Hey guys! These are from our first few games, some errors we made… - Rending is on the Wound Roll. - You must charge what you shoot. - Reactions don’t cause the enemy to take a morale check. - Cataphractii units cannot pursue in an assault. These get ironed out over the next couple games.
Minor issue we find with nuherssy is it’s close enough to 7th edition you make assumptions then you look back afterwards to find out noooo what have I done
You might consider using tape measures instead of these red plastic 18" measures from AoD box, because they latter are inaccurate. Mine is missing 0.5". Apparently they are so old they shrunk or something.
Also - remember, that with your RoW, you get Preferred Enemy (Independent Charakter), which also trigers, if an IC is in a unit! =] Also also - The only reaction, one can do against arriving Deep Strike units is Interceptor, so no running away, pretty handy =]
33:04 concussive works differently now. Concussed unit needs to do a Ld check and if failed, the units WS is reduced by the amount in brackets. BRB pg 236

Great report, Just one point to note: "A unit that has made a Shooting Attack in the Shooting Phase can only charge a unit that it targeted during that turns Shooting phase" P180 Age of Darkness Rulebook
Another Note: Page 147 Liber Astartes, and was also the same last edition: Cataphractii Terminator armor cannot sweeping advance so the Immortals would have gotten away. Also page 190 of the main rulebook, about the sweeping advance roll off and adding the units INT, "Any that it equals or beats are destroyed". So the Dreadnought against the tactical squad would have caught them and wiped them. Also, all the shooting reactions are decided after armor save rolls are made but before damage mitigation rolls and casualties removed. Page 158 main rulebook, so you don't declare it until you see the result.
@@XTROOPERS9 There’s a contradiction; apparently you only catch them if you equal in a multiple combat, but in a 1-1 you only get them if you beat it. This is explained in two sections in the rulebook and confused the hell out of us.

I have a lot to say. Before I get into rules stuff, I'm really glad to see someone else using Deliverers. They are hecka cool. It's a shame your luck bringing them in was so bad, but they still ended up doing work. Okay, so rule stuff. Reactions in the Shooting phase are done after all saves are make. Yes, this does make the timing of Evade and Shrouded very confusing. The difference between Rending and Breaching is that Rending has an effect on armor pen and counts triggering wound rolls as successful. This makes talon Deliverers surprisingly good against dreadnoughts. @26:38 Preferred Enemy would have triggered. (I constantly forget that with Decapitation Strike. 🤦♂️) Evade is for that Shooting Attack, not for the whole phase. (The RG special reaction is the one that lasts all phase.) Charge reactions are after determining charge distance. The talon Deliverers would have had 5 attacks each. 2 base, plus 2 for double talons, plus 1 for charging. Apothecaries don't count as a separate unit, so you wouldn't score a point for killing one. Edit: Removed a few things you caught.

This is such a coincidence, I played a 1k game of my raven guard against Iron hands on Saturday. I'll wait to see, but in my game, didn't go well for the iron hands (dark furies annihilate power armor marines).
Im not sure with your understanding of some rules. Firstly reaction cant force moral check, secondly isnt rending on wound roll? Also cataprathii cant sweeping assault
You will rarely go wrong if you pick the one you enjoy painting the most. I am picking Alpha Legion because it let's me eventually buy all of the units I think look cool, regardless of Legion
all the errors on the ravenguard players part make this a bad source for learning rules. cataphractii dont sweeping advance. no morale from reactions just pinning checks, cant multi target shooting and charge rending is basis wound roll. clearly all innocent mistakes theyre learning the new rules of the game as we all are
Everything about this game demonstrates aptly why I don't have any interest in this whatsoever. Glad I gave it a watch at least, but man those armies were so similar looking I often had a lot of difficulty figuring out whose models were actually whose.
i mean thats gonna happen when both factions primary color is black haha. I will say rules wise each legion does feel unique and have its own play styles. Also while there are non-space marine factions in the game, if youre not a fan of space marines and their asthetic then HH probably wont be your cup of tea, and thats okay. To each their own 👍

It's a new edition that's just different enough from HH 1st, and 40K 9th. I bet a lot of people are going to make some rules mistakes for a bit.

When reacting in the shooting phase you don't need to decide which reaction to do, if any, until you have rolled saves.
Rending is triggered on the “to wound” roll. Great report! Keep them coming!!!

You actually declare shooting phase reactions after you roll saves. Gives you a lot of info for if you want shrouded more than shoot back
