- Equipped with a 6-string tenor ukulele, Casey MacGill breezed into the Ukulele studio and wowed us with a few songs from his playlist, his easy charm, and great sense of humor.
MacGill performs regularly in the the Seattle area on cornet, piano, vocals, and ukulele and is a regular clinician at ukulele festivals. The man can swing and listening to him is a bit like a trip in a time machine.
The John Morton resonator Casey uses on this session is modeled after the Kamaka “Liliu” 6-string he used for three decades. It features two doubled courses of strings (the C and A strings are doubled) that gives the instrument a more orchestral sound without cramping the fingerboard with all doubled strings.
Casey played two classics and an original tune:
0:04 “You’re My Dish,” by Jimmy McHugh and Harold Adamson, with some inspiration from Fats Waller
1:57 “I’m Through With Love” written by Fud Livingston, Gus Kahn, and Matty Malneck, and made famous by Bing Crosby’s 1931 recording.
5:01 “I’m Going to Love You Tonight” an original. - เพลง
I love love this song. We used to go to the pink door to listen to you and the trio! You’re still our favorite to this day! ❤️
ACES! Wonderful!
Now that's class! Old school charm with talent and technique to match. Brilliant.
Love it! Please do an album of ukulele swing standards!
This is the first time I've heard "You're my dish" Love these older songs on the ukulele.. so glad I picked up the instrument a few years ago. I spent about 20 minutes transcribing it so I can play it later...a wonderful, catchy little jump tune. And love 'I'm going to Love you tonight' thats the next transcription. Thank you for sharing .
absolutely fabulous👏👏👏👏 thanks a lot👍
No one swings like Casey. Brilliant!

Slick as can be!
“I’m Through With Love” was also sung by Marilyn Monroe in the movie "Some Like It Hot" by Billy Wilder
Yes, it was. It's also on 'Some Like It Hot: The Music of Marilyn Monroe,' by Casey's good friend Rebecca Kilgore and the Harry Allen Quartet.
