  • Keeping pH within the correct range means your plants will have access to the full menu of essential nutrient ions for optimal growth and productivity. Few things in life are perfect, but a grower needs to do whatever it takes to get their garden’s pH levels as perfect as possible. This guide will help you understand the various fluctuations in your nutrient system and help you become a better grower.

    Omg I've been searching for why my reservoirs ph was dropping for 2 weeks and your the only person that's actually explained this. Thank you so much

    Really appreciate you going through this information and putting it out there for everyone to think about. I'm growing in a tower garden as well as DWC and have to keep my PH around 5.8 , and this helps wrap my head around some of the signs i see.

    My nutrient solution's EC or pH doesn't move BUT as soon as I stick a plant in it instantly begins to go up. No root rot but within a day the pH can shoot up to 2 pts higher. How do I stop this in a Kratky as it will nutrient lock my tomato plants for sure then they will all perish?

    I have a question do naturally have cation and anion or do the plants automatically produce them?

    Thanks. Very informative. What do you think of using RO water in hydroponics?

    • @Inspiron41
      @Inspiron41  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad it help! For RO, it really depends on your water source and how serious your hydroponic system. If you're just starting out and looking to save cost, you can get get away using regular tap water and see how it goes. If you have an existing RO system in your home, then it would just be just some simple piping and tubing. Where I live and for my drinking water, there isn't a need for RO. So there would be marginal benefits to adding a RO system. If you live in area with lots of hard water, then you should consider it. Alternatively, you can do a rain-water gutter collection system too. I'm looking to design a much larger and compact system outdoors using rain water collection system.

    Anyone using city water and that stuff won't stop rising, I think if you let it sit for a week might help. I'm still working on it myself. Mine come from tap at 8,0 pH, I will make it 5.5pH, then it will go back to 8.0pH, I think letting it sit for a week is helping, mine is outside also.

      Yeah same problem here
      If i change my nutrient solution water, at the beginning of the day it show 6.9 but at the end of the day it shows 8.3.
      I don't why and am fed up of using phosphoric acid for ph down.

    Hi
    I'm growing leafy green. But my ph getting acidic.. My EC going down at the same time. But the drop is from 6.0 to 5.3 overnight.
    Thanks

    • @Inspiron41
      @Inspiron41  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Without know more about the specifics of your step and daily maintenance, it'll be hard to diagnose your issues. With leafy greens, the pH trends should be the other way around. When was the last time you did a flush and replenish the nutrients? What nutrient system are you using? What's your target EC value for the plants you're growing? How do the roots look? Is water level constant? Is your nutrients clear of algae? Are any of your leafy greens withering or dying? Make sure you're not over targeting your EC mixture too. That can also cause your pH to increase (acidic) too due to plants need of more water over nutrients. Good luck!

      @@Inspiron41 you have made very informative video,
      I'm having leafy green set up, with EC 1.8, since two years it's running well,
      But now ph moves to 7.6 in 30 minutes after starting motor, even after mixing acid and making nutrient water 5.9, we are using RO water,
      Kindly help ,
      Moreover, if we add acid and make water acidic, then the calcium carbonate concentration decreses? And does it renounce ( concentration) increases after some time?
      Thanks,
      Rohit

    Am I missing something? You're not the first person i've heard say something like this "the reservoir system is going to get more acidic, or an increase in PH." ... but acidic is a lower PH? ... right? i mean less ph is acidic and more ph is base?

    • @10z2

      Found your comment looking for others who noticed, he does not seem to have a clue what he's talking about.

    • @nomchompsky2883

      @@10z2 he's not the first i've seen say that and i wondered if it was some special pH jargon or something. lol... and instinctively when i didn't know i would have figured a high pH is acid and low pH is base, but i mean that is a very basic piece of information to know and understand... so when he does that he does an incredible disservice to those who might ruin their crop or at least be terribly confused. ultimately, like you said, it seems to show he has no idea what he's talking about.

  • @ericcrockett9637

    No offense man, you fundamentally describe pH incorrectly. pH down is acidic. pH up is basic. Your visual is even wrong. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

      man i just said the same thing... and i've seen other videos where they said the same thing and i was wondering if they call up down or something. lol. it really does a disservice to people. especially if it's someone just being introduced to the concept.

      Kinda funny but also sad, there are comments needing follow-up instructions cos they've been getting opposite results.
      Funny mostly cos they came back here :'D
      Research, and then research a little more.
