The plastic scraper doesn’t last long the plastic crackers and the braces break off from the scraper if you buy one reinforce the arms or replace with steel ones
I'm in a raised ranch. I have 2-3 ft icycles hanging off the back of my house. It's too high for a roof rake. I could try the ice melt & hope I don't break a window I guess.
Hi Nicholas, Great question! Roof rakes in fact can damage roof shingles or any roof for that matter if not used properly. Roof rakes are not intended to scrape a roof clean, which will create risk of damage. Instead you want to try to shave the snow down to a 2 or 3 inches on the roof. These rakes by Avalanche have a softer surface on the end vs. a steel blade and may be a better option for you to consider. www.acehardware.com/departments/lawn-and-garden/snow-removal-and-equipment/roof-rakes?facetValueFilter=tenant~brand-name-attribute%3Aavalanche&query=roof%20rakes&categoryId=1963
you shouldnt touch the pucks with your hand, BUT it wont damage your shingles???
Just what we need.... Thank you!!
Thx man this helped me! Anyway, if there is ice on the edge of the roof, there is problem with hot air ventilation under the roof.
Don’t salt your roof with salt pucks

@Fred Wills on a roof?😂😂
Thanks for the great video!
Are those roof pucks safe for pets and other critters?
I have a Border Collie that thinks everything is a toy.
Great question, we have confirmed with Roof Melt that it is NOT pet safe.
Is the roof melt safe for homes with wells?
Great question Jenny! We checked with the manufacturer of Roof Melt and they do not recommend it for homes with wells.
@@AceHardware thank you for checking. I really appreciate it.
I just spent 30k on a new roof. Will these damage shingles?. Also the roof melt will damage shingles as it’s a salt,no?
