Things like this confuse the average Anglo-American's perspective on Latin America. Not even Mexico is a dystopian setting with a yellow filter full of cacti and buildings in ruins without maintenance, and neither is bossa nova heard in a typical way, since this music genre is Brazilian... as we say in Spanish: "no mamen!"

I´m mexican and I was about to tell you that Bossa Nova is not a mexican musical style but brazillian... but after listening to this beautiful tracks I can confirm this is the kind of music that you will listen in a nice mexican café for breakfast like Sanborns or Vips

I listened to this to stay calm when I was pregnant during lockdown and unable to see my husband. Now we're listening to it together, with my baby's hand curled around my little finger. Life gets better
son las 11 AM en la ciudad de México justo ahora, no tengo mucho trabajo y como lo hago desde casa me pasé toda la mañana dibujando flores y cactus (inspirado por el video). Como no había desayunado me tomé un descanso para comer, nada del otro mundo: huevos, unas salchichas, papas fritas y agua de jamaica.
En fin a lo que voy es que una mañana que bien pudo ser aburrida se hizo amena y divertida gracias al video.
Una mañana de chamba en México con el ambiente frío, la vista matutina de los volcanes y un chocomilk caliente.

I'm Brazilian, and the second track is Bossa Nova, a brazilian music genre. It comes from the mix of jazz music and other brazilian genres. The first is not from Brazil, but the guitar is similar to flamenco's...

Las cactaceas son de bajo mantenimiento y cuidado, así que tendría sentido que estén en casi cualquier parte del país, además se las usa cómo "plantas limitrofes" en parcelas. Para bien o mal, serán inherentes a nosotros por utilidad, más que por identidad.
