I am 75 and have played piano, trumpet, violin and harmonica at various times, but have never put in the effort to play this music, which I love. Now I'm doing it, and almost every day I listen to Cory Hall for inspiration. Thanks
Cory is an example of a very talented, well educated, practiced professional. You can't find better performances of Joplin's rags. Or pretty much any piano score! Absolutely not! Check out his The Cascades! Absolutely the very best rendition I have ever heard and as a former player of these rags, I have heard hundreds!

I first learned the entertainer and maple leaf, then i tried the easy winners and other rag but I couldnt do It, and now im learning this song and i can tell ya this is a los easier, i recommend it to any beginner, intermediate
@@fromhl7619 What part(s) of The Easy Winners did you find too difficult? I definitely wouldn’t say that Peacherine Rag is a lot easier (The rags are about the same level of difficulty imo), and therefore I don’t understand why you’d struggle with TEW.
His excellent performance is embellished with little innovations here and there that make his rendition unique without overshadowing the original composition. Marvelously done!
Finally someone taking their time with this beautiful rag. I feel like this one in particular looses its charm when played too fast. Thank you for this!

I don't know why but somthing iv noticed with alot of my friends is the calm ones like the fast stuff and the extraverted energetic people like me like calming stuff like this anyways thanks for this one it's always been a favorite I love the tempo
First clip I've found of this piece where it hasn't been played at breakneck speed. I'm not actually technically good enough to play it much faster than this, but my God it sounds better at this speed. All too often in ragtime, people try and impress with speedy playing and sacrifice the charm of the song in doing so. Good work
Hi Cory Big fan of your channel....I have a question please if I may, what fingering do you use for the B flat - C - E natural - A flat chord on the right hand towards the end of the A section? (Bar 18, about 0:30 in this vid)? I'm struggling with that one. 1245 seems best but the B flat- E flat- G chord before it seems to get the fingers stuck in the wrong place.
Well played. Personally I like it a little better on a honky tonk piano than on a grand piano. And maybe even a little faster. And in a western saloon.

Las condenas a los responsables del procés, esto es, de los hechos que condujeron a la mayor quiebra constitucional desde el regreso de la democracia, hipotecarán el medio plazo de la política española. A esta hora, sin embargo, otra cuestión centra la conversación: ¿cuánto tiempo pasarán en la cárcel Oriol Junqueras y el resto de líderes independentistas? Pese a las penas fijadas por la sentencia, es harto improbable que cumplan su totalidad, o que lo hagan en un régimen tan restrictivo como hasta ahora. ¿Por qué? Maybe it's just me but I don't like how the repeated bars are done one octave higher. It's too high pitched, and probably not how Joplin intended it to be played. Also it feels too fast. I heard slower versions that bring variety by using more interesting dynamics. The octave higher feels like a cheap trick in comparison.
Its a good tempo and its accurate, but its not the most interesting interpretation. It sounds over rehearsed , tired, and the left hand is clunky. Check out the performances from the guys in Peoria, like Adam Swanson, and try to recapture the bounce of real ragtime!

Play 1235 for both chords. This is because 3 is closer to E than 4 is after playing the B-flat octave.

The parts where the right hand is an octave higher is wrong but other than that sounds good

Maybe it's just me but I don't like how the repeated bars are done one octave higher. It's too high pitched, and probably not how Joplin intended it to be played. Also it feels too fast. I heard slower versions that bring variety by using more interesting dynamics. The octave higher feels like a cheap trick in comparison.

Its a good tempo and its accurate, but its not the most interesting interpretation. It sounds over rehearsed , tired, and the left hand is clunky. Check out the performances from the guys in Peoria, like Adam Swanson, and try to recapture the bounce of real ragtime!
