I must write this in English so more people understand: when I moved to the Netherlands there was no one who could help out in this basic day to day things so I had to learn the hard way. Looking like a fool hundreds of times, always avoiding to use English, and not understanding most things that were being said to me. Still I pushed and always tried to learn from errors. Thank you so much Luis for your great comment! It just makes my day! I have a crowdfunding platform, which is Patreon, and a lot of lovely students are backing my project! It's amazing! I have great gear (it's a Rode microphone) but I was just unlucky that it was "kapot" ;) They are repairing it, or I will get a new one. I don't want to tell you how to your job, but as a general practice it's always good to have redundancy in any critical components. For example: If your camera fails you probably have your phone as a backup camera. The same would apply to audio. Just plug a cheap lavaliere mic into your phone (a decent yet cheap one is the Boya BY-M1 for 17 euros on amazon), and always have that running as well. Btw, I just found your channel today and so far it's awesome 🙂
I actually found you through the Ecolinguist channel about a month ago, with the "Can English speakers understand Dutch" videos. I had a lot of fun with those (and hope you and Norbert will collab on more videos!). I'm intermediate level in German, so that helps a LOT in understanding Dutch. A fluent speaker would have an easier time than I do, but I enjoy the challenge and enjoy seeing the similarities between Germanic languages :) So I'm subscribing to this channel as well :) Bedankt voor de geweldige video's!

Hello, Kim. Wow. Amazing. Discovered your TH-cam page a few days ago. And now I am addicted. Hartelijk dank...
Just discovered your channel, I really like your videos and the fact that I understand you perfectly while you're explaining everything in Dutch without turning on the English subtitle. I've been learning Dutch at home for some time now and in the beginning I had this impression that men usually speak better or more clearer for my ears and I found flemish easier than Dutch (maybe because of the pronounciation). I changed my opinion when I saw your first video (it was the topic of werkwoorden met voorvoegsels). I live in Spain so I don't have many opportunities to put the knowledge into practice as I don't know anyone who speak Dutch here but your videos help me to keep my mind updated. I appreciate your work and all the effort you put into these videos!

I learned French Spanish etc. , just by watching TV or youtube. I am doing the same for Dutch. I am fluent in German that helps a lot. But when Kim speaks I try to catch 3-5 words in a sentence and read off one or two meanings. Dont try to grasp the whole sentence perfectly. Given time your brain would make this up like zig saw puzzle. I am a brain doctor and speak 22 languges Never bought a book Never took written notes. I just type on word files.
Another suggestion I would make is to learn German first. There has to be very good reason for anyone to learn Dutch. I'm originally from Belgium and have been living in the US for 26 years now.
We used to have our own markets in the cities and villages near our house but once in a while we would go to the one in Tilburg, only 50 km up north from our house...
I miss those...not found here in the US...echt gezellig....
Mij boodschappenlijstje:
1. Kip bouillon
2. Vis (2 ons)
3. Kip fillet
4. Champignon
5. Knoflook
6. Kool
7. Havermelk
Dank u wel! 🥰
Heel erg bedankt...

Bedankt. Trouwens, Ik eet ook geen dierlijke producten.🤗
Leuk!! Dank je wel 😊 en veel succes! Eet smakelijk ;)
