14:14 Actually there was a "Christmas Truce" in the East. It was only observed by the Polish troops of the three empires (Germany, Austria, and Russia) and was quickly dealt with by the native officer corps of the three nations. In fact Polish troops on both sides were always reluctant to fight each other and usually just chatted with each other.
I didn't know this story before I've listened this song. And I live about 11km from Osowiec! Sure I've heard that there was a battle and gas was used but never whole story.
Love this song. There is something about the rythm that makes it sound - for lack of a better word - industrial. Heard it once, and it instantly became one of my favorite songs from a musical point of view. Historically, I like it a lot, but in this regard it's behind Gallipoli, Price of a Mile and Lifetime of war.
A story about 100 men breathing alternative air and fueled entirely by sheer spite rise from the dead. Sounds like the plot of a zombie movie, either at the end to setup a post-apocalyptic world or the end to end on a cliffhanger.
In scandinavia dead people were impaled and sunk down in marshes WAY earlier during middle ages in order to prevent "walking dead" so no, this is a false fact
I watched Bismarck 1 day after it came out absolutely loved it. I knew some of the song titles and knew it’s about or have and idea what’s it’s about, and I have started to watch Sabaton history vids about the songs. Love it.
Diver_01 In 1915 in the trenches on Christmas, the Germans yelled “ Merry Christmas Canadians” and started to wave cigar boxes. The Canadians opened fire. While we have a reputation as being nice, our boys were very ruthless in war.
Some suggestion for possible future songs. Real, documented story. On July 13, 1941, the son of carpenter, Dmitry Ovcharenko was carrying the supplies to his squad. Simple villager's cart and simple horse. Simple muscular man in simple uniforms with the Red Army private insignia. Suddenly his road was blocked by several German trucks, carrying 3 officers and several dozen of soldiers. One officer immediately took Ovcharenko's "Mosin" rifle off, then started the brief interrogations. But Dmitry was a carpenter's son, and had his very sharp axe in the cart. Also there were 3 hand grenades. In one movement he picked his axe and immediately decapitated the officer, who tried to interrogate him. Germans were stunned for a moment, and Dmitry did his best: he managed to throw all grenades to the trucks, killing 20 soldiers and second officer. Remaining soldiers flee terrified. Third officer was wounded, and Dmitry pursued him, then also decapitated him with his axe. Then Dmitry collected "a loot" - officer's tablets, soldier books and other documents. Then he directed his horse to the route he was on before encounter. Upon arrival into his squad quarters, he handed the collected papers to his commander and explained where and how he got these. Commander was doubtful, and some co-combatants started to laugh on Ovcharenko, accusing him as liar. Shortly after the commander partially read the papers brought, he ordered small detachment to check the Ovcharenko's story. They reached the location and found these 23 bodies, two of which were headless... No one laughed then, and the soldier Dmitry Ovcharenko was proposed to be awarded the Hero of Soviet Union award. Later he got this award he deserved. He was KIA during the liberation of Hungary on January 28, 1945. There were only about 3 months remain until the Nazi capitulation...
Translate of russian cover fragment : Osovets, death, corpses, poison. A dead detachment was going attack They walked to win What is dead - that cant be longer kill

Я считаю, что такое отношение к сопернику может вызывать только уважение. Надеюсь, что русские и шведские солдаты больше не будут убивать друг друга. Давайте жить дружно!
Definitely find both versions of this song a flat out bop, even though my neighbors would ask why I was blasting Russian songs on my speakers XD Worth every beat though
I've been looking forward to a video on The Attack of the Dead Men for a while, and y'all finally delivered! The Attack of the Dead Men is both one of my favorite songs and events from the album, and strangest one too. The whole song sounds like a zombie is apocalypse, which is fitting since it was a zombie apocalypse for the Germans.
I want you all to appreciate the audio edit of this episode in particular: the music fits amazingly, doesn't feel looped, the re-start when Indy said "or was it?", the audio effects, everything felt amazing!
Finally, I have been waiting for this one since July when the Russian version came out. I wonder what the story will be. This is going to be one good episode. I knew that Radio Tapok would come into this. And the story is good. About the Christmas Truce, I do hope we get one day.

when the Russian officer yells out "YOUR LIFE IN EXCHANGE FOR TEN OF THEIRS!" just as the gas finally crawled into Osowiec
Hell yeah, one of the best songs of the album. And yes, the Radio Tapok Russian Cover is amazing.
This is the song that grew on me the most from The Great War. On my first listen it didn't stand out as much, but after listening to the album several times and hearing this song live, it became one of my favorites!

Can we talk about how magnificent Pär’s beard is?
This is my absolute favourite song of The Great War. Not only the music is brilliant, but also the story is mind bending.
"What is dead may never die but rises again harder and stronger"
The Drowned God would be very pleased
I didn't know this story before I've listened this song.
And I live about 11km from Osowiec!
Sure I've heard that there was a battle and gas was used but never whole story.
Ok now make a song about that bear who carried artillery shells.

One of the most awaited sabaton histories hands down...
Ahhhh finally! I've been waiting so long for my favourite Great War song to get its episode!
Honestly, this is probably one of my favorite songs on the entire album, and I really love the album.
This one of my favorite of your songs and was the first of your songs i heard
Спасибо за субтитры:")
sabaton is my favorite history teacher.
12:02 And I'm one of those people.
I would LOVE to hear a song about the Christmas Truce...
Hohoho boy
Love this song. There is something about the rythm that makes it sound - for lack of a better word - industrial. Heard it once, and it instantly became one of my favorite songs from a musical point of view. Historically, I like it a lot, but in this regard it's behind Gallipoli, Price of a Mile and Lifetime of war.

Yay! One of the best songs from the album :)
A story about 100 men breathing alternative air and fueled entirely by sheer spite rise from the dead. Sounds like the plot of a zombie movie, either at the end to setup a post-apocalyptic world or the end to end on a cliffhanger.
Fun Fact: the phrase "Walking Dead" came from this battle.
@Thatshow ED Indeed they were, but those were called "living dead" or "resurrected". Lazarus might aswell be the first zombie.
In scandinavia dead people were impaled and sunk down in marshes WAY earlier during middle ages in order to prevent "walking dead" so no, this is a false fact

Yet. Christmas Truce is here and it is amazing.
YES IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS EPISODE SINCE THIS STARTED
Finally got that Christmas truce song
We always listen to you
I watched Bismarck 1 day after it came out absolutely loved it. I knew some of the song titles and knew it’s about or have and idea what’s it’s about, and I have started to watch Sabaton history vids about the songs. Love it.
I love the ones with Pär because we always hear the most unexpected things
We definetely need a song about the christmas truce in the future

Translate of russian cover fragment :
Osovets, death, corpses, poison.
A dead detachment was going attack
They walked to win
What is dead - that cant be longer kill
They actually used the English lyrics in the song.
@LineOfCars That it would. "What is dead that needs to be killed again?" I think would be better...
@@cxpKSip no no, at the last they mean that soldiers already dead by the gas and cant be killed by bullets, and because going attack
@@alfotiosacaramde9631 well, they were supposed to die. Did they? No.
I corrected the translation:
Osowets, death, corpses, poison
The Dead detachment goes in to attack
They’ve come to win
For what is dead, can’t die again
My favorite off the album, almost impossible to not headbang along to it. Was looking forward to this episode
The Russian version is awesome and the intro to the clip was hilarious!

I've been waiting for this one!
A great song and a great story. I was at your concert in Stuttgart and to me it really stands out how you performed this specific song. Gas masks, green smoke and Joakims Gas thrower gave this one a unique feeling🤘

I have been waiting for this song, thank you for another great video !! And cheers from the Lone star state
Thanks you for helping me pass my history exam
I want you all to appreciate the audio edit of this episode in particular: the music fits amazingly, doesn't feel looped, the re-start when Indy said "or was it?", the audio effects, everything felt amazing!
This is my fave song off of the Great War and was really looking forward to hearing more about it. You did not disappoint!
Finally, I have been waiting for this one since July when the Russian version came out. I wonder what the story will be. This is going to be one good episode. I knew that Radio Tapok would come into this. And the story is good. About the Christmas Truce, I do hope we get one day.
