Kastrup is the most important cross disciplinary thinker of our time. He’s also a gifted communicator - always a delight to listen to him - thank you 🙏

He's exactly right about AI Not having private inner sentience. The confusion comes from the fact that inner human thought and outward speech are ALSO human behavior. An AI can mimic the exact behavior of thought and speech but that is not done with inner sentience. All the computer does is follow the logic of human thought with a silicon machine.

I am stoked to see the interdisciplinary convergence of people I appreciate as true conscious evolutionaries. From this conversation to the many unfolding around the planet concurrently.

Gotta love Bernardo...only philosopher that actually understands technology as a scientist and engineer. The majority of the so called philosophers of mind remind me of the 12 year old Star Trek fans who are dazzled by machines and space travel.

As long as we conflate consciousness with intelligent outputs, it will seem obvious that smart computers are conscious. Bernardo does a great job pointing to this assumption.

Superficially, Bernardo Kastrup SEEMS to be promulgating the most ancient spiritual teaching of Advaita Vedanta (as found in the Upanishadic texts of India) but due to reasons I won't go into at length here, his understanding is rather flawed.
If one carefully listens to any of his monologues or interview videos, it is obvious (at least it is obvious to those who are truly enlightened) that he regularly confuses and conflates discrete consciousness (as emerging from the neural networks of animals) and UNIVERSAL Consciousness (which is the all-pervasive, eternal ground of all being, more appositely termed "The Tao", "Brahman" or "Infinite Awareness").
He also believes in (limited) freedom of will, which is, of course, ludicrous, and his understanding of suffering is truly infantile, which is unfortunate, since the eradication of suffering is the goal of life.
In order to PROPERLY understand the distinction between the two aforementioned categories of consciousness, you are welcome to email me for a copy of "A Final Instruction Sheet for Humanity", which are the most authoritative and accurate precepts extant. My address is on my TH-cam homepage.
However, my main criticism of Kastrup is not with his metaphysics, it is, rather, his METAETHICS. He is, objectively speaking, afflicted with a demonic mentality, as demonstrated with his support of all things contrary to Dharma (the law, and societal duties), such as egalitarianism, feminism, homosexuality, and socialism.
In a recent interview, for example, he displayed abject ignorance when discussing the topic of animal consumption. Hopefully, he will one day realize how incredibly hypocritical he is in this regards, and become a compassionate VEGAN. 🌱
After all, to criticize Bernardo for his teachings being only, let's say, ninety percent accurate, would be silly, since, compared with almost every other person who has ever lived, his philosophical understanding is fairly sound. Yet, what is the point of being even TOTALLY correct about metaphysics, when one's metaethics and normative ethics is fundamentally flawed?
Furthermore, Bernado has admitted that he has struggled with mental health issues for several decades. I would suggest he flee to the loving arms of an ACTUAL spiritual master in order to learn Dharma (as well, of course, correct his flawed metaphysics).
      Peace!
P.S. It seems Bernie Boy has BLOCKED at least one of my TH-cam accounts, so if you are reading this, you are indeed fortunate. ;)

    • @alcannistraro
      @alcannistraro 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Barron is a professional apologist, and an ordained official representative of the Roman Catholic Church, not a truth-seeker. Such a conversation could only serve as entertainment -- and for a very limited audience. In my opinion, neither Kastrup nor Barron would have any interest in having such a conversation or debate. I would be interested enough to watch only if Barron were to take off his bishop hat, figuratively, which he would not be permitted to do even if he wanted to. Apologetics is a game of rhetorical trickery that Bernardo is too smart to fall for. I would expect the following from such a meeting: Barron would get nowhere in his argumentation, and Kastrup would find that Barron isn't interested in honest intellectual discourse. Waste of time for both of them. Wouldn't happen.

Hello Daniel- recently discovered your interview with Jodorowsky...and was impressed by your passion for Steiner. How insightful his thoughts on the future have been!? Medical procedures, the 8th sphere etc. I must mention, if flippantly, that he was not a right wing eco terrorist - and neither are millions of anarchists, voluntaryists, or libertarians. Independants have been the largest voting block in this country for a decade. Please dont rule this out mon ami. May i suggest to you Iain McGilchrists new book The Matter With Things? Both yourself and Bernardos ideas of the myth of renewable energy, as presently constituted, are not grounded in reality...and private farmers care as much for the earth as san fransisco yuppies, no? I write for cHilDrensHeAlThDefeNse and RFK jr, if youre familiar. Id love to have an exchange with you someday....Blessings to you and yours Daniel. Id love to be helpful to you.
    Hail Steiner!

BK:49.58.".i am open to be a means to an end for nature to express itself, whatever way it needs to express itself through me, i am not going to fight that. My life is not about me.
That's a realization i got pretty late in my life.Which sort of contradicts the entire western manual about well-being.Well being is about making a life about you,you have to make a plan and get to be happy.I think that's childish stuff.
I think if you mature as an adult you get to a point where you realize it's not about you, has never been, will never be ,and you don't need to understand what's going on, to be useful.
You just need to listen to the impersonal movements of nature within you, that you made mistake for your own errant feelings and intuitions, but which are not you at all.
You are part of nature, you have never been separate, you have never been your own thing.
And those movements of the impersonal are clear if you have the eyes to see,and today i don't judge it ......."
    I love that man! ॐ ❤

35:00 not only does the universe looks similar to the brain of a mammal; it is the exact projection of the brain of the organism which looks at the universe! That's why it looks like a mammal or to be more precise a human brain, the brain of the one who is perceiving, the one who experiences the universe. And since we all share a similar brain structure, we share the communality of what is. Rovelli's relational quantum mechanics is clear: we all have our own personal material universe. The relational and thus material expression of ontic mentation, the collapse of the wave function, looks like the brain/universe we inhabit. Between us Humans the universe looks quite the same but eg for an insect the material universe will look totally different and similar to their nervous system. We live in the projection of our personal brain and we call this holographic principle the universe. That God waking up in it's own dream.

@Laura In the towns and cities of India, one can see many STRAY COWS wandering around, displaying their teats.
Similarly, in the Western cities, one can see women wandering the dangerous streets alone, displaying their bosoms and other bodily parts.
Such loose women are no better than STRAY COWS.
