- Today was supposed to be a big day: Shrove Tuesday of the Binche Carnival ...
In order to warm hearts, I offer you a small retrospective in pictures of my last visits to the Binche carnival.
The sun is still down as the streets of Binche are gradually waking up to the sound of clapping clogs on the Binche cobblestones.
The gilles de Binche begin the last day of the Binche carnival, the most important: Le Mardi Gras.
First hoof kicks in the street and the first sounds of drums. The city of Binche is preparing to experience the most important day of the year.
After a lunch with oysters and champagne, the actors of the Carnival of Binche progress through the small streets of Binche and go to their next meeting.
Gilles, peasants, arlequins, pierrots and sailors are gradually starting to arrive at the Grand-Place de Binche: The wax masks are out!
After a rondeau under the gaze of visitors to the Binche carnival, each company enters the Town Hall to attend the presentation of the jubilee medals.
Around noon, a well-deserved break is in order. It is as a family that the participants share a meal that promises to be restorative.
Very quickly, all societies must reconstitute themselves in order to attend another great moment of the Mardi Gras of the Binche carnival: The procession!
Many visitors in the Charles Deliège Avenue ! They will be able to collect many oranges offered by the participants. A real pleasure for children in particular.
Ostrich feather hats, drums, musicians and societies gather for an enormous rondeau on the Grand-Place. This concludes a beautiful afternoon spent at the Binche carnival.
Apotheosis of the Carnival of Binche: The evening roundel.
It is following the evening procession, in the glow of Bengal fires, that the companies go again to the Grand-Place to attend the great fireworks which closes the carnival of Binche in a beautiful way. .
"Plus Oultre" can be read above the baskets which sway to the rhythm of the music. Always further ... This is only the beginning of a long night in the city of Binche!
It is to the sound of the drums that the companies will continue to dance the night away and return before dawn.
Can not wait for next year ...
Renowned around the world, the Binche carnival was recognized in 2003 by UNESCO as a masterpiece of the oral and intangible heritage of humanity, just that!

Je ne fais pas le gille à Binche mais à La Louvière. Je participe depuis 2017 à un ramassage de la société royale des Supporters en portant la caisse. C'est un magnifique ramassage, ils vont me manquer cette année
Une très belle société les Supporters ! Je fais régulièrement le lundi matin à la violle avec certains d'entre eux :)

Le ramassage et entendre l aubade matinal, le passage à la commune même si je ne fais pas le gille à binche toute ces moment me manque 😢😥🥁🎺

L'entièreté du carnaval. ( soumons, Dimanche gras et lundi + mardi). Sa va prendre des millions de milliards d'années pour le prochain carnaval 2022

je suis gille à La Louvière....tous les carnavals vont me manquer car de janvier à avril, cette période nous permet d'oublier un peu tous nos soucis de l'année....

Moi je fais le gille à binche et le il n y a pas de moment cest de moment où on se lève jusqu au moment où on se couche

Salut ! Ce n’est pas au programme actuellement. (Cela ne dépend pas de moi malheureusement).
Mais c’est vrai que les airs du carnaval de Binche au piano ça change !

le dimanche ce sont des gilles à bottine
le lundi ce sont des gilles de salon
le mardi ce sont des gilles de bistro qui voient leur nombre chuter à chaque arrêt.
