I think an equally plausible theory for the previous halving having little price effect was the low demand due to low interest in BTC. This upcoming halving may have a significant price increase due to the much greater media coverage of the ETFs issue effectively educating a much more interested public.

@@victorstyles5694 That's a good point. The ETFs will have a diluting of demand effect on the retail buying public. Financial institutions that sell ETFs, however, will need to be holding some BITCOIN in order to play the game. As the public becomes more educated, and as population collapse makes itself known, owning esoteric property in any form, will be a risk.
It may ultimately boil down to being able to deliver medical services.
Bitcoin was the last thing on my mind during the pandemic and I've been investing a little since 2017. I invested very little during the pandemic - Hell, the world was turning upside down.
I made 60k in 1 year from altcoins and riding the waves. I'm looking to make my next 60 in half that. Most people don't realise this but when BTC spikes the market follows and typically altcoins go up, and with the upcoming halving event in April the next bullrun could be massive. Many analysts are expecting BTC to hit 100k so a lot of altcoins could 10-100x i.e. if you buy $100 of a cheap altcoin like IoTeX which is currently trading at 0.05, it could be worth 10k, which is pretty good. If you invested more the profits could be life changing.

I would say the pandemic more so then being priced in for the second one. Stock market took a major hit as well. Must be some kind of correlation because right after that 2021 both the stock market and crypto picked up majorly.

There are many more retail investors now who believe the halving will boost the price, and that might be enough to get that boost.
Since each point of halving bitcoin has gone up substantially however each time that increase has diminished by a measure of 3x to 4x therefore this suggests historically evidence that bitcoin gains post-halving will be further diminished when compared to the previous halving gains

Halving doesn't reduce supply. Supply still increase until 21 mill, but lower rate.
True, but it’s liquid supply they’re referring to, since there are people who are hodling the BTC coming on to the market and other things like permanent burning of BTC in lost wallets so it still applies. Halving reduces the amount of supply volumes on exchanges so therefore even if demand is the same supply will more than dictate the price.
Nothing will happen around the halving this year. It's already priced in.

the etf is screwy as all the people who sold to get out of greyscale have to wait 30 days before they can buy back into the etf so around feb 11th all of those investors can buy back into the etf and that is not priced in yet

Btc price tripled in the last 2020 halving , this guy is talking 💩, it had a flash crash in march before the halving because of covid then went onto 64k early 2021 then 69k by November , the previous ATH was 20 a 250% gain
