Obviously, they don't want the orangs to get too attached to humans, so they can become independent in the jungle like they're meant to, but I'm guessing they also rotate staff so that the caregivers don't get too attached to the orangs, since watching the show makes it seem so easy to fall in love with these gentle creatures. I feel like I'VE become too attached to them, and I only spent a few hours watching the show.

FYI, Indonesian people in some regions of sumatera and borneo started to give their children (or changed names for some cases) with western names in 70' as they adopted the names from what they saw on newspaper and TV, but still keeping their surnames.
BTW Ursula reminds me of one of the main characters in 90's movie Georgee of The Jungle, a family comedy about a man raised by gorilla. Maybe a coincidence but might be her parents watched the movie too.

Unfortunately we're doing it to all the other apes. I think Bonobos are doing even worse, as I recall there's only about ~5000 of them left in the wild and they're as close to human as you can get without being one. I think it's getting even worse now, because of most of them inhabiting area that's in a middle of civil war. They're even able to learn English (not to speak it, but to understand it) - I recommend looking it up, it's stunning!
The only apes (except us) that aren't really 'friendly' or 'gentle' are Chimpanzees, as they can be violent in very human-like way. In the 70s we even recorded full war ('Gobe Chimpanzee War') between two clans of Chimpanzees. And it was a brutal one.

These teenage are very demanding for their milk. They love their caregiver.

Amazing commitment these humans have, and what a blessing and honor to be able to do what they love. Jumbo, is just too stinking sweet! The losers poaching these animals deserve serious prison time. It's not about the imporant ecological services that animals provide in general, but it's the humane to do with regards to helping wildlife. How inspiring, and to all these caregivers, we couldn't be more proud.

That's amazing. They don't make too much attachment so they won't become dependent, they teach them how to use tools to survive, they teach them how to fight back and teach them to be sacred of the things they should fear like snakes. That's very professional work there.
That is why this sanctuary and other sanctuaries employing the same methods are more successful rehabilitating orphaned orangutans and releasing them into the wild. But some sanctuaries (if you see videos of tourists interacting with orangutans) are less successful because the orangutans there are too humanized and have become dependent on humans.

Thank you so much to all the caregivers, teaching these orphans how to become wild and survive, your love, care and devotion to the orangutans in my eyes make you all hero's. For without your teachings, care and love, these Great Apes would become extinct a lot fast than is tragically already happening.

They're not volunteers. Most of the carers are from the local community hired to look after these orangutans. However, it doesn't dismiss the fact that these carers care for their charges.
