42:30 From a computer science perspective, it's going to be far more performant to use a Yes/No parameter for unit instance filtering. Using a text-based parameters means Revit is going to do a dozen or more CPU cycles of pattern matching per object, whereas a Yes/No conditional is done in a single CPU cycle. If you have multiple parameters you want to add to the parameter, consider using a number as a sub-parameter. i.e. IsUnit: Y/N, UnitSubCategory: number.

"Inner BIM Child cries inside".....love it Aaron. I am so bummed I missed this live. "Unit Graveyard" was a common term at Denver firms when I worked with them in the past.

Thanks, Jeff and Aaron! I enjoyed the episode. It's nice to see the new unit farm/cloud layout. I could not agree more… Model it! "If you can model it in the computer, the contractor can build it in the field."

Is there a video where you go over base host families?? Working on creating some families for cabinets that will allow for me to not host to a wall face.

Search my channel... I even have some video of making cabinets themselves and a guest who does the same.

Thanks, great episode! @55:00 When you have a different file for MEP do you copy/monitor your plumbing? have you had any issues with this process?

Possible to get a sample file of a smaller job somehow?

    • @jesus_built_my_hotrod

from all the info here you should be able to build your own

Surely I could, but my side hustle of brain surgery does not afford me as much spare time as i wish.

Same rules can apply on a smaller job... I don't think any of this is "size" dependent... personally.

Counter argument from me against unit garden and for documenting insitu. We're a contractor and we take buildings designed by others and turn them into construction documentation. We don't have control over unit naming so a lot of the advantages of cartooning views/sheets are lost there. To produce a sheet is easy with Dynamo anyway - select the unit group you want to document and plan, RCP, keyplan, light and vent plan and unit schedule are all created and placed on a sheet. Every relevant element within the plan is tagged as well. Takes 30 seconds. Having the facade and party walls (demise walls) in context works much better for us with coordination. Facades are in their own groups. Party walls are in their own groups. So similar breakup to what Aaron is advocating. Given the stage we take control of the project, it's unlikely any units are going to move so we're covered there. However, I'll acknowledge we have issues when there is a buyer variation on a unit so it becomes a one off and that is the one we have documented. Then we just need to run the Dynamo script again to create the typical unit sheet again (and hope it doesn't also get varied ha!). I can see the unit garden method being useful for firms that are designing and constantly changing units.

Hi could you not be quicker than dynamo. Using filter shear wall on comments and filter off?

Revit needs to manage links more FASTER.
8 links, in One RVT. and its "Present" project in motion.
BUT, you are a Project Lead, and you are left managing the "ending" project.. aka Second RVT.
So, one HAS to have two RVT's open ..ohhh how missrable Revit is then.
No one talks about .. painful syncing times???
what makes it worse.. I hear from Autodesk reps..
expect average syncs to be 5-8min long.
I was baffled. That's not acceptable.
ALSO, Revit is only flexing on 16Cores only?
and how long has it been like this?
I Drafted in "multifamily projects" for almost 3yrs now.
I"m disappointed with Revit's performance and lack of growth>>
We got workstations now that go to 64 cores.
900mb rvt and you trying to adjust tight dims for clarity on shop prints and your Revit stalling / lagging to generate results is frustrating.

My company got parallax and this template is horrid. They include things like 3 hour smoke barrier which would be plain as day to anyone with knowledge about the industry is not even real. Very poor product just a software salesman.
