As long as Dan plays and does content for WoR how could it ever fail? EDIT! Ok, when Dan says 5 other games he played shut down, that worries me...a LOT.
Dragonheir had a lot of problems. The season format was really stupid. Having to regrind for everything every season turned a lot of players away. I finished the first season and the idea of having to start over again made me quit. They would lose a lot of players at the end of each season because of that. Not a great business model.
Same, which is a shame since Dragonheir was actually quite fun. It's why I uninstall Diablo 4 too - the idea of having to regrind everything is bitter.
I don't know how, if this thing is related with the rumours of: "It's closing the US servers because its publisher is a subsidiary of TikTok, and the US government is currently trying to kill TikTok and has labeled it a foreign adversary. That's the "special circumstances" behind the server closure." We are screwed, because Moonton is a subsidiary of ByteDance as well I believe (at least from what I can read in Wikipedia)
This is what happens when we live in a day and age where games have stopped being about creating an actual good game and just making a game designed to milk money from players pockets
Right? All these games are just reskins of other games. They make all this scummy stuff then see games like monoplyGo make 2 billion in 10 months then crank up the scummyness because they want that money too.
Matt Mercer weirdly is the kiss of Death for Gatcha games. He’s voice acted for Magnum Quest, and now DragonHeir, which soon after both games jumped into a dumpster fire and shut down. I dont think matt did anything wrong, but if a dev really thinks that getting a D&D voice actor to voice one of your characters/cutscenes rather than funding advertisements and the actual gameplay.
There needs to be some kind of contract holding these studios accountable, like minimum 5 year development plans. Forcing them to keep servers running ect ect because this is insane.
Tried DH, lasted only a day or two. Came to WOR with the global launch, have most of the heroes and am finding myself playing less and less now…wasn’t thrilled by the anniversary events.. don’t feel the completionist/upgrading grind pull like I do with Raid..something is feeling “meh” to me.. can’t put my finger on it🤷🏼♂️
Thanks for the news! Interesting news at that. I have only been playing Dragonheir the past few months and intermittently at that, but I think its pretty good in terms of gameplay I've been able to access, other than the gear system, which I have found to be bothersome. Unfortunately, though, Dragonheir wasn't compelling enough to get me to play it on a daily basis like WoR. Silver lining, I guess, for the playerbase is that its just the U.S.
Thanks Dan. I enjoyed Summoners Glory too. X-Heroe or Heroes-X, seems like it had a couple different names shut down too, Maybe they are making games with a short life cycle on purpose? Especially with alot of games using the same in game mechanics, just tweeking them a little?
That sucks. I was strongly considering trying Dragonheir because of the D&D tie in. My only other Gacha game shut down 5 or 6 months ago. They stopped supporting the game or adding new content in the run up to the end. It was RPG Dice: Heroes of Whitestone. Apparently it's maker, Wimo Games, went out of business.
Dragonheir had a huge gameplay problem. They put all their eggs in the story-driven part of the game. The day-to-day gameplay was absolutely terrible. The daily boss fights were not compelling, and the daily missions were so tedious and repetitive. They had the best campaign story by far, but once it was over there was no reason to play. That's bad for a game that lives on its daily grind. Dragonheir also never got its summoning balance right. Too few summons and the lower tier summons capped at epic heroes. They tried to correct that recently, but I guess it was too little too late. There's also the problem that it's so hard to figure out what's going on early in the game that they probably lost a lot of players to confusion. WoR's daily gameplay is much, much better. They also have the best summoning balance I've seen. In fact, it might cause them a problem down the road because it's too generous if anything.
As soon as I saw the that normal summon pool for Dragonheir wsa capped at Epics, I was like nahhh I am good. And honestly, I didn't even really care for the main story missions after the first couple days of playing.
Again, they're not shutting down because people aren't playing. It's political. The recent season has seen very great improvements. F2P players being able to get up to 20 heliolite dice every week was a good one too. It's unfortunate for US players and I agree with Dan, it doesn't give a lot of confidence for gacha generally
I saw the writing on the wall once they said we had to regrind all of our achievements every season from scratch, one of the dumbest and stupidest gameplay ideas ever. And on top of that they made it insanely difficult to get legendary heroes for the first couple of months for average players. Meanwhile, we had to watch content providers flaunt an endless pool of legendary Champions, while telling us how good the game is because they're spending hundreds and thousands of dollars. What kind of gaming is that? They need to repurpose the game's assets into a non-live downloadable single player game with online features for steam, PC and mobile games. What a waste of all of that beautiful artwork, time spent and incredibly well designed characters, plus beautiful locations. Fire the game director! Dragonheir would make an awesome story driven turn-based RPG game.
@@junlarue1 all this because of a political issue? The game isn't shutting down, they're only pulling out of the US officially. It's so hard to find good games we got really lucky with watcher of realms. I played dragon heir and when they season ended and they reset everything, but heroes pulled the game was a hard pass for me. Other than having to listen to the entire story sections again you HAD to buy the auto runs. So, they pretty much forced you to sign up for the monthly pass otherwise the game was such a massive choir to play. I also played magnum quest which had a massive free summon newcomer event which is when I started playing then after that launched they put the game on auto pilot and disappeared until the game was taken down and relaunched. They gave vouchers for people who spent. But all progress was lost. And the new format wasn't really any better. The only time they went to fix the game after they left it was because a glitch happened that sent out like 5000 special summons instead of 50. I spent like 5 hours just summoning and building characters then a day later they reset the entire game back to before they sent those out. Most games I play out of pure boredom because I work a mindless security job for 8 or more hours and have nothing else to do. I play AFK arena, Marvel Strike Force, Omniheroes, watcher of realms, and I just started Ace alliance which it says is in beta. I tried AFK journey and it's not that great. Honest question as to why you'd ever want to regrind all the content in a mobile app? Have to rebuy all the summons rebuy all the tickets to fast grind. It's insane.
@@Nutslap naw totally legit lol
no offence intended but dragonheir was overrated, overhyped...when I tried it, it was disappointment one after another for the whole 3 weeks I gave it a chance...maybe just don't invest money in these things, you'll feel better about them floating away. you're already investing so much time an effort in the videos. I mean there's a reason gatcha is closely associate with gambling, and why I avoid most of them, they all first and foremost want your money.
yup, I complained about DH a lot in the beginning, I loved some aspects, but hated most of the others.
Dragonheir was booty
Yep! Dh is dead.
Common US government L
The government does not normally sanction games, so if they did sanction it, there had to be a good reason.
@@LancerX916 I wouldn't trust the US governments competency about stuff like this they don't even know the difference between Singapore and China
