Tbh, from what I've seen, Karin and Setsuna were actually the ones who were initially paired together for scenes and the like quite a lot. So like, I guess what I'm trying to say is that Karin+Ai as a ship happened more in the vein of NicoMaki/Yohariko, aka, the franchise pairing them more often due to fans liking the dynamic rather than because of a pre-established connection

In the game, she even unknowingly teases Karin about her messy room and how she snores, haha.
