      Dio Brando Capoeira is a Brazilian martial art from slaves over five hundred years ago it’s called capoeira because the jungle they went to train in was called capoeira. It looks like a dance because for the slaves martial arts we’re illegal and they couldn’t practice it mastre Bimba made the first legal capoeira academy about 50 something years ago?

      @@RKXIXKR Capoeira is unlikely to exist 500 hundred years.That was the time Africans were firt imported to Brazil and it's unlikely they instantly made it.Also there's thin lines were history is blurred with legends,some well known Mestres(Acordeon for example)believe it was created further later in the cities.Definetely the name doesn't come from a jungle and there's no one who really knows.Most believe the name meant "chickenfight".Don't try to educate people using random internet articles please.

      Bboying (or breakdance) from the hip hop scene was influenced by capoeira. In a Brazilian dance style called zouk (also branch is lambada Zouk) was also influenced by capoeira. You can see it in the lead’s movement leading a basic move called “lateral”.

    Is it considered a dance? Yes! Is it a music? Of course! Is it a fight? No doubt! Is it a game? Logical! Don't try to separate them. It's not possible. This is our culture: all together and mixed up. This is the brazilian culture.

      Elizabethdactyl The book was created after the main series, and yes. What I am saying is, that its a detail they over looked. Also, he seems to be a perfectionist in the things he does, we can easily say that Misora maybe influenced him into learning it. It wouldn't be strange of him to travel out side of the Western Continents. Easily fits his personality and adds to his character. Still sad Misora died. She lacked the knowledge that Light was the main suspect, I see her to be the real successor of L if he had died first and she would had made contact with him. Misora was awesome.

    Depends on where you come from. Most Martial Arts require either very calm, deliberate structured movements or a balanced control of the body's actions. Capoeira has much more freedom in its style compared to many others but needs the person to have complete understanding on their body's workings, limits and flexibility and more so, many dancers who adapted to this style found it very easy to learn and "close to home" for them

    Isto é Capoeira! É luta, é dança, é arte. Nascida na África, depois levada para o Brasil pelos escravos, desenvolvida durante séculos.
    This is Capoeira! It's a fight, a dance, an art. Born in Africa, then taken to Brazil by the slaves, developped for centuries.

    • @Felipekimst
      @Felipekimst 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, I think it's commonly said it was born here. Africa had some tribal rituals with body practices which capoeira might have some influences from but, the way it is today, capoeira regional and contemporanea it's from Brazil.
      Even old Brazilian capoeira didnt look like the way it looks today so, saying it was born in Africa is a huge leap in my humble opinion

    The art itself was a way for slaves to practice combat in a hidden way, the moves are based upon the principals of the "dance" that was used as a screen to avoid the slavers notice. The physical acts heightened the practitioners musculature, balance, and equilibrium. It may have grown into a focused and "traditional" fighting style, but it's true purpose was to enable an enslaved people to become fit, in an offensive capacity. Watch any practitioner of this art, and it is beyond doubt that they are above average in athletic ability. It should never be compared to more popular and accepted forms of combat, yet its benefits should never be underestimated.

    • @behindaurora5083
      @behindaurora5083 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Actually no, the truth is in the XVII century, it was usual from the people here in Angola, Africa, to commemorate the iniciation of the young ones to the adult life with a cerimony called n'golo. In that cerimony the men fought a competition of animated fight to the sound of atabaques (instruments) in which the winner was the one who managed to touch with their foot in the competitor's head. The winner would then have the right to choose a wife among the girls who were too being iniciated to the adult life, without having to offer a "dote" (usually cows, plantation fields etc) to their family. With the arrival of the Portuguese and the slavery this "sport" was brought to America, especially Brazil, where they would keep doing it in their sanzalas (places where they were allowed to reunite under no sanity or any decent conditions) until they were discovered and Kapu'era (Capoeira) forbidden by law.
