    THANK YOU I've been wondering what that "crunchy" sound was that all those older tracks have, I knew samplers were used but didn't realise it was 16 bit

    I really appreciate all the effort you put into replicating the old sound while also updating it. I'm a big fan of the crunchier sounds ( I think a lot of people my age that are gamers do cause our music taste was formed through 16 bit soundchips) So I really appreciate you salvaging all the old instruments

    This was an awesome watch!!! Thanks for sharing. I’m a 90’s industrial fan as well. Sisters Of Mercy, Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, Type O Negative etc. I’ve always loved the machine like loops. I just subscribed to your channel. I especially appreciate the fact that you’re still rocking hard and that you’re in a modern studio, rolling with the sonic punches.
    Keep on Rockin’

      You can teach yourself. You can make some pretty decent stuff using free open source software, free and cheap sample packs (I got many of mine from computer music composition magazines) vst plugins and your creativity. I tend to use tracking programs like OpenMPT.

    Any plans for remastering the old MP3s.com release of "Broken"? It is my all time favorite whereas your music is concerned? Don't get me wrong. I love the new stuff a lot. There's just something about Broken that speaks to me on a theme song level.

    Question, I'm not very musically inclined, but I'm pretty good with lyrics. Could I send you some of lyrics and you derive a track from them? I'm not looking for fame or money for this, just want to share my abilities with the music community.

    Klayton, you are my musical hero...
    But, knowing nothing about the legal side of music, why'd you have to buy the rights back to your own songs?

    • @dustfan
      @dustfan 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Think of a musician like a painter or a carpenter. They are contractors. Someone pays them to create music, a painting or a deck. When a painter sells a painting the person that bought it now owns it, not the original artist. When a carpenter builds a deck for you, you now own that deck not the carpenter. Back then Klayton did not have his own label so the label he worked for, R.E.X. I believe, owned the Circle of Dust music. Eventually they went bankrupt and he could no longer make music under the Circle of Dust name. I believe they did offer to sell it back to him earlier than now but they wanted a ridiculous sum of money. Eventually when they realized they were never going to make anything off of it they finally relented and agreed to sell it back to him at a reasonable price. Of course, now that he runs his own label he doesn't have to worry about that anymore but back then he did not have the capability to make an album (logistically speaking) without the financial backing of a label.

      dustfan Ah, thanks very much. You explained it perfectly. I really started to pay attention to Klayton from his early Celldweller days so i don't know much about the CoD side of his life. Thanks for the great explanation.

    • @dustfan
      @dustfan 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No problem doc. Even us old school CoD fans never knew the whole story as for a long time he would not talk about it. He has started opening up about it recently, here is a very good interview about his start in the music business:
