I'm surprised that he picked neither Brady nor Whelan. In my opinion they were the best Irish midfielders during McCarthy's international playing years.
Because he accepts mediocrity in all it's ugly forms and resents players who towered above him in talent....whether it's Brady, Whelan or Keane....this mediocre mindset is the reason Roy walked in 2002
Michael Jenkins Possibly. McCarthy retired in '92 from international football, Keane made his debut in '91. They were definitely in the same squads at some point, there was even an incident if I remember correctly from Keane's first book.
@Liam Yeah, I knew if he had played with him it couldn't have been often. You make a good point, but I'd still definitely have young Roy Keane over Andy Townsend in his prime. He was excellent at Forest. And Norman Hunter can't have been the player he was at Leeds when he was playing with Barnsley in his late 30s!
Keane would call in hurt like he did with Ireland but would like to see Irwin in that team a real team man and a good cork man and Irish man always there for Ireland not like that other cork man
Absolutely 💯 man was dreadful manager and so called player absolutely horrific player of the highest order robbed a liveing as a player and a manager 😮
orlandiniyeah I play for the club packie played for at underage level and he's a legend of Celtic and Keadue. Don't remember him for the one bad game he had remember all the good ones.
@@CradaOC that was a good Irish team in ‘90 - I follow Holland, I took a month off work to watch all of 90, thought we had a good chance at winning it - we drew 3, lost one then went home - 😟
Hunter, McGrath, Stapleton and Sheedy are top flight....but I notice he's picking most of his Ireland teammates...the rest are comical. McCarthy is such a mediocrity merchant....this is why Keane walked in 02'....
Well Hello am Mick County boy McCartney am a boring football manager who play's 442 all my football career I got Wolves relegated from the Premier League and Tuck REP of Ireland to the world cup in 2002 in Japan I've won nothing in my career as always.😂😂😂
+Joseph Kane I know it's funny how he talks about he plays Old fashioned 442 but I respect him what he did for my country Ireland in the world Cup 2002.
