I’m thinking of doing a masters in Theology, though this is purely a personal interest (I want to develop my understanding about the faith) - my motive was not to develop my career with it. I am pretty content with my career. My manager is ok with me studying theology as a part time masters as long as it doesn’t impact my ability to work (which it won’t). Studying a masters isn’t always about career growth - it can also be about personal growth!
The study of theology is not for this world but for the next. What we do in this world is suppose to prepare Christians for the next world/eternal life.
God doesn't reuqire anyone of us to get some kind of 'degree' to be prepared for the next life. He only requires us to OBEY HIM. That's the only way for a heavenly next life. Not by getting some degree.
@@m.mssss1 I know this is a very late reply but theology can help someone understand God better and thus allowing them to have a closer relationship with God. But yes, I agree that to get to heaven you dont need a degree of any sorts
What happens to the Protestant clergy who leave that congreation after finding a more complete truth in the Catholic faith, and the calling isn't into the priesthood or nunnery? This has got to be hard.
Which there was an ending to this story, I am considering doing this degree and I believe that their opportunities to teach with this masters so hopefully you can explore all options and find work if you have not done so already
Really? A Master of Theology degree requires you to develop critical thinking and writing skills to effectively wrestle with phenomenological challenges that people of average intellect cannot address. I suspect that since this poor soul understands that a theology degree means nothing in the world, he may need to reconsider where his life's perspectives are. Perhaps, he needs to meditate on Matthew 6:33 and use it to test his proposition about the value of a theological degree.

I'm seeing like one questionable decision after another. (1) He believed that an MTh was going to provide a means to make a living instead of prepare him to fulfill the Great Commission, (2) He got a MTh instead of an MDiv to become a "Senior Pastor," (3) He left a Protestant denomination to join the Catholic Church. Lord, help him....

I would like to get a degree in medieval history with a minor in theology

What's are the job prospects for holding a MDiv. over a MTh?

Most major denominations required an MDiv in order to get ordained. @@TickleMeElmo55
