Yeah because this song was early 80s so there was a lot of experimenting going on back then after punk music because as fun as punk was it wasn't very good either i agree on that it was just a lot of noise. Then the synth-pop started that is far more watered down and where they took the english accent from again especially early 80s where some bands sounded more punk than others, they were experimenting a lot with electronic sounds and synthesizers which was created in the 1960s especially david bowie when he started using synthesizers.

I can imagine that you will start your concert with this song very decently and inconspicuously and at the time of 1:56, the whole stage suddenly appears in the style of early 80s synthpop, illuminated by halogen lights and reflections of lights on the haze of dry ice fog. That moment of the onset of synthesizers is incredible and so very 80s! Who else could do it better and more authentically and take us to that period in a concert than the band FEX, who suddenly emerged from the 80s dimension!
I'm sure one will eventually appear once they find all these old songs. Hopefully they release the old versions on spotify as well as the rerecording they were planning.

One thing I love about pop and rock music from the 1980s are the colorful, kaleidoscopic chord progressions that, once too weird too be very popular, were suddenly mainstream. There are some great examples of these chord relationships in this song, and I think, besides the artistry of the band themselves, this is what helps "make" the song.

It was just a lot of playing around with electronic and synth back then there wasn't really a name for it. The new romantic movement was part of influencing the synth sound big time. They started using electronic sounds in the 60s but it wasn't until the late 70s they started using synth and a lot of bands and singers came out of it some successful some not. David bowie and Visage came along so the teens of the 80s weren't going for the classical rock stuff but the synth stuff. It was a nice try but it was all about the synth in the 80s.
@Harteo3917 thats a bit wrong, The Beatles for the Abbey Road sessions in 1969 used the Moog Synthesiser and a year before in 1968 I believe George Harrison released "Electronic Sound", which was an album of him simply messing around with a Moog Synthesiserv
@@laimo3 We're just talking about music influences we hear in the song, you can still make songs that sound a bit like older music without using the instruments they used. But they did use electronic sounds in a lot of 60s music especially the motown stuff that started in the 1960s for example chic le freak and boogie wonderland. Then you've got other songs like i'm a believer, i got you babe, do wah diddy diddy, magic carpet ride and a bunch of other songs that use electronic keyboards and this is where they start using electronic bass and guitars. The hippy stuff especially a lot of organ electronic keyboard sounds. Songs like white rabbit that totally influenced the punk stuff in the 70s and led zeppelin has existed since 1968 that started influencing what we know as classic rock using heavier electronic guitar sounds. The electronic keyboard organ sounds is what really brought about synthesizers.
A song that perfectly encapsulates the 80s economic attitude: lyrically and melodically. There's an optimistic sound, which behind it is a harmonious sound of fear and uncertainty. Another great tune! Of the "era," but applicable to any kind of radio format today. Bravo!
The suspense is terrible, I hope it'll last..
Happy we found FEX, seem like a good bunch of dudes and the fact that they've so quickly performed again, taken the time to do all the interviews and are releasing their material to us... it's amazing.
has to be my favorite song you guys released to date on god, still cant stop listening to it. it kind of has the same vibe as genesis music when peter Gabriel was with them. has to be my favorite song thus far, keep it up!
fex droppin after 40 years is fire 🔥
edit: MOMMAAA HOW TF DID J GET A HUNDRED LIKES IN 10 HOURSSSS
I need the *entire* Fex discography, I have to hear what else they've made.
This is just…really good. So glad the origin of Subways of Your Mind was found. Thank you for posting these songs.
80s is a great music era
So stoked for this one. All the way from the Philippines🇵🇭
I'm not entirely sure how to better describe it, but this is the kind of song that would run through my mind when I was a little kid watching obscure videos on topics I like, and it's also somewhat similar to what my dad would randomly put on to listen to, so this song is like an absolute nostalgia trip.
I am in awe at how remarkably each song is stellar in its own sound.
The song title is kind of appropriate. FEX's music is like GOLD and everyone is in a RUSH to listen!
you tried too hard
@@drunkchey9739 Oh well, at least I tried. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
you did not try too hard and it worked
👀 We saw what you did there! Lol
well their new found fame is hopefully a "Goldrush" for the band and helps them get their due!
This feels so surreal... i mean, this was 40 years ago, and we only discovering it now
Einzigartig, einfach klasse 👍 diese Band.🤩
VERDICT:
This is FEX's ultimate comeback. A way better gold rush than that of California back in 1850 🎉🎉🎉
A personal thanks from me to you for giving me my own personal crowning achievement of 2024
I am so happy to be a fan of this 80's German band that people didn't know the name of until a couple of weeks ago.
I appreciate you posting your stuff for us to listen, it really takes me back to the early 80s in the best of ways.
The first B side song! That's perfect!
How the fuck did they not go big? All their songs are certified bangers.
Amazing how is a similar situation to EKT, they still have various tracks available, except the original lost song.
And the people are now in like their 60’s
I need more FEX material
I came here for Subways of your Mind, and stayed for all the rest of the discography that I *really* hope will resurface
My favorite song from you guys has to be goldrush, its so addicting
i love the chord progression and synths are so mesmerising! awesome song, thanks for sharing!
Watching it on Nov 23rd, on which day I was born. Something unbelievable to accept :DD
happy birthday
I really feel that a lot of magic here comes from bass and synth, the rythmical sense from bass its unique and really makes u dance, and synth gives that mystical atmosphere to the music
Cant wait to see your songs surface up as well as your new songs, truly an overlooked gem of the time.
