Tbh, from what I've seen, Karin and Setsuna were actually the ones who were initially paired together for scenes and the like quite a lot. So like, I guess what I'm trying to say is that Karin+Ai as a ship happened more in the vein of NicoMaki/Yohariko, aka, the franchise pairing them more often due to fans liking the dynamic rather than because of a pre-established connection

Karin and Emma live in the same dorms, and Emma knows a lot about how Karin lives since she often visits her in the anime, but in the game they’re roommates. In the game, she even unknowingly teases Karin about her messy room and how she snores, haha.
