35, G6, also be better than the Moto G7 Optimo Maxx? Any other recommended lower-cost phones and/or older flagships.. for example older flagships Pixel 3AXL , Galaxy S4, OnePlus 5, Or newer (2020) budget phones: TCL 10L , Oppo A53 : Realme X50 Pro Player , Xiaomi Redmi K30 Pro (Poco F2 Pro), Xiaomi Poco X3 NFC, Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S
I am needing to upgrade my iPhone 6s probably within the next year (16gb and a camera that won’t focus, but 4 years old it had a good life). This wasn’t a great video for those looking to switch but hit two major points: g power has better battery and cameras. To me that is worth the extra hundred bucks vs the older model since it is still under $300. Thanks
plus Metro will NOT be getting the G Power, they will only have the G Stylus for some reason. I'm on metro and will be ordering a G Power over the weekend i guess.
I am wrestling with the decision. Currently, I have the Moto G7 Power. In the near future, I am getting a second device. I am trying to decide if I should get the Moto G Power or get another G7 Power. I love the G7 Power. The 5,000mah Battery is outstanding.
Another good video. I am a cricket wireless customer and I'm still using the ZTE Blade X Max and I'm in need of a new phone. I am considering buying the G Power. Do you recommend I buy the G Power unlocked or do you recommend that I wait and see if Cricket Wireless gets the G Power?
I just bought the g7 power, and it looks like the one on the right, referred to as the g8 or g power that has the 3 day battery and front camera on the top left corner.
I have the G7 power, was wondering if G power has LDAC bluetooth codec?? The G7 power says in does in developer settings but it only goes up to aptx-hd only way I'm able to use LDAC is on a custom rom.
Moto G power is different from Moto G8 power. The Moto G power is for USA markets while the Moto G8 power is for international markets. The G8 power doesn't come with warranty in the USA and the difference is that the G8 power has one more camera lenses (macro) on the back making it 4 lenses while the USA G power only has 3 camera lenses.
If u go in to developer options and turn all animations to 0 scrolling pages on this phone feel like a dam 90 Hertz display. And you can't knock those speakers. Who really uses a 1000 k phone for anything but Facebook and u tube anyhow. 🤪
So both phones have the same battery capacity, but the g power has bigger screen and higher resolution. To me it seems that the g7 power would actually last longer due to the lower dpi and a little smaller screen. Of course the g power might be more optimized. Does anybody have any info on that? By the way the three basics of any phone, in my opinion, should be: call, text, web browsing.
How do you get such good battery life on the g power? Even if I turn brightness to half and only do basic stuff like social media and TH-cam the most I can get is 11 hours screen on time
I just got Android 10 on my g7 power this week, almost exactly 1 year after the release (9/3/2019). Nothing special in the update, dark mode etc. But still, a *year*? C'mon maaaan.
I have the Moto g7 power by metro and it's my daily driver it's been a great phone seen I got it mine is in mint condition nothing wrong with it it still performs great battery life good but I do want to upgrade to the g7power for better camera
I bought the Moto g power and I had to return it. The display is absolute garbage. It's one of the worst display I've seen in years. It's terrible. The g7 power is way better than the g power. Believe me, if you have a Moto g7 or g7 power it is not worth upgrading.
If the camera is a /the main priority, Pixel 3a and now the 4a can't be touched in the price range. If software updates matter to you, you will want a Pixel 3a or 4a. If the battery life or expandable storage for music and photos are the biggest concerns, you want the Moto G Power. If you are concerned for any water resistance, Moto G Power has minimal, but it is better than the Pixel 3a / 4a's none. Moto G Power is fantastic. The 3a is the phone I got a few months ago and I do like it, though I wish I'd put a glass screen protector on before it got 2 deep scratches. But for me, my main concern is the camera and taking pictures of my 4 kids. So that's why I am glad I opted more for the Pixel 3a. But the expandable storage would be great to carry my music around all the time, especially with Google Music being shut down.
Wouldn't bother. Here in the UK I really can't understand why it comes without NFC. Most the competition has it. I use contactless so it's a deal breaker for me.
I really like the fact that you have The YouVersion Bible app on your smartphones. I presume you are believer. God bless you brother! Greetings from Norwich, England
Great review. Totally agree with you that people waste money, spending over $1K on Apple and Samsung when this phone performs so well. I've had Motorola phones for a while and they've never failed me. Dropping and breaking them is another story. 😏

So if I have the Moto g7 power do not upgrade to the Moto g power if my phone is not broke, correct??? My g7 power is in like new condition
I am wrestling with the decision. Currently, I have the Moto G7 Power. In the near future, I am getting a second device. I am trying to decide if I should get the Moto G Power or get another G7 Power. I love the G7 Power. The 5,000mah Battery is outstanding.
What about now,,still get it over newer options,,,i have the g7 optimo maxx
Another good video. I am a cricket wireless customer and I'm still using the ZTE Blade X Max and I'm in need of a new phone. I am considering buying the G Power. Do you recommend I buy the G Power unlocked or do you recommend that I wait and see if Cricket Wireless gets the G Power?
Unlocked so u can use on any carrier if u hafta switch for some reason.
i bought mine from Motorola website...
Based on this review I got the moto g8 power and turns out the sound call quality is poor. Wished I knew how to fix that.
That looks like the g7 not g7 power
Omg your right
That is the G7. WTH?! 😯😯😯
It is the G7, you know your phones.
I just bought the g7 power, and it looks like the one on the right, referred to as the g8 or g power that has the 3 day battery and front camera on the top left corner.
Not that many people are pointing it out.
I have the G7 power, was wondering if G power has LDAC bluetooth codec?? The G7 power says in does in developer settings but it only goes up to aptx-hd only way I'm able to use LDAC is on a custom rom.
What does the ldac codec do exactly?
Moto G power is different from Moto G8 power. The Moto G power is for USA markets while the Moto G8 power is for international markets. The G8 power doesn't come with warranty in the USA and the difference is that the G8 power has one more camera lenses (macro) on the back making it 4 lenses while the USA G power only has 3 camera lenses.
You was trying your hardest to not say Moto g8 power. Lol 😂 good video

If u go in to developer options and turn all animations to 0 scrolling pages on this phone feel like a dam 90 Hertz display. And you can't knock those speakers. Who really uses a 1000 k phone for anything but Facebook and u tube anyhow. 🤪
spot on
What does scrolling pages even mean
So both phones have the same battery capacity, but the g power has bigger screen and higher resolution. To me it seems that the g7 power would actually last longer due to the lower dpi and a little smaller screen. Of course the g power might be more optimized. Does anybody have any info on that? By the way the three basics of any phone, in my opinion, should be: call, text, web browsing.
How do you get such good battery life on the g power? Even if I turn brightness to half and only do basic stuff like social media and TH-cam the most I can get is 11 hours screen on time
Best Buy’s list are almost always wrong. But not as bad as Walmart.
Thank you for uploading.I enjoying watching your.video🤗👍🏻👍👍🏼👍🏾🙏🏽
How have updates been using Motorola phones? It's so much miss information out about their quality of updates.
@umkc73 that sucks. Love their mid-range phones.
Would recommend Moto g8 power or the pixel 3a?
I use contactless so it's a deal breaker for me.
where did you buy the g power?
Great video 👍
I'm sorry Mr. Williams but that's the regular G7, not the G7 Power. 😜😉👌🏾
Have both yikes still using g7. Poetic guardian rocks
I really like the fact that you have The YouVersion Bible app on your smartphones. I presume you are believer. God bless you brother! Greetings from Norwich, England
What's better Moto g8 power or Samsung a51
I just got this same case. Too bulky for me though
Got the G Power and love it. Didn't own the G 7 but to keep the theme of this video going I've no interest nor feel the need to get a G9 coming up.
G8 = g 2020
G9 = g 2021
International vs america
When are the new gpower coming to metro...the2020
The g7 power has the same battery size
Same here. I'll probably just wait for the next generation
That's not the g7 power.. I had both and that's the regular g7
errrr that's not a g7 power.. the power has a notch not a teardrop front camera
That's the regular g7 not the g7 power.
I appreciate your honesty
Moto g8 power is awesome in playing pubg mobile
Great review. Totally agree with you that people waste money, spending over $1K on Apple and Samsung when this phone performs so well. I've had Motorola phones for a while and they've never failed me. Dropping and breaking them is another story. 😏
Still using Moto g5 plus. Personally like the looks / premiumness of the Moto g7.
I own the Moto G7 power
There is no G7 power
It $150 for me
