This song was written during a very sad time, about how content creators in the spotlight can feel dehumanized and not given the same rights and treatment as normal people, and sometimes treated as less than a person. LYRICS: With all eyes on me Gazes vigilant, I Feel no privacy vultures waiting for the scraps Its not yet to be seen If we were meant to take this, and The camera’s eye Starting to take control Like a puppet on a stage But the strings aren’t mine it all could end tomorrow but tomorrow just won’t come What if tomorrow shows That you still aren’t there for me I’ll call on and on and on But you’re still not answering Please won’t you listen to the cries of the crowd? (Its all in your head) I’m sure they won’t say that when the lines have gone down So keep on preaching your consolation rest assured, you were there when it mattered least I’m drowning in a sea of fake sympathy No one ever seems to care When the signs are showing, pay attention The good ones fight to stay afloat In the tide of adversity never Forget that through the camera’s eye They are starting to lose control Won’t you answer me I’m drowning in a sea of fake sympathy No one ever seems to care When the signs are showing, pay attention The good ones fight to stay afloat In the tide of adversity never Forget that through the camera’s eye They are starting to lose control
Ok, a few things... The guitar work is spot on, like usual. No issues there. Lyrics are relateable. Yes, it's about content creators, but others can relate to it too. The song seems to be about living a lie and how others respond in kind. How your outward appearance can be so much different than what resides inside. I have two concerns regarding the lyrics. There is a lot of raw emotion, making it a powerful song, regardless of your concerns over vocal range and consistency. They are fine, not perfect, but nothing is. Don't shoot for it. Accept criticizm, ignore blatant hate, learn, improve, move on. Maintaining that emotional delivery in later performances (assuming later performances... I cannot pretend to know your plans) may be difficult if you are in a different state of mind. Think of the band Metallica. Their old stuff is raw emotion. That very emotion killed one of the members and nearly killed off others. It also nearly tore the band apart. Their new stuff sounds hollow in comparison. Ride the Lightning, vs The Black Album, vs Load/Reload, vs St. Anger. The tone changes a lot from one to another as the band learns. Last bit is regarding the screaming portion. That will be difficult to maintain over time. A good example is Linkin Park. They will be missed. All of that aside, is it "my kind of song"? Not really. It's a solid piece of music, but it's not my music. I appreciate your work. It's good stuff. I'll be listening to some of the game remakes more often. Gotta grab them from iTunes. Thank you for sharing this bit with us. I look forward to your next piece of original work, in addition to the remix/remake entries.
Damn TH-cam, how do you not recommend me the good shit until 2 weeks after it's up! I sympathize so hard with this, as a content creator I occasionally feel like I'm just a pawn to the platform, or that viewers only view me as a source of entertainment to make the videos that they want and not as a human being. Thanks for this song Brandon, it really hits home now.
I found you through Kmac's shit, and I'm IN LOVE with your original music as much as I love Kmac's original music. I can sense the soul, love, and passion put into this. The vocals on the ambient parts are just absolutely beautiful. You earned my sub bro. BTW you and Kmac gotta collab on an Imposter EP part 2 or at least something similar.. I would listen to that shit on the daily.
dawg its always a blast seeing your original content. i definitely understand that it gets daunting to work on something or being afraid if it doesn't meet the personal standard we set in our heads.
I was gonna say this sounded a lot like Dream Theater at first, but then I started to get a taste of Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Red and Breaking Benjamin. It all blends together and sounds great, your singing especially!
I was getting more of a "Caligula's Horse meets Voices From The Fuselage" vibe from this, but it's gorgeous work that deserves to stand on its own without is making comparisons to other works... even though I just made one myself...
Found a new favorite.
Yoooo Jun just showed me this. Let's fucking goo! I really ike this vibe.

LYRICS:
With all eyes on me
Gazes vigilant, I
Feel no privacy
vultures waiting for the scraps
Its not yet to be seen
If we were meant to take this, and
The camera’s eye
Starting to take control
Like a puppet on a stage
But the strings aren’t mine
it all could end tomorrow
but tomorrow just won’t come
What if tomorrow shows
That you still aren’t there for me
I’ll call on and on and on
But you’re still not answering
Please won’t you listen to the cries of the crowd? (Its all in your head)
I’m sure they won’t say that when the lines have gone down
So keep on preaching your consolation
rest assured, you were there when it mattered least
I’m drowning in a sea of fake sympathy
No one ever seems to care
When the signs are showing, pay attention
The good ones fight to stay afloat
In the tide of adversity never
Forget that through the camera’s eye
They are starting to lose control
Won’t you answer me
I’m drowning in a sea of fake sympathy
No one ever seems to care
When the signs are showing, pay attention
The good ones fight to stay afloat
In the tide of adversity never
Forget that through the camera’s eye
They are starting to lose control

A year later and this is still tragically underrated.

This is so beautiful from the instrumental, vocals and lyrics. Great stuff and stay strong.
This is awesome my dude!
I know what you mean and can retrace this, but there is nothing you have to hide, this is an excellent song, also the production!

Very good!
Great stuff as always, thanks for releasing this awesome song
If you wouldn't mind, I'd love to make a Clone Hero chart out of this. It'd give me a project to get into while self-isolating.
that 3:58 section is so pretty tho
YES SIIIIR
Your vocals right before the guitar solo really do remind me of Charles Caswells singing style. Sick song!
Best April Fool's ever.
Dig it
In a way, it reminds me of Haken.. I love it
