I have been looking for this song for YEARS. I heard it when I was quite young and it hit me in a weird way even though I didn't know anything about India or know any Indian people. Then I lost the song but always remembered this song called "Punjab" but had no way to find it. Funny enough I ended up marrying a Punjabi guy in 2019 and since 5 years of being with him I was still searching for this song and even he didn't know what I was talking about.

The very fact that you said "I've been looking for this song for years" is testament to how beautiful this tune is. Listen to this when you drive especially on a highway. ✌
For those who find this video hard to understand, let me help you out. A daughter visits her paternal home back after some time with her boyfriend for marriage approval. Coincidentally, in her paternal house, another poor man's (expecting servant) daughter was getting married and that poor father was sad that his daughter will never come back to see him again. The moment poor man sadly bids goodbye to his daughter, he see that his boss's (maybe) daughter came back and she’s very happy. I was sooooo shocked to hear this on attack on titan. Do you remember what episode? It was when they were trying to find out who the female titan was in the forest, i remember. And when the two guys were crushing on the queen.
I remember listening to this back then when i was teenager working in a cafe .. and they play some kind of lounge music.. and there was this track.. from buddha bar album.. what makes me in to this song is the instrument and vocal.. i do feel the vibes.. on top that it's in punjabi.. and I'm also an punjabi muslim.. something unique kind of feels..
People still producing such masterpieces but it doesn't reach to maximum people. The listeners are limited. And unfortunately music like this remains underrated.
I’m so in love with the look and feel of every single Indian music video produced in the late 90s and early 00s. There’s something timeless about the quality of the music, the cinematography, the little stories that each MV tells, the models (gosh those models!), and the entire production. They are what would be classified as “low budget” in today’s indian entertainment landscape; and yet the content produced these days could never rival the one from the 90s-00s even if it was backed by billions of rupees.

Song written in the language of the eyes, the father's eye projected all that we need to see..visially transmitted all of the inner turmoil of letting go of one's heart's content, the dream of one's child. And the song is just exquisite...my sister used to sing just like that...well, the reason I listen to it 1st time is because of that..then I realized it was not Hindi. Wonderful arpeggios, a background tabla, a blurr pad and flutes to round off the serenity in this song.. I think the singer is the same as the one who sang in Mithoon Sharma's Debut Album "Tu Hi Mere Rab ki Tarah Hai" title track..
