    Love this bro. I just spent all night taking off my control panel for a SF2 World Warriors cabinet and putting new artwork on it. That's so satisfying. Thanks for putting out these videos my friend!

    Thanks to your video I was able to completely fix the Nintendo donkey Kong jr where the wood was saw toothed, trashed on the back. Did your wood hardener that stopped all the crumbling and then hit it with bondo layers. Amazing. Thank you so much

    I have a Defender that I have all gutted out for restore. The side art was in pretty good shape but some of the wood was in bad shape around the bottom of the cabinet. I have watched all of these and your Ms Pac Man as I have one to restore as well, probably new side art. Thanks for sharing your experiences. It’s helpful for those of us that are new to this. 😊

      I’m glad my videos are helpful, Levi! Do you have an original Defender PCB set, or are you going to run a JROK or something?

      I want to say it’s original. Everything in it sure looks original. I want to completely restore it as original as I can. Arcade parts and repair probably is very tired of hearing from me 😂 for my pac cocktail.

      Nice! Peter at APAR is the best. You can also always post questions on the KLOV forums or various Facebook groups. Or ping me in a comment here, on Twitter, or Discord and I’ll try my best to respond!

    Do you work in the arcade industry? You mentioned you traveled for work. Do you work for a big arcade company like Namco or Raw Thrills? That would be pretty cool.

      I don’t work in the arcade/amusement industry, but I’d pick up the phone if Eugene Jarvis was calling! #justsaying

    I love your videos, I would love your advice on thinner Nintendo cabs. Do you think this method would be good to fix back edges from top to bottom of Nintendo cabinet on the left and right of read door? This one is just thrashed. I’m guessing from sliding it in and out of trucks over its life without rear door and likely why there IS no rear door anymore

      Nintendo cabinets are a bit of a different beast because of the baked-on gelcoat Nintendo used on the sides and front of the cabs. There’s really no way to perfectly match the original finish, so if it’s bad enough that you want to attempt a major repair, you’ll kinda have to redo the entire side - either repainting it completely or installing laminate.

    Homemade wood hardner = Acetone and plexiglass. Cut up plexiglass and place in acetone. It will melt the plexiglass. Acetone gets the plastic into the wood, then evaporates, leaving the plastic reinforcement. If on a bigger budget just use schlack.

    You all have great informative videos! Question: My Defender arcade reverse doesn’t work and the spaceship goes downwards automatically, and when playing two player, it goes to cocktail mode on two player but not one player. Appreciate if knowing what might be causing this, is it an bad interface board? Wiring looks good. Thank you, Will.

    • @overtimearcade
      @overtimearcade  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the kind words, Will! If you’re 100% sure the wiring and leaf switches aren’t to blame, then I’d suspect the interface board (aka widget PCB). But I’d triple check the wiring (including ground loop) and leaf switches first to make sure there’s nothing mechanically wrong. Good luck!

      @@overtimearcade ok great, I have this arcade repair guy check it, went over today to get the ground wire fixed and get it running, that’s a great idea, I’ll see if that works, I’m sure it will. By the way, really enjoy watching your restoration videos on Joust and repairing a Defender game! Thank you very much for the advice!

      @@overtimearcade sounds good, look forward to your video. One quick question, these issues with my Defender are fixable? With trying these steps that you mentioned.

    • @overtimearcade
      @overtimearcade  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yup, those issues should be fairly easily fixable. But it always comes down to figuring out exactly what the root cause is. That’s often the trickiest part.

    It’s only original once. I like the patina …I have to have that 80s 90s original feel in my collection or I won’t even buy the game. I would do what it takes to keep the game running and leave the rest alone

    • @overtimearcade
      @overtimearcade  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I feel the same way and am definitely leaning towards just painting over the repair at the base of the cabinet and leaving the rest of the side art alone!

      Yep, I kinda botched things a little bit here… 😂 But I was able to recover from it and the final result of this restoration project came out pretty well!
