What a great storyteller, and that voice. "El Paso" is a must listen, one of the great country ballads of all time.
Agree, El Paso is a must 🤓
Actually it's western not country
We lost the great Marty Robbins much too soon! What a great singer, what a great story teller!!!
@@GoldenHawk_I was gonna say this... it's western music not country
South Texas guy here. My dad used to play this song with his buddy while I ran around our house with a fake horse below me. Marty Robbins is a legend, there is so much more!
It's Dusty
Patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter.
I see you're a man of culture as well.
🤙🍻
My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys. Nobody sang cowboy songs better than the velvet voice of Marty Robbins. Great choice and analysis, as usual.
When I was little my grandpa would pick us up in his big gold cadillac at my mom's house in L.A. and from Bakersfield to Fresno he'd pop in this 8-track and we'd all sing along to every word. When CDs came out, it was the first one I bought, so I could listen in the car.
Marty Robbins is a master story teller. The El Paso trilogy and the battle of the Alamo are a good start.
"Twenty men had tried to take him. Twenty men had made a slip. Twenty-one would be the ranger with the big iron on his hip."
No question Marty Robbins was sooo great at telling the story in his songs. Just fantastic. As a kid growing up in El Paso these songs were on the radio ALL the time.
Glad you reacted to it.
As we say in Texas; y'all be safe.
The acoustic guitar on this track was played by a Nashville legend named Grady Martin. He is on a ton of 50's, 60's, and 70's Nashville hits. Listen again and focus on the acoustic lead licks Grady is playing. Absolutely fantastic guitar player.
What a description of Marty Robins voice, "it flowed like honey out of his mouth." Brilliant!
Thanks for the reaction!
Marty Robbins was a class act. His songs are so fun to sing a long with :)
Marty is one of the true troubadour story tellers, I grew up to his music and others like him.
This really makes me long for a Good Cowboy movie! Even a night of western type TV! Wagon Train, Rawhide, maybe even Maverick, with a step down of The Rebel or even The Rifleman! Marty Robins great voice and music bring back the days when the settlers were in trouble and depended on hearing the belling of the Charge! And the thunder of the horses of the Cavalry
Marty Robbins was a great story teller in his songs. AS others have noted, his best known song was "El Paso", a great tragic song. It was also performed by the best cover band ever, the Grateful Dead, but only live in concert, not on a studio album.
Big Iron, I own a 1871 Colt "Peacemaker".. Rosewood grips with Silver Rattlesnakes and exact holster like Clint Eastwood's Man With No Name
Heart - "Crazy On You".... "Barracuda"...."Magic Man"... all are bangers
Loved watching you love this song and Marty!! You can't get better than a Marty Robbins ballad...perfection!!....I suggest listening to 'The Master's Call' and 'The Ballad of the Alamo' which are both on this album. Also 'Utah Carol' and 'El Paso'
Two other great songs from Marty Robbins is Prairie Fire & His Master’s Call. I’m not religious at all & the latter song still gives me chills no matter how many times I’ve heard it. If you do believe it must be very meaningful!
Master’s Call is awesome I agree. Being a Christian makes this song very special and humbling.
Thanks again for all your efforts! Great song. More Marty Robbins!
Awesome articulate reaction - I love it. Have been a fan of this song for decades and your reaction was so spot-on and so susinct - Hats off to you! subbing now!
What a great western story teller! I am a huge pioneer fan!
Me too. Sons of the Pioneers were the best ever.
You had me in stitches laughing - great personality, great job and good looking too...
Great reaction and an accurate description of the song's composition.
You are the most articulate reactor I have seen thusfar, and that's why its such a pleasure to listen to you.
Great reaction JMBoy, you don't need words to convey meaning and emotion. Your expression(s) said a lot.
Marty Robbins - a great voice, always a great story teller. And, he had the respect of the top-tier NASCAR drivers on the track, he could hold his own with the best-of-the-best, on the track. A man's-man.
Marty Robbins did a three-part gunfighter story that I HIGHLY recommend. They were 1. El Paso 2. Felina 3. El Paso City. All three are fantastic story telling. But that's what he did. He was the master of story songs. Prairie Fire, Strawberry Roan, Six Brothers, Ride Cowboy Ride, Devil Woman, A White Sport Coat and so many others. His most powerful and beautiful song is "My Woman, My Woman, My Wife." It was the top Country/Western song of 1970.
Faleena.
Marty also loved Stockcar racing and even raced NASCAR. So he came to Reno in the 1960s to perform and raced at our local oval racetrack. Father ran that night with others against. Good times and met him too
The game Fallout Vegas features this song on the radio.
"BIG Iron"
To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day
Hardly spoke to folks around him, didn't have too much to say
No one dared to ask his business, no one dared to make a slip
For the stranger there among them had a big iron on his hip
Big iron on his hip
It was early in the morning when he rode into the town
He came riding from the south side slowly lookin' all around
He's an outlaw loose and running, came the whisper from each lip
And he's here to do some business with the big iron on his hip
Big iron on his hip
In this town there lived an outlaw by the name of Texas Red
Many men had tried to take him and that many men were dead
He was vicious and a killer though a youth of 24
And the notches on his pistol numbered one and 19 more
One and 19 more
Now the stranger started talking, made it plain to folks around
Was an Arizona ranger, wouldn't be too long in town
He came here to take an outlaw back alive or maybe dead
And he said it didn't matter he was after Texas Red
After Texas Red
Wasn't long before the story was relayed to Texas Red
But the outlaw didn't worry men that tried before were dead
20 men had tried to take him, 20 men had made a slip
21 would be the ranger with the big iron on his hip
Big iron on his hip
The morning passed so quickly, it was time for them to meet
It was 20 past 11 when they walked out in the street
Folks were watching from the windows, everybody held their breath
They knew this handsome ranger was about to meet his death
About to meet his death
There was 40 feet between them when they stopped to make their play
And the swiftness of the ranger is still talked about today
Texas Red had not cleared leather 'fore a bullet fairly ripped
And the ranger's aim was deadly with the big iron on his hip
Big iron on his hip
It was over in a moment and the folks had gathered round
There before them lay the body of the outlaw on the ground
Oh, he might have went on living but he made one fatal slip
When he tried to match the ranger with the big iron on his hip
Big iron on his hip
Big iron, big iron
When he tried to match the ranger with the big iron on his hip
Big iron on his hip
My dad turned me on to Marty Robbins when I was 10. I'm 61 now. I used to lay in bed and fall asleep to this great storyteller and voice!!
You have the best reaction channel, you actually let us listen to every note of the music with out interruptions. After you give excellent reviews. I watch you everyday. Imagine a movie review with someone talking through the whole movie. LOL
Aw man, who doesn't love his voice! Two of my absolute faves are The Masters Call and Ballad of the Alamo. RIP Mr Robbins.
Marty Robbins was the last of the singing cowboys.
Marty had the BEST voice and what a storyteller
love this reaction, your analysis is just so great! ahaha subscribed!
Marty Robbins was another always played in the household when my siblings and I were growing up. Try #El Paso Trilogy {#Feleena and #El Paso City} .. #Cool Water .. #Hangin' Tree .. #Ghost Riders in the Sky and many more.
"Big Iron" long barreled Colt 44
he is a legend , many hits ! "dont worry about me ",white sport coat ", 'i walk alone "
One of thr many songs used for fallout new vegas i always tend to listen to the most catchy. Rip marty
Shitfire back as a kid in the 70s out camping my dad just pick up a guitar and everybody around would come by the camp area and drink and sing.
Essa é muito boa. Parabéns pelo teu trabalho. 😁👍🏻
Great reaction to this old classic! Not a bad tune on this entire album, it's a favorite of mine. Great stories, especially El Paso, my birth place 😊.
El Paso must be next.
My mom had this album when I was a kid in the 70’s. The album was like a movie.
perrrrr~fection ! thanks so much and keep bringing it : )
You're going to DIG this one.....Van Morrison - Moondance

Ill watch again.
Great story telling!
Great reaction to a great song, I watched it two consecutive times for those reasons.
Marty Robbins has a ton of good songs.
Great reaction sir!
The Arizona Rangers were a small elite law force. For The Texas rangers, it's said "One Ranger, One Riot." Arizona Rangers were one county or range war per ranger, at the time there were 14 counties. There's the trilogy of El Paso, Felena , and El Paso City, also try the Master's Call.
That was a song that kept your math in check
my parents had that album and I grew up listening to it. Another good one of his, more of a group song, is "Ghost Riders in the Sky" Lots of groups have done it, but I like his version best.
This was in my dad's collection and I'm in my 60s
The Beatles - "Helter Skelter" on your Patreon page is a special treat, Thanks.
Western gun battles were subtle and rarely realized. Almost everyone had a gun and most decided to breathe another day! It was the news paper guys who made it a romance story
San Angelo is another great tune with another great story
Before he even cleared leather!
1 and 19 more
Grew up listening to this album- my dad’s- it was smaller than a regular size vinyl lp- think it was an import
My grandad would listen to Marty on 8 track in garage/barn when I was kid. I LOVED going out there and listening Marty , learning how to turn a wrench at 5 yo!
Marty always brings these stories to life. Have a listen to "The ballad of Bill Thaxton" I get choked up every time I listen to it.
“They're Hanging Me Tonight” & "The Hanging Tree" .....
hmmmm theres a pattern here : )
Big Iron was based on
a true story about a Arizona ranger around late 1800's to early 1900's
Guy Clark "Last Gunfighter Ballad"
"1 plus 19 more"
You’re doing a great job with your videos. Keep working hard man! I love the back drop and audio quality. Keep working to improve. Thank you for the content
You should try El Paso 🇨🇦🖖🏻
My moms favorite singer. Try “Masters call” and of course El Paso
Battle of the Alamo is another great one from Marty.
The Moody Blues - Tuesday Afternoon
Rod Stewart "I Was Only Joking" in your Patreon page is AWESOME... But his name deserves a place in your Playlist here at this channel.... Find any version of "Maggie May" should do fine.

It was nineTEEN plus one, or 20, still fairly impressive for a lone outlaw though, especially a "Youth of 24."
The Texas rangers motto was - one riot 1 gun.

Mr shorty is a great one too
He had several old West songs even in New Mexican songs. He also had a few modern time songs back then. I won't say my favorite songs I just want you to go further down in the rabbit hole. I want to make clear I loved all of his music but there is a few I liked a little more. I really liked the man himself!
I cant help but picture Clint Eastwood and yosemitti sam

Robert Palmer - I Didn't Mean To Turn You On (Official Video)

Both Roy Orbison and Marty Robbins voices were compared to operatic singers by Don McLean (American Pie, Vincent) and Don also had an album of him singing Marty's songs written or associated with him. Though El Paso is probably still Marty's main masterpiece, Big Iron has been challenging its pre-eminence by inclusion in the game Fall Out Vegas which introduced many new listeners to the man who was consistently voted by country music fans as the number 1 country singer. Marty was not only a fabulous vocalist, but his songwriting was second to none and as versatile as his vocalising was. I enjoyed your reaction and thanks for the way you actually listened without interrupting! The next gunfighter ballad you should listen to is 'The Master's Call' or try Johnny Cash's 'Don't Take Your Guns To Town.'

master call is great..
Here's some interesting history for you. The Arizona rangers were a group of about 20... yes 20 men who kept the peace in the Arizona territory prior to it becoming a state. Modeled after the Texas Rangers and founded in 1901, the Arizona Rangers were tasked with hunting down and arresting outlaws in the Territory, especially along the Mexican border. By 1908, most of the outlaws had been arrested, killed, or had fled into Mexico. The Rangers were disbanded in 1909, shortly before Arizona became a state.
He said 1 and 19 more or in other words Texas Red had killed 20 men.
AC/DC - "Highway To Hell"
Pick any song on that album and the stories are just as good and just as vivid.
Bad Company - "Rock n Roll Fantasy"

DONE.... TOO COOL
I agree with Eric that "El Paso" is a must listen, and would like to add that Marty's version of Stan Jones' "Ghost Riders in the Sky" is my favorite. You can find it here: th-cam.com/video/fD5kS3G1Jkk/w-d-xo.html ✌
He sang Ghost Riders in the sky with The Sons of the Pioneers.
You aught to watch the video of this song starring Clint Eastwood in one of his western movies.
